Shеng Shurаn madе оne lаst dеsреrаtе аttemрt, tugging at Сhi Нen’s hand, silently рleаding with him.

Chi Неn did nоt rеlent, his faсe still stern аs hе sаid, “I sаid I objеct tо Fu Lin marrying hеr.”

Sееing Fu Zhеnсhuan аbout to eхрlоdе, Shеng Shuran decidеd tо strikе first!

She flung Сhi Hеn’s hand awау, stооd up abruрtlу, and grabbеd the orаngе juiсе from thе tаble, splashing it onto Chi Hеn’s faсе.

“Yоu’rе gоing toо far! Just becаuse уou dislikе me, уou won’t let me into this family?”

Sheng Shuran, who had always been gentle and obedient since childhood, was losing her temper in the Fu household for the first time, leaving everyone stunned.

Fu Zhenchuan was half-crouched, unsure whether to sit or stand.

Chi Hen closed his eyes, letting the thick juice cling to his eyelashes.

He curled his lips into a faint, ambiguous smile, then took a napkin with his long, pale fingers and wiped his face. When he looked up again, his gaze was dark and menacing as he stared at Sheng Shuran:

“Or do you actually want to marry him?”

“Chi Hen!” Sheng Shuran’s tone sharpened:

“If you speak properly, I might reconsider. But if you insist on pushing me now, I might just agree.”

“Threatening me?” Chi Hen raised an eyebrow.

Sheng Shuran’s words carried a hidden meaning, hoping Chi Hen would understand and back off, knowing when to hold back.

“No, I just think if you have any issues with me, we can discuss them privately.”

Chi Hen’s deep, gloomy eyes swept over Sheng Shuran before lowering to stare at the crumpled, juice-stained napkin. He gave a slight, twisted smile.

“Since my sister is unhappy, I’ll stop talking.”

Sheng Shuran’s anxious heart finally settled, and she gracefully sat back down.

“What opinions could this kid possibly have! Ranran, don’t mind him. He has no say in this family.”

Chi Hen suddenly stood up, his chair scraping loudly against the floor.

“I’m uncomfortable. I’m going upstairs to clean up.” He brushed off his clothes and left the table without another word.

For the rest of the day, he stayed hidden in his room.

As Sheng Shuran prepared to leave, she sent a WeChat message to Chi Hen:

【I’m returning to C City. Do you want to come back with me?】

After sending the message, Chi Hen never replied.

Sheng Shuran decided not to wait any longer and headed out alone, only to be stopped by Fu Lin.

“Let me take you.”

“No need, Brother…” Sheng Shuran remembered Chi Hen’s sarcastic remark about her pretending to be young by calling him “Brother,” and the word “Brother” suddenly stuck in her throat.

“Would you really let my father beat me again?” Fu Lin smiled gently.

“Uncle still likes you. He used to only hit Chi Hen.”

“That’s because I used to tread carefully, always bending to his will.”

This time, it wasn’t even a rebellion—just straightening his back a little—and he was immediately knocked down.

“What you saw was just him slapping me, but there are far worse things than a slap.”

Sheng Shuran fell silent.

“Shuran, I think…” Fu Lin looked at her, his gaze soft:

“It’s time we talked.”

“Then I’ll trouble you.” Sheng Shuran felt that some things needed to be clarified.

Fu Lin took Sheng Shuran’s luggage, and the two walked side by side out of the Fu family garden.

Their figures were etched in Chi Hen’s eyes as he stood by the second-floor window, watching them leave with a gloomy expression.

He picked up his phone. The screen displayed the letter “S.” He spoke into the phone:

“Fu Lin is heading to C City now.”A low voice came through the phone: “Alright, I’ve sent you the address you wanted. Handle it before you come back.”

“Thank you, Uncle.”

Chi Hen uttered the four words without warmth, then hung up the phone.
