Liam slung the rifle forward and spun on his heel, sprinting after the two boys.

They had barely covered three hundred meters when the forest behind them exploded.

Shattered.

The Indominus burst through the canopy, its massive head forcing through the branches as it locked onto Liam’s scent.

It wasn’t chasing randomly anymore.

It was hunting him.

A deafening roar tore through the forest.

The remaining compys scattered instantly.

Liam didn’t stop moving.

He turned slightly, raised the tranquilizer launcher, and fired.

The dart flew.

The Indominus twisted mid-stride.

Missed.

The boys kept running, weaving through the trees.

Small, fast, unpredictable.

Liam switched weapons.

Rifle up.

Short bursts.

Gunfire cracked through the forest.

Not to kill.

To slow it down.

To disrupt its advance.

Then— An engine.

From the right.

Liam glanced over.

A Humvee tore through the trees.

Owen at the wheel.

Claire beside him.

“Here!

Get in!” one of the boys shouted as they sprinted toward it.

Liam covered their retreat, firing as he moved.

Controlled bursts.

Clean recoil management.

Instinctive handling.

Years of training showing through.

The magazine ran dry.

And right then— The Indominus broke through the treeline.

Too close.

Liam jumped.

Landed on the roof of the moving vehicle.

“Go!” Owen slammed the accelerator.

The Humvee surged forward, crashing out of the forest and onto open ground.

Distance opened.

Fifty meters.

One hundred.

Two hundred.

For a moment… it looked like they might make it.

“Liam,” Owen shouted from inside, “you asked about the raptors?

Forget it.

They turned.

It can communicate with them.

Everything I trained is useless now.” Claire stayed silent.

Owen wasn’t done.

“You people built something you don’t understand.

This thing isn’t just dangerous.

It’s uncontrollable.” On the roof, Liam reloaded the tranquilizer launcher.

Ahead, the terrain worsened.

Bodies.

Wreckage.

Dead dinosaurs everywhere.

The Humvee slowed.

And behind them— The Indominus was gaining again.

Fast.

100 meters.

Within range.

Liam aimed.

Fired.

The creature shifted to dodge— A second shot followed instantly.

This one hit.

Neck.

It roared and accelerated.

Owen drove straight over a fallen Triceratops.

The vehicle launched upward.

Liam nearly lost his footing.

He grabbed the roof bar, swung his body, and pulled himself back up.

Thirty meters.

Closing.

Another shot.

Hit.

“Liam!” Claire shouted.

“How many does it take?” “More than this!” he snapped back.

She swallowed.

“At least ten confirmed hits.

Its metabolism is too fast.” The vehicle jolted again.

Liam used the momentum, flipping his body upright and stabilizing himself on the roof.

Another shot.

Direct hit.

The Indominus staggered slightly.

But didn’t stop.

The boys stared up at him from inside.

“That’s insane…” “How is he even standing up there?” Liam kept firing.

Counting.

Tracking.

Nearly ten darts embedded now.

The Indominus slowed.

Its head shook violently.

For a second— It stopped.

Turned toward them.

And roared.

The sound ripped across the landscape.

Even distant pterosaurs scattered in panic.

Then— The Humvee screeched to a halt.

“What are you doing?” Claire shouted.

Owen pointed ahead.

A reinforced perimeter fence blocked the path.

“No way through.

Too strong to ram.

We have to turn around.” “There’s no space!” “And if we try, it catches us mid-turn.

We’re done.” Behind them— The Indominus roared again.

The sedatives were hitting.

But not enough.

Not yet.

And it charged.

Straight at them.

Claire grabbed the boys.

Panic rising fast.

“What do we do?

What do we do?” Nowhere forward.

Nowhere back.

Then— The door flew open.

Liam dropped from the roof in one fluid motion, landing beside the driver’s seat.

“Move,” he said.

“I’m driving.” Read ahead with 70+ chapters now with daily updates!
