13 – Don’t Get Distracted, Stay Focused

With that, Huo Yuzhou walked away.

The Doberman, hearing the commotion, immediately rose and followed at his heels.Full novel: Master Huo’s Little Vixen: Igniting Wildfire With Flirtatious Trouble Again — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Standing in place, Song Yuan stared at Huo Yuzhou’s retreating figure, a slight smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

She refused to believe she couldn’t end up sitting in his lap!

In the dormitory.

“Sister Song Yuan, this is the manuscript paper I usually use. Will this work?”

Xu Su had no idea what Song Yuan needed the manuscript paper for.

This paper was where she jotted down random notes while mulling over script characters in her spare time.

Song Yuan took it and looked it over, smiling as she nodded. “This works perfectly.”

Xu Su sat on a nearby chair, leaning over the desk, gazing at Song Yuan with her hair tied up in a bun—delicate features, porcelain skin, not a single flaw. She found herself staring slightly transfixed.

After a moment, she spoke up. “Sister Song Yuan, training is already so exhausting. You still have time to write things?”

Song Yuan looked at her fair, tender little face and casually pinched it. “Secret.”

Xu Su didn’t press further, but out of curiosity asked, “Sister Song Yuan, you’re so beautiful. Do you have a boyfriend?”

Song Yuan thought, boyfriend?

“No.”

But she had a husband.

Though that was about to come to an end soon.

Xu Su never would have dared to think about marriage. Hearing that she had no boyfriend, she was a bit surprised. “How is that possible?”

Song Yuan smiled. “Nothing’s impossible.”

Then she turned the question back on Xu Su. “What about you?”

Xu Su shook her head. “No.”

Song Yuan looked at her. “Anyone catch your eye at the training ground?”

Xu Su said a bit shyly, “No.”

Seeing that, Song Yuan didn’t keep teasing her.

A rather innocent girl.

After Xu Su returned to her room, Song Yuan took a black pen from the pen holder, uncapped it, and pressed the tip against the manuscript paper, her mind completely blank.

She had no experience with divorce.

She sat for an hour and only wrote two characters—

Assets.

Her mind was fixated on nothing but money.

Eastern Base.

Night mountain-climbing training had just ended.

Song Qi immediately shrugged off his pack and plopped down on the ground, drenched in sweat, cursing, “Damn! Doing this every day, my crotch is gonna chafe raw!”

“I swear, if I took my pants off right now, I could wring out a whole basin of water!”

A-Jin glanced at him. “You piss your pants or something?”

Song Qi knew nothing good ever came out of that mouth of his. Leaning back against his pack, he said, “I don’t have that much water in me.”

A-Jin smirked, walked a few steps away, grabbed two bottles of mineral water, and tossed one to him. “Here, hydrate.”

Song Qi caught it and downed more than half in one go. Something seemed to cross his mind, and a grin tugged at his lips as he asked A-Jin, “You were about to get promoted to captain, and then suddenly you got reassigned down to my squad. What’s the deal?”

He’d never figured that one out.

A-Jin’s eyelids drooped slightly, veiling the flicker of emotion beneath, and he said flatly, “No deal.”

Seeing that, Song Qi teased, “Just say you couldn’t get enough of being my bunkmate, right?”

A-Jin said matter-of-factly, “I don’t do that kind of thing.”

Song Qi caught the wrong end of that. “Do what kind of thing? I’m talking about brotherhood here—what are you thinking?”

“Every inch of me, inside and out, belongs to my future wife. If you so much as touch me, I’ll fight to the death to destroy you!”

Song Qi was as straight as they came—straighter than a telephone pole.

Not a single bend in him.

He just happened to have fair skin. Even after being out in the scorching sun, his skin only turned red, never tanning—a textbook case of someone born with a silver spoon.

A-Jin couldn’t be bothered with him. He stood up, grabbed his pack, and said only, “I’m off.”

Song Qi, still sitting on the ground with his hands clasped behind his head, watched A-Jin’s straight-backed figure and inexplicably felt he looked a little lonely.

He thought to himself, he’d introduce A-Jin to a pretty girl sometime!

The next day.

Outdoor shooting range.

Song Yuan wore her training uniform, her waist cinched impossibly slim by the belt buckle, black Marten boots on her feet. Long legs, narrow waist, goggles perched on her high-bridged nose, hair tied in a high ponytail, both eyes locked on the distant target.

Bang.

Her arm trembled slightly from the recoil of the shot.

It grazed the edge.

Song Yuan loaded another round and prepared to fire again.

Having witnessed the whole thing, Huo Yuzhou walked up and stood behind her. His left hand reached out and wrapped around the back of her hand, enveloping it.

Song Yuan visibly flinched.

Huo Yuzhou steadied her, saying, “Don’t get distracted. Focus.”

“Eyes forward.”
