“Daughter, don’t sleep yet. How do we exchange these seeds? Your mother has never done this before.” Wang Chunhua said helplessly while holding two bags and three bundles of seeds.
“Oh. Based on my experience from novels, you just use your consciousness to call it. Or you can bring the items inside and tell it directly,” Xia Yan suggested.
“I’ll try the first method you said. If it doesn’t work, I’ll use the second.” Wang Chunhua said, then tried to frantically call System 001 in her mind.
After a while, the system lazily responded, “Dear, how may I help you?”
Wang Chunhua originally wanted to communicate through her mind, but it felt strange, so she gave up and directly entered the space.
“System, I have rice seeds, wheat seeds, vegetable seeds, and eggs. Please exchange them all.”
“Dear, transactions can also be done outside the space. There’s no need to come in specially,” 001 replied somewhat speechlessly.
“I know. I just feel awkward talking to you in my head outside. I feel more comfortable here. Stop that, just tell me what I can exchange,” Wang Chunhua said.
“Alright, dear. We have received: 2 jin of japonica rice, 2 liang cabbage seeds, 2 liang radish seeds, 1 liang spinach seeds, 1 liang celery seeds, 1 liang eggplant seeds, 1 liang lettuce seeds, 2 liang cucumber seeds, 1.5 liang tomato seeds, 5 jin of wheat seeds, and 10 free-range eggs. Please confirm.”
A transparent panel appeared in front of her, listing everything clearly.
After confirming, Wang Chunhua said, “Yes, everything is correct. Please exchange them all. But will the value and weight match?”
“Items with value will be adjusted accordingly. For example, one free-range egg can be exchanged for two modern farm eggs,” 001 explained.
“Can eggs be exchanged into chicks?” she asked.
“Yes, but only chicks that are up to ten days old,” 001 clarified quickly.
Wang Chunhua immediately felt like she had struck a fortune. “Ten days old is enough, I’m not greedy. Exchange everything into improved modern varieties.”
She casually added, “Rice seeds, change to ‘Shenliangyou 534’. Wheat seeds to ‘Bainong 4199’. Vegetable seeds to high-yield, high survival varieties. That’s all.”
001 was stunned. These were top-tier improved seeds.
Still, it complied. “Exchange completed. The chicks have been placed in your room.”
Wang Chunhua then noticed something. The space land did not seem suitable for rice.
“System, can rice be planted here?”
“Yes, the land can be reshaped into farmland. You can also enable one-click planting and harvesting,” 001 replied.
Wang Chunhua nodded. “No need for those functions. I’ll plant it myself.”
001 was surprised. Few people could resist such convenience.
She then planted the seeds and drank some spring water from the space before bathing in the spring.
Meanwhile, Xia Yan mistakenly assumed that exchanging items required entering the space every time.
Soon, Wang Chunhua reappeared in the room along with ten chicks.
“Mom, where did these chicks come from?” Xia Yan asked in shock.
“They were exchanged from eggs,” Wang Chunhua replied.
“But… how do we explain their origin?” Xia Yan panicked.
They quickly decided to sneak the chicks out, pretend they were bought, and bring them back later.
At dinner, the food was bland and unseasoned. Xia Yan accidentally said, “This is so bad! Don’t we have salt?”
She immediately regretted it.
Wang Chunhua quickly covered, “If it’s bad, don’t eat it! Go out!”
Everyone lowered their heads in fear.
Afterwards, Wang Chunhua quietly told Xia Yan to buy salt from the neighbor.
Later, they discussed their location.
“We’re in Qin,” Wang Chunhua said.
Xia Yan froze. “Qin?! Qin Shi Huang?!”
They soon realized they were during the early Qin period, before the empire stabilized. Confusion and danger surrounded them.
Xia Yan even suggested changing history.
The system immediately warned:
“Do not attempt to alter history.”
The warning terrified her. She quickly backed down, realizing survival mattered more than historical interference.
That night, they returned to reality, ready to travel to the county town the next day.
