Ever since its inception, Hydra seemed to have an extraordinary obsession with super soldiers.

This was evident enough from Hydra’s former leader, the Red Skull.

Russell didn’t have much objection to Jack’s training regimen; in fact, he felt an itch to test himself.Full novel: Marvel: The DC Apostle System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Though Russell now possessed superhuman strength and physique, it didn’t make him feel invincible.

*When it’s time to charge, smash through everything; when it’s time to lay low, lay low completely.*

That was his true mindset and rule of conduct.

Under Jack’s arrangements, Russell quickly began his custom training, transforming from a novice with zero combat experience into a qualified super soldier.

Whether it was due to his transmigration or the physical enhancements, Russell mastered these skills at a mind-boggling speed.

Marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, driving tanks, piloting aircraft—Russell demonstrated astounding learning and retention capabilities across the board.

As for hacking—a field somewhat related to his former profession—it felt as simple as elementary school math problems.

Russell’s unbelievable learning ability surprised Jack and left Russell himself utterly bewildered.

If he had possessed such learning talent in his past life, he wouldn’t have remained a third-rate programmer up until the day he transmigrated.

Perhaps to preserve his own dignity, or perhaps to polish Russell into a finer weapon, Jack revised the training benchmarks three times over the course of the next month, pushing almost everything he knew into the schedule.

Although Jack looked like an ordinary middle-aged soldier, Russell knew full well that anyone who became the chief of security at a secret Hydra base was far more than he appeared.

Despite the steadily intensified training, Russell handled it all with ease, and a month slipped by before he knew it.

…

Upon finishing the final day of his training program, Russell returned alone to his room.

Perhaps because of his cooperation over the past month, Hydra had temporarily relaxed their surveillance on him—at least on the surface.

Through this month of training, Russell had fully mastered his strength and transitioned from a complete novice into an elite soldier.

With his current combat capability, if he were put back into the battle from a month ago, Russell was absolutely confident he could win easily—and even annihilate the entire base without suffering any fatal injuries.

After a month of training, Russell’s stats on the system interface had undergone a minor update:

[Combat Skills: C+]

[Overall Combat Power: B-]

Though these two upgrades seemed modest, their real-world impact was immense.

By Russell’s estimations, if his current self fought a life-or-death battle against his past self from a month ago, his current self would secure a total victory without sustaining serious injuries, and the fight would last under ten minutes.

Simply put, his past self wouldn’t even survive ten minutes against him now.

“9527, Mr.

Wilson wants you at Lab 3 immediately!”

Not long after Russell returned to his room, the loudspeaker mounted on the wall crackled to life.

The bald doctor, Wilson, was Russell’s attending physician, responsible not only for recording all data following Russell’s enhancement, but also for overseeing the research and development of the Abomination Project.

To be precise, Wilson wasn’t a medical doctor; his specialty lay in biological sciences.

According to the information Russell had gathered over the past month, Wilson had once been a world-renowned biologist—so prominent that even SHIELD had extended an olive branch to him.

Yet for unknown reasons, Wilson had declined SHIELD’s invitation and joined Hydra instead, developing super soldiers for them.

A biologist of Wilson’s caliber was a rare commodity even within Hydra, which was precisely why he served as the lead researcher for the Abomination Project.

In this secret base, the highest-ranking individual was not Jack, the chief of security, but this bald scientist, Wilson.

Over the past month, Wilson had conducted a checkup on Russell once every week.

In truth, these checkups were mainly excuses to draw Russell’s blood.

“Ah, Russell, you’re here!

Starting today, you’ll have new companions!”

When Russell arrived at Lab 3, he found Wilson making final preparations beside two test subjects lying on operating tables.

Both subjects were Caucasian—a young man and woman in their early twenties, both with long blond hair.

“By analyzing your blood, I finally discovered the key to fusing the Abomination Serum!”

“And they are the most suitable candidates selected through genetic matching!”

“What’s more, I discovered that injecting your blood alongside the Abomination Serum significantly increases the success rate of the fusion!”

…

Wilson spoke to Russell with wild excitement, looking like a street beggar who had just hit the jackpot.

“So I specifically asked you here to witness their rebirth.

In a way, they could be considered your descendants!”

With that, Wilson led Russell into the observation room next to the lab and issued the command to begin the experiment.

As the green Abomination Serum and Russell’s blood were injected, the two subjects restrained on the operating tables suffered severe stress reactions, thrashing violently like fish yanked out of water.

Watching them writhe in agony, Russell couldn’t help but recall his own ordeal a month ago.

Truth be told, Wilson was indeed an exceptionally talented biologist.

Even Russell hadn’t expected Wilson to actually extract a key to fusing the Abomination Serum from his blood.

In reality, Russell himself wasn’t capable of fusing the Abomination Serum; he had survived purely because of the Dionysus Factor.

Yet Wilson had managed to uncover a mechanism for serum fusion from Russell’s enhanced body—a strange twist of fate.

Time passed minute by minute.

Before long, the two subjects had been struggling in pain for over three minutes.

Perhaps due to physical exhaustion, or perhaps because the serum was finally being integrated, their thrashing gradually subsided.

At the same time, their skin began turning green at a visible rate, and their muscles grew sharp and defined.

“It actually worked!”
