Early the next morning, Lei Shaoxin didn’t sleep in—

instead, it was Fu Haoyan who refused to get out of bed.

The night before, she had felt bad for his back and didn’t let him sleep on the floor beside the bed. Even so, resting awkwardly by the bedside hadn’t been comfortable for him.Full novel: Mr. Fu, I Heard Your Wife Is Getting Engaged To Someone Else — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Later, they even joked about it—why squeeze into the guest room when the master bedroom was perfectly available?

Lei Shaoxin stood at the sink, bare-faced, brushing her teeth.

Fu Haoyan walked in behind her, placing both hands on the counter and casually enclosing her in his arms.

He leaned in, burying his face in the curve of her neck, and whispered softly by her ear, “Baby.”

Lei Shaoxin spat out the foam and replied, “Stop messing around.”

Reluctantly, he let go and picked up the toothbrush she had already prepared for him.

By the time he finished, Lei Shaoxin had already done her makeup and was picking out clothes in the closet.

After getting dressed, he clung to her again from behind, his breath brushing her neck before he lightly nipped her shoulder.

“Ding Ding, you look beautiful.”

Lei Shaoxin let out a soft gasp and glanced at the faint mark on her shoulder.

Her cheeks flushed as she turned to look at him.

Then she leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. “I’m heading out. Bye.”

Under his gentle, lingering gaze, she hurried out of the bedroom.

Left behind, Fu Haoyan sighed softly—he really didn’t feel like going to work.

Ah Feng was already waiting in the car.

Lei Shaoxin got into the back seat and noticed a sharply dressed man sitting in the front passenger seat.

After Ah Feng introduced him, she learned he was Fu Haoyan’s personal lawyer.

It was rush hour, and traffic was heavy, but they still arrived at the Lei Group at a reasonable time.

Lei Shaoxin and the lawyer got out of the car, and Ah Feng was about to follow.

She stopped him, preferring not to draw too much attention with security around her. Besides, Ah Feng’s imposing build might give the wrong impression.

Ah Feng looked at her with concern. “I grew up without a family… I already see you as one. Like a little sister. I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

“It’s fine. It’s broad daylight—nothing will happen,” Lei Shaoxin reassured him, lightly patting his arm.

Ah Feng hesitated but eventually stayed in the car.

Lei Shaoxin and the lawyer entered the building and took the elevator up.

When they arrived at Lei Jiu’s office, the secretary informed them that he was in a meeting.

They were led to a reception room to wait.

Drinking coffee, they waited.

An hour passed.

Lei Shaoxin began to grow impatient.

Finally, Lei Jiu entered the room.

She greeted him first. “Mr. Lei.”

Ever since the day he pressured her into an early marriage, she could no longer bring herself to call him “Dad.”

Lei Jiu nodded and sat down across from her.

Lei Shaoxin spoke first. “I don’t know what Lei Zhiying told you, but the shares she held in the company were indeed transferred to me willingly.”

The lawyer took out the documents and handed them over.

The moment Lei Jiu saw the figures, his expression darkened with anger. “Lei Shaoxin, have you no manners? Didn’t your mother teach you anything?”

Seeing him lose control like this, Lei Shaoxin let out a cold laugh.

“What right do you have to speak about my mother? Without her, you wouldn’t be where you are today.”

Lei Jiu’s eyes flashed with anger. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll sue you?”

Lei Shaoxin scoffed. “Mr. Lei, you should ask your precious daughter about that. She was the one begging me that day.”

At that moment, the lawyer handed over his business card. “Mr. Lei, I represent Miss Lei. If you have any legal concerns, you can contact me directly.”

Lei Jiu glanced at the card but didn’t take it.

The lawyer calmly placed it on the table instead.

“If you really could sue, you wouldn’t have waited this long,” Lei Shaoxin said evenly.

Hearing her repeatedly address him so formally, Lei Jiu’s expression grew darker.

Lei Shaoxin finished the last sip of her coffee and stood up, leaving the room in a noticeably lighter mood.

The lawyer still had work to attend to and left the Lei Group on his own.

Seeing Lei Shaoxin looking relaxed, Ah Feng knew things had gone smoothly for her.

As the car drove out of the parking lot, she gazed absently at the passing traffic.

She recalled the phone call from Lei Jiu—it confirmed that the share transfer had already been completed.

From that late-night call at the hospital until now, so much time had passed, yet no legal action had been taken. That could only mean one thing—there was no real chance of winning.

She had expected this all along.

She was already a shareholder, and shareholders had priority rights to purchase shares. The only issue was that a formal meeting hadn’t been held beforehand, which was just a minor procedural flaw.

Having worked at the company before, she was familiar with its internal rules. Since there were no specific restrictions written in the charter, there was no real dispute—the entire process was lawful and reasonable.

Everything had unfolded exactly as she anticipated.

“Shaoxin, we’re here,” Ah Feng said.

His voice brought her back to the present.

As she got out of the car, she saw that the red paint at her doorstep had been completely cleaned—no trace remained.

She walked inside quickly. Passing through the garden, she glanced at the blooming red roses, carefully tended by the gardener Fu Haoyan had arranged.

When she came back out carrying her electric guitar, Ah Feng took it from her and placed it in the trunk before driving off.

When Fu Haoyan returned home after work, he could already hear music from the front yard.

Walking in, he saw Lei Shaoxin sitting cross-legged on the sofa, focused on playing her guitar.

A faint smile appeared on his lips as he went to pour a cup of tea.

The music masked his footsteps, so she didn’t notice him approaching.

Only when he placed the teacup on the table in front of her did she realize he was back.

Her fingers paused on the strings, and the music stopped.

“You’re back early tonight?” she asked.

“I came back to cook for you,” he replied, heading toward the kitchen.

She lowered her head and continued playing.

Without being plugged in, the guitar sounded softer—less intense, but more gentle.

As he cooked, the quiet melody lingered in the air, subtly tugging at his heart.

“Ding Ding, come eat,” he called.

When Lei Shaoxin walked over to the table, she was surprised once again.

Was there anything this man couldn’t do?

The sight of the dishes alone made her appetite return.

She usually didn’t eat much, but that night, she even had an extra serving.

Fu Haoyan kept adding food to her bowl, telling her she was too thin and needed to eat more.

While sipping her soup, she said, “Haoyan, our band is planning a street performance soon. Can you help us arrange it?”

He paused for a moment before remembering their earlier conversation about it.

“Sure.”

Earlier that day, she had received a call from Song Kewei—the band was preparing for the performance and asked when she would join rehearsals.

The call had reignited her excitement, so she had already started practicing on her own.

The next day.

Ever since Lei Shaoxin started living with him, Fu Haoyan found himself reluctant to go to work every morning.

She even teased him, saying he was like an ancient emperor so distracted by love that he neglected his duties.

That day, a different driver came to pick him up.

Lei Shaoxin hadn’t seen A-Le in a while and asked jokingly, “Where’s A-Le? Don’t tell me you fired him.”

“He’s on vacation in Vigeland,” Fu Haoyan replied casually.

As she helped him put on his suit jacket, he leaned in, trying to steal a kiss—but she dodged with a playful smile, turning and pushing him toward the door.

He caught her wrist instead. “Come to work with me.”

They joked and laughed as they walked to the car. The driver, already waiting, quickly opened the door and then tactfully returned to his seat.

As she helped him into the car, just before the door closed, Lei Shaoxin leaned in and gave him a quick kiss.

He reached up, holding the back of her neck, deepening it slightly.

A satisfied smile appeared on his face, clearly pleased with himself.

Lei Shaoxin scrunched her nose and shut the car door firmly.
