Russell paid no attention to Jasper’s demands and continued carrying him toward Mutated Jack.

Realizing his orders had zero effect, this senior officer, who held a bit of status even at Hydra headquarters, suddenly did something nobody expected.

“I’m begging you, just let me go!

I don’t want to die!”

Whether Hydra headquarters offered acting classes or Jasper was truly terrified out of his mind, he didn’t look like a senior officer at all right now—he looked like a helpless elementary schooler facing danger.

“If you just show mercy and let me go, I promise I’ll quit Hydra immediately!

I’ll break off all contact with them!”

“I swear!

I swear on my mother’s name!

I promise I’ll quit Hydra!

Absolutely, right now!”

The bald Jasper had stopped struggling and placed all his hopes on begging for mercy.

Hearing Jasper’s words, Russell suddenly stopped, temporarily pausing his plan to offer him up as a sacrifice.

Russell paused, but Mutated Jack wasn’t going to stand quietly in the distance.

Noticing Russell seemed distracted, Mutated Jack seized the moment and charged toward him.

The heavy thumping of his sprint drew Russell’s attention back to Mutated Jack, but Russell still didn’t let go of the bald Jasper.

Instead, he dragged Jasper along as he dodged Mutated Jack’s attack.

Dragged into this superhuman battle, Jasper felt like he was on a roller coaster.

Aside from being awestruck by Russell’s speed, all he could do was scream at the top of his lungs.

After barely managing to adjust to their superhuman speed, Jasper finally found an opening to speak again: “Actually, I didn’t even want to join Hydra at first!

They approached me inside SHIELD.”

“They said if I joined, they’d get me promoted and give me a raise in SHIELD, plus I’d get a second paycheck from them.”

“I lost my head for a moment and joined!”

“I swear to God, aside from taking double pay from SHIELD and Hydra, I’ve never done anything to hurt anyone!”

“Fuck, I’m just a desk worker!

I’m really not a bad guy!”

By this point, tears and snot were streaming down Jasper’s face, making him look like an utterly wronged child.

“Big brother, sir, mister, please!

Let me go!”

“I’m really not a bad guy!

Give me a chance, let me be a good guy!”

Even carrying another person, Russell was slightly faster than Mutated Jack, so Jack couldn’t land a solid hit on him.

However, what annoyed Russell right now wasn’t Jack’s attacks, but the blabbering bald Jasper in his hand.

“Allen, catch this guy!”

With that, Russell threw Jasper out toward Allen and cursed under his breath, “Fucking hell, what rotten luck!”

He spared Jasper not because he believed his tearful pleas.

Anyone who believed Jasper’s sob story was an idiot.

Russell simply couldn’t bring himself to sacrifice Jasper, and even if he did, it wasn’t guaranteed to net him any Destiny Points.

Although Allen didn’t know why Russell had caught Jasper only to release him, he fully supported any decision Russell made at this point.

*If I don’t understand it now, that’s fine.

I’ll get it sooner or later.*

Without realizing it, Allen was turning into Russell’s number-one fanboy, sinking deeper and deeper into admiration.

In Allen’s eyes, everything Russell did carried deep meaning.

If he couldn’t understand it, it just meant he hadn’t reached Russell’s level yet and needed to work harder.

*Yes, that must be it!*

If Russell knew what Allen was thinking right now, he would definitely tell him: *Kid, you’re overthinking it.*

After throwing Jasper back to Allen, Russell felt a bit lighter, but he was back to his original dilemma: he lacked a strong offensive attack.

Was he really going to play an endurance game with Mutated Jack to see whose stamina drained first?

Or compete in regeneration, using a blood-for-blood strategy?

Neither an endurance battle nor a trading-punches strategy was what Russell wanted.

Just as Russell began to sigh, thinking that if he had drawn a different reward on his first roll, he wouldn’t be in such a bind… Visit g.com for the full chapter.

He never expected that while his head was full of memories about how he had set up the reward pool for the DC Apostle System, a mechanical voice suddenly sounded in his mind:

[Host has satisfied the conditions for Destiny Points.

Distributing Destiny Points.

Quantity: 1!]

Though it was just a short sentence, to Russell, it was like sweet rain after a drought.

“Holy shit, even that worked?!”

The moment he heard that mechanical voice, Russell immediately guessed the reason.

Bald Jasper had actually been telling the truth—and because of his change, the future had shifted significantly, prompting the system to reward Russell with a Destiny Point.

“Draw immediately!”

With a flash of thought, icons representing various rewards spun rapidly in Russell’s mind.

[Draw complete.

Host has obtained reward: Superman Clark’s Super Vision!]

Seeing the reward he had obtained, Russell, who had just been excited, couldn’t help cursing out loud:

“Fuck!

Transmigrating didn’t change my terrible gacha luck at all!”

The reward pool contained plenty of powerful abilities and artifacts.

However, to increase the nominal drop rate—and for certain reasons he couldn’t share—Russell had split up many of those superhuman abilities when he designed the system.

For example, drawing Kryptonian Physiology originally granted immense power on par with Superman Clark.

But Russell had forcefully carved it up into nearly a dozen smaller abilities.

Things like Superman Clark’s Super Strength, Super Physique, Super Vision, Super Speed, Flight, and so on were all split into individual rewards.

That way, while every draw yielded something, the value of each reward dropped drastically.

“I really shouldn’t have copied those greedy game devs back home—screwing over others only ends up screwing myself.

Damn it!”

If he hadn’t broken these rewards into tiny fragments, he might have gotten complete Superman powers right now, instead of Super Vision, which was far better suited for utility than direct combat.
