" Quest..." I stared at the screen pensively. "Well, it’s good I completed it at least... Even though I didn’t know about it, I’ll check the rewards later," I added, closing the panel with a sigh.

"System, tell me about the world my followers are from", I asked the system, knowing very well that I knew too little about this world and its mechanics.

[# Your followers currently reside in the Village of Vasyti, a village founded in an isolated, cursed land. #]

"Hold up!" I said abruptly. "Why would anyone in their right mind start a village in a cursed land?"

[#The land of Vasyti was once a prosperous and flourishing land; it bore flora that grew nowhere else, greenery that looked as magical as it was, rivers whose waters could heal all ailments. Although it distinctly lacked fauna, the pioneers were nomads of trade; they believed they could find a workaround. The same pioneers of the village saw potential in it becoming a massive city... At least before the plague struck. And, as for the origin of the plague, it’ll be revealed once you gain the needed authority to know it#]

"That... Actually makes way more sense, but why can’t I know now?" I asked the system, but it ignored my question, or at least I think it did, seeing how it continued from where I interrupted it without care for my curiousity

[#The village of Vastyi is anything but a small village; its current title is a reflection of the limitation the current population has set on it; its actual territory expands over tens of thousands of kilometres of the cursed lands plagued by unknown diseases and tainted magical beasts, with the lowest being a C-rank. The current population is just too small to occupy even 1/1000th of the territory, which is actually a good thing, as they don’t have the strength or magic to fight against those beasts#]

I was about to cut in again, but before I could, the system spoke, as if already knowing what I was about to ask.

[# The village just happened to be in the innermost area of the Vastyi Territory... The eye of the storm, if I may explain it as such, which is why the effects of the plague were minimal on the village#]

[# Within the Caelion continent, we have 5 territories, 3 of which would serve as potential future allies or stand as potential future enemies, and the other 1, a neutral body, and the final 1, which is yours.

♦The lush northern Eryndor Territory, watched over by the Nature Goddess Valea. The Eryndor Territory is home to the Eryndri people, an elegant civilisation with people of neck-turning beauty, and a distinct pointed ear trait shared by all of them. They are also the arboreal inhabitants of the verdant lands Goddess Valea governs. Their territory is home to multiple magical plants and creatures, magical timber, sacred groves with high concentrations of mana, and other natural products. It is overall the most biologically rich territory on the Caelion continent, making it the living heart of Caelion.

♦The mountainous Thalor territory, watched over by the Stone God Solch. The Thalor Territory is a mountainous expanse with cities carved into the very peaks by the Alrians, people known for their ’density’ or, better yet, their physicality, a physical adaptation they traded in for a bit of height, making their ’average height’ a head shorter than that of the inhabitants of other territories, a trait gotten over the years to have them better suited for mountain life. Their territory is home to a wide range of ores and minerals, from luxurious ores to magical minerals. Making it the golden finger of Caelion.

♦The arid western Kharvos territory, watched over by the Desert God Dune. The Kharvos Territory is an arid desert land, with enormous oasis cities where the Kharvans, bronze-skinned people with lean, tall builds, and a penchant for trade, live. Kharvos is the home of glass and sunstones, the most natural energy source anyone in the 5 territories could think of, and most importantly, information. There’s a saying: ’If a Kharvan had a say in whether it’s true or not, then they are certainly in the right, not because they know it all, but because there was definitely a Kharvan’s caravan around when it happened’. Making it the Ears of Caelion

♦The marshy southern Veylith territory, watched over by the Shadow Goddess Nocturna. The Veylith Territory is a dark, marshy territory, with wooden houses built on platforms elevated above the swamp. The Veyrians bear similar traits to your people, the only difference being a lighter complexion due to the low sunlight in those areas. Veylith is home to two major things: alchemy and enchantments, the special plants found in the low-light areas perfect for alchemical reactions due to their lower volatility, making it the Supporting bone of Caelion

♦And lastly, your territory, the flourishing central–now cursed–lands, the Vasyti Territory, watched over by the Shelter God, Astrael#]

"Hmm, well, that’s manageable. What ranks are they at?" I asked

[#They are all 2 realms above you, at the God realm#]

"Oh, I see. Wow, uhm... And what about the humans? You said something about magical beasts, so I want to assume the humans also have some form of magic or protection to aid their survival, minus my villagers, though," I asked, already half-heartedly expecting one answer.

[# Correct. To put it simply, humans possess the ability to awaken special abilities at the specific age of 15. With the aid of an awakening orb, the function of the orb is to pull in latent mana from the atmosphere into the bodies of humans to trigger the awakening of their own magical ability. They call these abilities ’Talents’, and they rank from F to SSS. The higher the rank, the rarer it is, and most especially the more powerful it is; an F-rank flame could function as a campfire starter or give a 2nd burn, but an SSS-rank flame could melt through flesh and rock alike. They also vary from Life professions to more mystic talents. And currently, the Vastyi village lacks the resources for a proper awakening ceremony, making the current population unawakened#]

"Oh well, damn, that was not what I expected. Isn’t there another way to awaken without the orb?" I asked

[# There is, through intense emotional pressure, like anger, or sheer existential fear, like a near-death experience. But it’s not a sure-fire method, as only one in a handful manage to awaken in such a way #]

"Wow, I didn’t think I was that behind; neither did I think there was so much to improve this village."
