Adventurers’ Guild Hall.
Inside the hall, adventurers of all kinds, carrying various weapons, gathered in small groups, chatting and discussing in hushed tones.
In a corner, Haus stood composed and alert, dressed neatly and radiating vitality as he calmly surveyed the people in the hall.
He was carefully searching for suitable adventure companions to prepare for future missions.
When Haus first embarked on his adventuring life, he had originally planned to venture out alone after becoming familiar with the lifestyle.
But after following Garp on his first adventure and experiencing just how dangerous adventuring could be, Haus had wisely decided that having companions was the better choice.
Going alone was far too risky.
Although Haus yearned for adventure, he couldn’t afford to take such risks, and besides, adventuring alone wasn’t the norm.
Even legendary warriors within the kingdom would band together and fight side by side when facing demon kings or monster lords.
If even the strongest among humanity did so, how could he, a mere ordinary adventurer, dare to venture out alone?
Haus smiled faintly, then took a step forward.
He spotted a suitable target, a three-person team, all dressed in fine, high-quality attire, currently standing in a corner on the other side of the hall.
All three were looking around, seemingly recruiting their final teammate.
Judging by their demeanor and movements, they were likely newcomers to the adventuring scene, just like him.
Haus quickly approached and struck up a conversation with the three.
“Hello, I’m Haus.
Are you looking for a warrior or guard for your team?
I trained under the guild’s training master, Marcus, and have mastered warrior skills.
I can handle frontal assaults or defend spellcasters and archers.” Right from the start, Haus introduced his role in the team.
A standard team composition typically includes a warrior, a mage, an archer, and a guard.
The warrior takes the front line against enemies, the mage and archer provide support from the rear, while the guard roams, assisting the warrior while also protecting the mage and archer.
This was the role Zem had previously filled.
Now, although one of the three in front of Haus was a warrior wielding a longsword, Haus still stepped forward and asked.
After all, aside from the young warrior who looked quite inexperienced, the other two teammates were holding a bow and a staff, respectively.
With only one melee fighter in the team, they lacked backup and defensive support, urgently needing a second melee combatant to round out their formation.
It didn’t necessarily have to be a guard; it could be a thief or a berserker.
Any melee-capable individual would do.
And the handsome warrior with the longsword at his waist clearly realized this as well.
He looked at Haus and tentatively began asking about Haus’s career path.
Even though Haus had already mentioned it in his initial introduction.
But perhaps the other person was a bit socially awkward and hadn’t paid attention?
In any case, Haus didn’t mind.
He once again introduced his profession and background to the three.
“I previously learned skills under the guild’s training master, Marcus.
For now, I’d consider myself a warrior.” Profession wasn’t all that important; it was usually clear from one’s attire.
Haus preferred to introduce his own identity and background to dispel any doubts in their minds, while also probing into the backgrounds of the three in front of him.
To ensure they weren’t some kind of evil adventurer-killers.
Not all adventurers were good people.
But good people generally didn’t hide their origins or backgrounds.
As Haus pointed out his own background and used “disciple of the guild training master Marcus” as a credential, the wariness and hesitation in the eyes of the three instantly vanished.
No one would be foolish enough to impersonate a core guild member in the adventurer’s guild hall.
The truth of such a claim was easy to verify; just ask the receptionist at the front desk casually, and the answer would be clear.
Moreover, Haus carried a legitimate adventurer’s license, which served as the most reliable form of identification.
Coupled with his upright demeanor and calm expression, completely devoid of the shifty-eyed look of a villain, the three in front of him let down their guard.
They warmly and politely introduced their own identities and backgrounds to Haus.
The young man with the longsword at his waist was named Pierce Anderson, from a merchant family, a merchant’s son.
The long-haired woman holding a staff was named Layla Cooper, also the daughter of a merchant; The short-haired archer girl wearing a wide-brimmed hat that covered half her face was named Sylvia, from the Healing Spring Potion Shop in the town.
Looking at Sylvia before him, Haus was a bit curious why an archer, who needed agility and precise aiming, would wear such a large, cumbersome hat.
Shouldn’t that be something a mage would wear?
Haus voiced his question aloud.
He wanted to understand Sylvia’s strength and professional level more deeply.
Forming a team was a mutual endeavor.
The other party wouldn’t seek a burden as a teammate, and likewise, Haus couldn’t rashly join a team carrying dead weight.
Under Haus’s calm gaze, Sylvia hesitated slightly at first, glanced around at the adventurers coming and going in the hall, hesitated a moment longer, then slowly removed her wide-brimmed hat, revealing a pair of pointed ears.
An elf?
That Sylvia before him was actually an elf; this surprised Haus somewhat.
Having lived in the town for so long, he had never seen an elf before.
His original self had seen one on the street, but that was several years ago.
After revealing her racial identity to Haus, Sylvia quickly put her wide-brimmed hat back on.
“I’m a half-blood,” Sylvia whispered.
Half-blood refers to offspring born from the union of humans and other beings.
In this world, it’s not just Goblins that can interbreed with other species; humans also possess this ability, and seemingly to an even greater extent.
It’s worth noting that those “half-elves” who bear characteristics of both humans and elves do not fall under the category of mixed-blood races.
They are a distinct race, similar to orcs and dwarves.
Through Sylvia’s explanation, Haus also understood why she wears a hat.
Pure elves or pure humans are fine, but if one is of mixed blood, they might face disdain from certain individuals.
Some heteromorphic races look down upon mixed-blood beings with impure lineage.
So she usually prefers to wear a hat to conceal herself.
However, during adventures, she takes it off so it doesn’t hinder combat.
Moreover, due to her mixed heritage, Sylvia has inherited the elven race’s Innate Skill.
Among the three, she is the only “dual-skill” adventurer, and her strength speaks for itself.
She hoped Haus could rest assured.
Haus thought it over and successfully formed a party with the three.
