“What are you collaborating with Ji Yanzhou on? Investing in some drama?” Ji Xueli asked, sitting in his car while applying her makeup.

Since she was going out, as a public figure, she still had to pay a little attention to her appearance—applying a no-makeup makeup look that seemed natural but actually covered everything.

Duan Qingyu glanced at her unconsciously slightly parted lips as she struggled to curl her eyelashes and said, “Do I only have this one business?”Full novel: Mistake! He’s not the male lead, he’s a psycho demon — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Oh, right…” Ji Xueli nodded.

“It’s a collaboration between the Ji and Duan families, not between us,” Duan Qingyu said flatly.

Ji Xueli paused while setting her makeup, sensing a hint of hostility in his tone for some reason…

The relationship between Ji Yanzhou and Duan Qingyu wasn’t as it appeared, but it didn’t seem particularly good either.

She took out her lipstick and was about to apply it when the car suddenly braked sharply. Her body lurched forward uncontrollably, only to be yanked back by the seatbelt, leaving a streak of lipstick at the corner of her mouth.

“……”

“Sorry, I almost missed the turn,” Duan Qingyu said, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he looked at the red mark on her mouth, his gaze clearly mischievous.

Ji Xueli took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror. The red mark was glaringly obvious, making her look like a monster that had just devoured someone. She gritted her teeth and said, “Duan Qingyu, I’m going to fight you!”

The security guard at the restaurant entrance respectfully opened the car door, and Ji Yanzhou stepped out from the back, dressed in a fitting and composed black suit.

“Isn’t that President Duan’s car?” Xie Yujun got out from the passenger seat and couldn’t help but remark to Ji Yanzhou upon seeing the Audi parked ahead.

Ji Yanzhou glanced over, seemingly reluctant to approach. “Let’s go in first,” he said.

But the next moment, someone stepped out—Duan Qingyu, his eyes still holding a trace of lingering amusement.

Immediately after, the passenger door opened, and the person who emerged was muttering under her breath, “You did that on purpose. My lipstick broke, and it’s out of stock now. You have to compensate me…”

When Ji Yanzhou saw the person’s face, his footsteps froze in place, unable to move.

“I’ll buy you ten, but you can’t send any messages for a month,” Duan Qingyu glanced at her.

Ji Xueli refused without a second thought. “No way, then I’d be at a loss. You’re worth way more than lipstick.”

It was just lipstick—it wasn’t like she couldn’t afford to buy more. But Duan Qingyu was a catch she had already secured, and she couldn’t let him slip away.

Hearing this, Duan Qingyu chuckled lightly and was about to retort when he looked up and noticed Ji Yanzhou and Xie Yujun standing there.

His smile deepened. “You’re here too.”

Ji Xueli looked over and, seeing them, waved proactively. “Hi.”

Ji Yanzhou remained expressionless and didn’t respond.

“Miss Ji, President Duan, how did you two come together?” Xie Yujun asked, momentarily taken aback upon seeing Ji Xueli step out of his car.

Her old habits flared up again. Ji Xueli secretly rolled her eyes at Ji Yanzhou and said to Xie Yujun, “I just signed a contract with him, so I tagged along for a meal.”

“You signed with START Entertainment?!” Ji Yanzhou finally spoke, his eyes filled with barely concealed anger.

“Yeah, what’s the problem?” Ji Xueli was puzzled by his attitude.

Duan Qingyu’s lips curled into a smirk, thoroughly enjoying the scene. This was truly entertaining.

Not wanting to stand outside any longer, Ji Xueli tugged Duan Qingyu inside, muttering under her breath, “It’s the middle of the day. Did he eat gunpowder or something…”

First, he ignored her greeting, then he questioned her like that. He must be crazy…

“He was hit by a bomb,” Duan Qingyu said.

“Why did you bomb him?” Ji Xueli glanced at him—these two really didn’t get along.

Duan Qingyu chuckled softly but said nothing, gaining a deeper understanding of their relationship. This Ji Xueli truly seemed to have given up on Ji Yanzhou.

But how could someone who had liked him so much before suddenly declare she wanted to pursue him in such a short time?

His gaze fell on the person entering the private room, his eyes growing more calculating and cold.

Outside the door, Xie Yujun looked at Ji Yanzhou, whose expression had already dropped to freezing point, and couldn’t help but remind him, “Mr. Ji, let’s go in first.”

Ji Yanzhou pressed his lips tightly together, nodding only after a moment before walking inside.
