After investigating everything and confirming the person behind the scenes, Shen Nanxian’s revenge plan officially began. The first step would start with the Ren Group!
Liu Lanci knew nothing of what happened outside. He had been instructed by Shen Nanxian to recuperate properly, so he comfortably lay in bed, enjoying good food and massage services.
“How is this pressure?” Shen Nanxian asked while kneading Liu Lanci’s shoulders.
“Just right.” Liu Lanci closed his eyes in comfort, a satisfied arc curling the corners of his lips.
Shen Nanxian smiled and continued his massage, his movements light and focused.
A knock suddenly rang out.
Shen Nanxian stopped what he was doing and looked toward the doorway. “Who is it? Come in!”
As the words fell, the bedroom door opened.
The assistant adjusted the frames of his glasses and stood respectfully at the door, speaking to Shen Nanxian.
“Alright, I know.” Shen Nanxian frowned slightly, then turned to Liu Lanci. “Lanci, I will keep you company later. Let me go out and host a guest first.”
“Okay,” Liu Lanci nodded.
Shen Nanxian straightened his collar, then strode out of the room to go meet President Ren.
Seeing that Shen Nanxian hadn’t flared up in anger, the assistant felt the heavy stone in his heart temporarily drop. In the entire company, who didn’t know that when the boss was with Young Master Liu, he hated being disturbed the most?
He followed behind Shen Nanxian with trepidation, feeling the low pressure radiating from him. Someone was about to suffer a terrible disaster.
As soon as Shen Nanxian reached the main hall, he saw a middle-aged man sitting on the sofa tasting tea, his figure bloated and corpulent.
After not seeing him for a period of time, he had put on this much weight. It seemed the pressure he applied wasn’t great enough, Shen Nanxian thought to himself.
Shen Nanxian walked over to him, took a seat in the empty space beside him, and looked directly at President Ren, asking, “What brings President Ren here today?”
President Ren put down his teacup, lifted his gaze to glance at Shen Nanxian, and then shifted his focus back to the antique porcelain on the coffee table, speaking slowly. “This is a new treasure I recently acquired, which I am presenting to President Shen as an engagement gift.”
Shen Nanxian glanced at the items on the coffee table, noncommittal. Facts proved that having a troublesome son would only drain one’s wealth.
“Thank you, President Ren,” Shen Nanxian replied indifferently.
“Can President Shen spare my unworthy son’s life? Rest assured, he will never dare to show up and obstruct President Shen’s eyes again.” President Ren’s tone was earnest, his eyes fixed intently on Shen Nanxian, hoping to gain his consent.
“Hah, President Ren, how your son fares from now on depends entirely on my partner’s wishes,” Shen Nanxian said decisively.
“President Shen, Ren Cha already knows his mistake. With your magnanimity, please forgive my son!” President Ren immediately pleaded, dense beads of sweat popping up on his forehead.
“I will say it again: whether to forgive him or not depends solely on my partner.” Shen Nanxian’s attitude remained unyielding, showing no signs of softening.
Seeing this situation, President Ren gritted his teeth and dropped straight to his knees on the floor. “President Shen, I beg you to show mercy and spare my child this once.”
This scene happened to be witnessed by Liu Lanci, who was peeking from the corner of the staircase. Liu Lanci was instantly stunned. So Shen Nanxian could be this fierce with such a terrifying aura. Although he had known it all along, experiencing it firsthand was far less shocking than seeing it with his own eyes.
Shen Nanxian also noticed Liu Lanci hiding around the corner and waved for him to come over. Liu Lanci hesitated for a moment before choosing to walk over.
“Mr. Shen,” Liu Lanci called out softly.
“Come and sit.” Shen Nanxian pointed to the sofa beside him.
Liu Lanci nodded, walked over, and sat down, his gaze involuntarily landing on President Ren kneeling on the floor.
Noticing the gaze cast by Liu Lanci, President Ren raised his head and locked eyes with him. Upon seeing Liu Lanci’s appearance, he froze completely, his eyes widening in shock as if he had received a fright.
Seeing President Ren’s abnormal expression, Liu Lanci wore a puzzled look.
“What is wrong? Is there a problem?” Liu Lanci asked.
“No, nothing.”
President Ren recovered his composure, but he couldn’t conceal his previous look of horror. Taking a few deep breaths to suppress the shock within his heart, he continued to implore Shen Nanxian to spare Ren Cha, promising that he would make Ren Cha vanish from Liu Lanci’s world from this day forward.
After listening to President Ren’s words, Liu Lanci fell silent for a long moment before finally nodding in agreement. As long as Ren Cha no longer appeared before him, he didn’t care to haggle over other matters too much.
Seeing Liu Lanci agree, President Ren’s face lit up with joy as he expressed endless gratitude. He then stood up to leave, and before departing, he did not forget to nod and thank Liu Lanci.
After President Ren left, the living room fell back into quietness.
Liu Lanci lowered his head, gently biting his lip. Hesitating for a moment, he finally asked, “Mr. Shen, there is something I want to ask you.”
Hearing this, Shen Nanxian frowned slightly, asking with mild surprise, “Hmm? What is it? Why did you stop calling me husband?”
“Husband, your secretary looks very pretty. When did she join the company?” Liu Lanci asked softly, keeping his head down.
Shen Nanxian laughed, reaching out to stroke Liu Lanci’s smooth hair and replying tenderly, “Are you jealous? Don’t let your imagination run wild. She is just my subordinate. If you don’t like her, I can transfer her to another department or simply fire her.”
While speaking, Shen Nanxian observed Liu Lanci’s reaction. Sure enough, the moment he mentioned the word subordinate, Liu Lanci noticeably froze, but then shook his head and let out a light sigh.
“Sigh, husband, forget it.” Liu Lanci felt that doing so would feel a bit like abusing public office for personal revenge. Although that female secretary was his cousin and treated him poorly, she hadn’t committed any grave offenses after all.
As long as he was certain Shen Nanxian hadn’t given that cousin extra glances because of her looks, that was enough.
“Oh you, why are you so adorable! I’ve always said our Lanci is the most considerate!” Shen Nanxian affectionately pinched the tip of Liu Lanci’s nose, smiling.
“No way, I’m not as good as you think. I’m a total jar of vinegar.” Liu Lanci smiled shyly. Shen Nanxian was someone he had gained by casting aside his dignity; no one else was allowed to snatch him away.
After coaxing Liu Lanci back to his room to rest, Shen Nanxian walked over to the study and gave a kick to System 222, which was busy watching a horror movie.
[Host, what’s wrong?]
System 222’s wise eyes were filled with enormous question marks. Why was its host acting up out of nowhere?
Could it be that Liu Lanci wouldn’t let the host share a bed anymore? Thinking about it, that would be normal; given his host’s frequency, the fact that he was only getting cut off from the bed now was proof of how good Liu Lanci’s temper truly was.
“The world background you gave me is incomplete. Go check it out and investigate thoroughly,” Shen Nanxian commanded coldly.
System 222 silently shut down its computer and went to work. In the past, its host only ever wanted general plots, sometimes no plot at all and would just charge blindly forward. Now that he had a wife, he had learned to dig deep into the roots.
System 222 worked with high efficiency. In less than half an hour, all the information regarding Liu Lanci was transmitted directly into Shen Nanxian’s mind.
