Not far away, an extremely young man walked over.

He wore a sharp black suit, his tie perfectly tied, his posture straight as a pine, his features regular.

But they were just too regular.Full novel: Mist in His Eyes — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Everything about him was regular.

It felt strange.

Both women frowned. Xu Manjin muttered under her breath, “Is he the owner of the car? He doesn’t look much older than us.”

Shen Hua was also puzzled, staring in the man’s direction. “Probably. Look, he’s heading straight for the car.”

“But I keep feeling…” Xu Manjin frowned. “He looks like…”

She didn’t voice her thought, like “driver” or “assistant.” Instead, she stood up, walked two steps to the rear window of the Rolls-Royce, cupped her hands over her brow, and peered inside. As soon as she looked, she jumped back with a gasp, covering her mouth.

The window tint was dark, but she could vaguely see someone sitting in the backseat, a clear silhouette, looking back in her direction.

Startled by Xu Manjin, Shen Hua also curiously leaned in.

She imitated Xu Manjin and looked inside. The moment she pressed close to the glass, she met a pair of deep, dark eyes.

The man in the backseat had lifted his head at some point, his gaze piercing through the glass, landing precisely on her face.

That gaze was too heavy, like ink-dyed deep sea. Even through the glass, she felt an intense pressure.

Shen Hua’s heart tightened.

She couldn’t find words to describe the scene.

But she felt that the man’s eyes were like silent, standing reefs in the deep sea.

Dark, obscure,

and without a trace of ripple, yet possessing an intense penetrating power. Seemingly calm, but unsettling.

Before she could react, Xu Manjin had composed herself, gently tapped the window, and deliberately softened her voice. “Mister, want to get to know each other?”

The moment the words landed, Shen Hua felt her toes curl with embarrassment, her cheeks burning.

She didn’t wait for a reaction from the backseat, nor did she care about Xu Manjin. She turned and ran toward the building next door.

Xu Manjin noticed the change almost immediately. Her eyes reddened, and she raised her voice to call after her.

“What are you running for!”

Seeing Shen Hua didn’t turn back, Xu Manjin was both angry and anxious, chasing after her. “Su Daji! Stop right there!”

The cry of “Su Daji” rang out crisp and loud, making passersby turn their heads.

Shen Hua was so startled she ran even faster, practically charging into the building.

But Xu Manjin was quicker. She caught up at the entrance and grabbed Shen Hua’s arm, slapping her on the backside. “What are you running for? Traitor!”

Shen Hua stumbled from the slap, shook off her hand, and ducked inside.

Their commotion faded as they disappeared behind the revolving door. Only then did Zhou Yunting slowly withdraw his gaze.

Yang Jiang had also witnessed the farce, but he habitually ignored it.

After the two girls left, he stepped forward to open the rear door and asked in a low voice, “Sir, go up now, or wait a bit longer?”

“Now.”

Zhou Yunting’s voice was flat, revealing no emotion.

He stepped out of the car. His bespoke suit accentuated his tall, straight posture, his shoulders level, his waist and abdomen taut. Each step was steady as he headed straight for the main entrance.

Yang Jiang was momentarily stunned.

According to convention, Zhou Yunting always preferred the VIP passage at the back of the building, avoiding the crowded main entrance. Why had he changed his mind today?

Puzzled, he caught a glimpse of a faint smile on Zhou Yunting’s lips from the corner of his eye. Understanding dawned, and he quickly hurried to follow.

At that moment, Zhou Yunting was indeed savoring the scene just now.

He had lived twenty-seven years, accustomed to the hypocrisy of the business world and the affectations of high society. Never before had he found something this amusing.

A moment ago, he had been resting with his eyes closed in the car, waiting for Yang Jiang to finish his errands.

The Hong Kong weather at this time was neither hot nor cold. He had left a small gap in the window, letting in the breeze and the noise of the street, including the playful voices of the two girls outside.

He opened his eyes and, through the tinted windows, saw two young women dressed boldly.

One wore a short skirt and a tube top, with oversized earrings. The other was similarly dressed, but her earrings were sparkling studs, with a few small ear cuffs on her cartilage.

They were taking photos in front of the car. One turned her back to him, posing with a playful twist of her waist.

The other held a phone, smiling at the lens. The sunlight fell on her face, and even the upward curve of her eyes was filled with sharp light.

Looking again, Zhou Yunting’s breath caught.

The girl had strikingly beautiful features, so gorgeous she could steal everyone’s attention.

He couldn’t look away.

Then they started running around the car, laughing, their clear voices piercing through the windows.

Until the girl holding the phone squatted by the roadside, waving “time out.” They both crouched beside the car, unashamedly discussing how to “hit on” the person inside.

And they were discussing him.

Zhou Yunting couldn’t help but smile.

He had seen many women—dignified, seductive, pretending innocence, scheming—but never a girl like this.

On the surface, she seemed pure, but when she smiled, there was an unconscious charm. When she was being silly, she was lively, wearing the recklessness, impulsiveness, and even a bit of naive ambition of her age openly on her face.

He felt a rare flicker of interest, his gaze lingering on her.

But the next second, to his surprise, the girl imitated her companion and pressed her face to the car window to look inside.

His windows were specially tinted; from the outside, it was pitch black, only a vague outline visible, but he could see her face clearly.

He knew she was beautiful.

Up close, the impact was even stronger.

Her features were incredibly seductive, beautiful to the point of aggression. Her made-up eyes were like a fox’s, born to ensnare men’s souls.

Before he could take another look, she suddenly ran off, and the other girl angrily called her “Su Daji.”

Zhou Yunting’s smile deepened, a hint of amusement spreading in his eyes.

Su Daji?

Could there be such a lively, unrestrained “Daji” in this world?

Was that her name or a nickname?

Whatever it was,

She truly lived up to it.

Shen Hua and Xu Manjin had just reached the elevator when they ran into the main group.

Several girls with delicate makeup were pacing impatiently. Seeing them arrive, one in a white dress grumbled, “What took you so long? Everyone’s been waiting for you two.”

Xu Manjin immediately exploded. “If you can’t wait, go ahead. No one’s stopping you.”

The girl wanted to argue, but a guy in casual clothes quickly mediated. “Don’t fight, don’t fight. I was just afraid you wouldn’t find the private room.”

Shen Hua looked up and saw it was Lu Zeyu, a senior from the same department.

He loved socializing and often organized gatherings. He was the “social butterfly” of the department.

She nodded at Lu Zeyu and said nothing more.

While waiting for the elevator, someone gossipy came over and whispered, “Where did you two go? Took you so long.”

Shen Hua found the previous incident amusing. Seeing it was a classmate, she forgot Xu Manjin’s warning look and chatted casually. “Don’t even mention it. That was so awkward!”

“Oh, what happened?”

Everyone’s curiosity was piqued.

Shen Hua deliberately drew out her words, ignoring Xu Manjin’s frantic eye signals. Young people are straightforward, and they enjoy seeing their friends make fools of themselves. So she exaggeratedly said, “Because someone just circled a Rolls-Royce three times, knocked on the rear window, and said in a sweet voice, ‘Mister, want to get to know each other?'”

As she spoke, she imitated Xu Manjin’s earlier demeanor, her tone perfect.

As soon as she finished,

Everyone burst out laughing. Lu Zeyu slapped his thigh, and even the girl in the white dress who had been arguing covered her mouth to hide a smile.

Xu Manjin’s face flushed red and white. She reached out to scratch Shen Hua. “Shen Hua, you’re asking for it!”

Startled, Shen Hua turned to run but didn’t notice someone behind her. She slammed into a firm chest.

Her nose first hit the fabric, then a refreshing cedarwood scent washed over her, cold and deep, making her pause.

She instinctively looked up and met a pair of deep eyes.

A very restrained, seductive face.

His suit buttons were fastened to the top, his brow bone high, jawline sharp, features almost flawless.

Yet, on such a cold face, there was a faint, almost imperceptible smile at the corner of his lips, like a warm sun falling on ice, a hint of careless allure in the chill. It made her heart race.

Her mind went blank. She even forgot to apologize.

“Letting you talk nonsense!” Xu Manjin caught up and smacked the back of Shen Hua’s head.

Shen Hua snapped back to reality, both embarrassed and annoyed. She glared at Xu Manjin, then turned and walked into the elevator that had just opened.

Before entering, she inexplicably looked back.

The man was still standing there, his gaze fixed on her, dark and deep, as if hiding stars.

The elevator doors slowly closed. In the last second, their eyes met again.

The former was clear, innocent, and newly awakened.

The latter was deep, indifferent, and obscure.
