Tang Wei was taken aback, an inexplicable emotion stirring in her heart.

It was like a calm lake suddenly rippling with gentle waves, spreading outward in all directions.

She had thought of all kinds of reasons, but never expected him to say something like this.Full novel: Morning Sickness on the Same Day, President Lu Uses the Child to Force Me to Marry — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

You are yourself first, and only then a mother…

You can do anything you like…

Tang Wei’s eyes shimmered with a bright, watery light. She curved her lips into a smile. “Yes, I’ll protect it.”

“So, you can do anything at all, as long as you want to.” His dark, deep eyes fixed on her, filled with certainty.

Simply because you want to, so you can—nothing else is a reason to hold you back.

Tang Wei blinked, somewhat moved.

She curved her lips and said seriously, “Mr. Lu, you’re a good person.”

“…”

Lu Jinshi let out a soft laugh.

It really wasn’t easy—she’d already gotten the marriage certificate with him, and only now was she classifying him as a good person.

His gaze was inexplicably intense, and Tang Wei felt her cheeks grow warm under his stare. She blinked and added very sincerely, “Thank you, Mr. Lu.”

With that, she pretended to be nonchalant as she turned her back to him.

Thanking him for his support, his understanding, and his respect—and for being able to say such words, which made all her concerns vanish into thin air.

From this matter, at least it was clear that the two of them thought alike, and the days ahead shouldn’t be too difficult.

The bedroom returned to calm.

Before long, a soft, gentle voice tinged with sleepy drowsiness drifted into Lu Jinshi’s ears, turning into a feather that brushed past his ear in the quiet night.

She called out, “Mr. Lu.”

Lu Jinshi raised an eyebrow and hummed in acknowledgment, the ending note slightly rising, without a trace of impatience.

“Good night.”

It was as if the feather had swept into his heart along with those two words. Lu Jinshi was momentarily stunned, then lightly curved his lips. “Good night.”

Perhaps because the studio could continue after all, Tang Wei felt much more relaxed. Before long, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, until she finally sank into a deep sleep.

The sound of even breathing reached his ears. Lu Jinshi turned his head, stared at the back of Tang Wei’s head for two seconds, then turned off the light and lay down.

Just as he was about to fall asleep, there was a sudden rustling sound beside him.

The next second, a person rolled into his arms, clinging to him with both arms and legs, warm breath hitting his neck in irregular puffs.

Lu Jinshi’s hazy drowsiness was dispelled, and his mind involuntarily conjured up the scene from that night.

She had been like this that night too—he had just gotten into bed after his shower, and she had run straight into his arms.

She didn’t sleep still.

The corner of Lu Jinshi’s mouth curved up slightly. He didn’t move her, letting her hold onto him as he carefully adjusted the blanket over her.

…

The next morning, when Tang Wei saw the enlarged human face right in front of her, she nearly jumped out of her skin.

She closed her eyes, then opened them again.

Ha. Still the same face.

She had actually slept the whole night holding Lu Jinshi.

No—judging by the way her arms were currently wrapped around him, a more accurate statement would be that she had clung to Lu Jinshi all night.

She had gone to sleep so far away, and then rolled straight into his arms.

He wouldn’t think she was playing hard to get, would he?

Tang Wei felt utterly defeated. Quietly, like a thief, she carefully began to extract herself from him.

She shifted a tiny bit.

Mm. Still asleep.

She shifted again.

Mm. Still asleep.

The smile on Tang Wei’s face grew deeper and deeper, and she was already preparing to celebrate.

But just as she was about to pull her hand out for the final time, Lu Jinshi suddenly opened his eyes.

Their eyes met.

Tang Wei’s smile froze on her face, utterly awkward. She said dryly, “Um, I’m used to hugging a stuffed animal when I sleep at home.”

Lu Jinshi nodded, a hint of a smile playing at his lips. “Understood.”

“…”

If you understand, then understand—but could you at least change your expression?

Well, since he was awake anyway, Tang Wei stopped sneaking around and quickly withdrew from beside him.

Throwing off the covers, getting out of bed, putting on her slippers—all in one smooth motion.

When her gaze landed on Lu Jinshi lying in bed, her expression turned somewhat unnatural again.

“I’m going to wash up.”

Leaving those words behind, she rushed into the bathroom without stopping.

Lu Jinshi watched her retreating figure, the smile in his eyes growing deeper.

Once the two of them were ready, Lu Jinshi asked her, “Want to go out for breakfast?”

“Sure.”

Tang Wei had no objections.

When she lived alone, she often didn’t make breakfast at home either, just grabbing something from a roadside breakfast shop.

Fifteen minutes later.

Tang Wei stared at the five-star hotel before her and the manager in a suit with a beaming smile, completely dumbfounded.

Her jaw dropped.

It was just breakfast—wasn’t this a bit too extravagant?

The manager’s face was piled with smiles as he led them into a private room. “President Lu, breakfast has been prepared according to your requirements—all very healthy and nutritious. You and your…”

“My wife.”

His voice was as cold and crisp as ever, but the words “my wife” coming from his lips carried an indescribable tenderness.

A flicker of surprise that he couldn’t quite hide crossed the manager’s face, though his professional composure quickly restored his calm.

“You and your wife may enjoy your meal. If you need anything, just let me know directly.”

The manager pulled out a chair for her, then stepped back to the side.

She had never imagined that even breakfast could come with such treatment. Tang Wei was truly flattered and a little overwhelmed.

She nodded. “Thank you.”

“You’re too kind, Mrs. Lu. It’s all my duty.” The manager’s smile remained unchanged, his tone humble.

He clapped his hands, and several waiters in uniform filed in one after another.

In no time, the empty table was covered with several kinds of food.

“Please enjoy your meal.”

With that, the manager turned and left, even thoughtfully closing the door gently behind him.

Tang Wei looked at the breakfast—there was a wide variety, but each portion was relatively small.

It seemed they had been given special instructions.

She let out a sigh of relief. With that kind of display just now, she had been afraid they’d bring out a full imperial feast.

Fortunately, as long as nothing went to waste, it was fine.

“Eat.” Lu Jinshi placed a bowl of silver ear soup in front of her and gestured with a slight tilt of his chin.

Take things as they come.

Since she was already seated, not eating would just be wasteful.

Tang Wei nodded in acknowledgment and picked up her spoon to eat.

But in her heart, she was thinking that from now on, she’d have to ask clearly before going anywhere—she couldn’t just casually agree to Lu Jinshi’s plans anymore.

Too flashy!

Too extravagant!

After breakfast, the manager saw them off with a beaming smile.

When they reached the parking lot, Lu Jinshi’s voice sounded in Tang Wei’s ear. “I’ll take you to buy some things.”

She had brought very little with her—not even two changes of clothes. It looked like she could pack up and leave with just a suitcase at any moment.

Tang Wei shook her head. “I don’t need to buy anything.”

“The weather is turning cold. You need to add to your clothes, shoes, and daily necessities.”

“I already have all of those. I even bought quite a few new ones a few days ago—I just didn’t bring them over. I can go get them all in a couple of days. There’s no need to buy more.” She frowned slightly and murmured in objection.

Aside from thinking it unnecessary, another reason was that she didn’t want to spend too much of Lu Jinshi’s money.

She could easily buy these things herself.
