The news anchor was both beautiful and soft-spoken, drawing viewers in effortlessly.
Lei Shaoxin sat in a café, eating her tomato beef macaroni while watching the financial news on TV.
“Recently, Fu Group successfully acquired Plot No. 9 for 24 billion, setting a new land price record. Meanwhile, Zhuosheng Group’s stock has fallen for three consecutive days and has been suspended from trading today. Lei Real Estate has also seen a significant drop in share value. That concludes today’s financial report.”
Lei Shaoxin looked away from the screen and lowered her head, continuing her meal.
At the same time, Fu Haoyan was watching the same report.
“Boss, Zhuosheng Group’s trading has been suspended. That ‘gift’ you sent was quite a big one,” A-Le remarked, holding the remote and adjusting the volume.
Fu Haoyan smirked. “Keep shorting Zhuosheng Group. The one thing He Zhuosheng lacks is that piece of land I now hold. Their luxury housing project is stalled—let’s make sure his engagement leaves him too distracted to even know what’s going on.”
A-Le flipped through the schedule. “Tonight is Sir Deng’s birthday banquet. All meetings have been postponed.”
Fu Haoyan picked up his suit jacket from the back of his chair, preparing to leave.
Noticing A-Le’s hesitation, he asked, “Something else?”
After a brief pause, A-Le spoke up, even though it wasn’t work-related. “That electric guitar—it’s from a British brand. It’s discontinued, and the craftsman who made it has already retired.”
“Then don’t come with me to Macau tonight. Fly to Weigelan yourself.”
A-Le hesitated. “But Boss, if I don’t go with you, I’m worried about your safety…”
With a background in special forces, A-Le wasn’t just an assistant—he was also Fu Haoyan’s bodyguard.
“Enough. Don’t come back unless you find it.”
With that, Fu Haoyan headed to the helipad atop the Fu Group headquarters, boarded a helicopter, and flew to Macau.
Macau’s entertainment scene was thriving, and its extreme sports culture added to the city’s adrenaline-filled atmosphere.
The Lei family had also received an invitation. Lei Zhiying, eager to break into high society, wasn’t about to miss the opportunity.
Lei Shaoxin, on the other hand, had little interest but was forced to accompany her.
By the time they entered the venue, the banquet hall was already packed.
The invitation had been extended to Lei Jiu, and the sisters were only attending in his place—they didn’t even know Sir Deng personally.
Unexpectedly, He Zhuosheng was there too. The moment Lei Shaoxin spotted him, irritation flashed across her face, and she turned to leave.
But before she could, a pair of hands landed on her shoulders, turning her around completely.
Startled, she looked up—only to see a familiar face. Instantly, she relaxed.
Fu Haoyan raised an eyebrow, leaning close to her ear as he murmured, “Stay and watch the show—it won’t take long.”
He didn’t let go of her, instead keeping an arm around her shoulders as he led her toward Sir Deng.
“Godfather, happy birthday,” Fu Haoyan greeted, gesturing for his assistant to present the gift.
“Haoyan, and who is this?” Sir Deng asked with a warm smile.
“The eldest daughter of the Lei family—Lei Shaoxin.”
“Sir Deng, happy birthday,” she said with a polite nod and a gentle smile.
“When did Lei Jiu end up with such a beautiful daughter?” Sir Deng joked.
Fu Haoyan grinned playfully. “Godfather, don’t just focus on the beauty—what about me?”
Sir Deng chuckled and lightly patted Lei Shaoxin’s hand. “Shaoxin, keep this rascal in line for me.”
Flustered, she began to explain, “Sir Deng, we’re not—”
But before she could finish, another guest called out to him. Sir Deng excused himself, leaving them to mingle freely.
Not far away, He Zhuosheng had witnessed everything. His hand tightened as he maneuvered his wheelchair toward them.
Just as Fu Haoyan and Lei Shaoxin turned, they saw him approaching.
When he got close, Fu Haoyan leaned down and said quietly in his ear,
“Mr. He, did you like my gift?”
The words were soft—but loud enough for Lei Shaoxin to hear. She glanced at Fu Haoyan.
He Zhuosheng remained outwardly calm, his gaze shifting to Lei Shaoxin.
Under his stare, she felt a sudden discomfort.
Without another word, Fu Haoyan wrapped an arm around her and led her out of the hall.
Looking up at him, she asked, “Zhuosheng Group’s stock crashing—that was your doing?”
He nodded. “Smart.”
Suppressing a smile, she teased, “Why aren’t you wearing the suit I gave you?”
“Too precious to wear.”
Back inside, He Zhuosheng watched their retreating figures. He gestured to his assistant, leaned in, and whispered an instruction.
From a distance, Lei Zhiying had witnessed everything. With a smile, she downed her glass of champagne in one go.
Knock, knock, knock.
Lei Shaoxin was woken by persistent knocking.
She grabbed a silk robe from beside her bed, slipped it on, and went to open the door.
Standing outside was a hotel staff member.
Outside the door, a hotel staff member pushed in a breakfast cart.
“Miss Lei, this was prepared for you by Mr. Fu. He said he’ll take you somewhere later.”
After delivering the message, the staff left.
Lei Shaoxin had originally planned to return to the city that day, but since Fu Haoyan was here, she decided to stay a few more days.
After getting ready, she went down to the hotel lobby. There, she saw Fu Haoyan standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, hands in his pockets, backlit by the morning light.
The shadows highlighted his sharp jawline, his tall frame giving off an unapproachable aura—like a tiger waiting for the right moment to strike.
Dressed casually, he looked completely different from his usual suited image.
When she approached, he said simply, “I’m taking you bungee jumping.”
Ever since the racetrack, he had noticed how much she enjoyed extreme sports.
“Sounds great!” Her eyes lit up with excitement.
He took her to the highest bungee platform in Macau.
He had her jump first, with himself scheduled right after.
Once strapped into the harness, Lei Shaoxin stood at the edge, turned back toward him, and flashed a cheerful peace sign.
He returned the gesture.
Without hesitation, she spread her arms and leapt.
After landing safely, she looked back up at the towering platform, smiling as she followed the staff inside to remove her gear.
As she stepped out, she ran straight into Fu Haoyan, who had just come out of the elevator.
She jogged up to him, hands on her hips, tilting her chin up teasingly.
“Well, Boss Fu? Got scared?”
He laughed despite himself. “Mind your own business.”
“Why do you like extreme sports?” he asked, his lips curving slightly as he saw how happy she looked.
Her face still carried the thrill. “Because for a moment… you get to forget everything.”
Macau was also home to the largest racetrack in Asia, and soon, Fu Haoyan brought her there.
“Get in—I’ll teach you how to drift,” he said, leaning casually against the car.
She nodded and got into the passenger seat while he took the wheel to demonstrate.
“First, hit the gas.”
“Start turning here—pull the handbrake. Feel the rear sliding?”
She nodded.
“Now counter-steer.”
“Got it?” he asked.
“Yeah,” she replied.
They switched seats.
On her very first try, she successfully pulled off a drift.
They continued racing around the track, and after a few laps, she had already gotten the hang of it.
Stepping out of the car, she raised an eyebrow at him.
“So? Pretty talented student, right?”
He nodded with a smile.
After a full day of excitement, she was both satisfied and exhausted. Back at the hotel, she went to bed early.
Ring, ring…
Early the next morning, she was woken by her phone.
The bright screen made her frown as she answered without even checking the caller ID.
“Sis, are you still in Macau?” Lei Zhiying’s anxious voice came through immediately.
“Yeah,” Lei Shaoxin replied lazily.
“Come help me—I’m at the Fu family’s casino.”
Before she could respond, the call ended.
After asking around, she finally found the exact location of the casino.
Rubbing her forehead, she muttered, “What a headache…”
Half an hour later, she arrived at a private office inside the casino. She knocked once, and the luxurious double doors swung open from inside.
The moment she stepped in, she saw Lei Zhiying sitting on the sofa, a red handprint clearly visible on her pale cheek.
Four burly casino guards stood nearby—it was obvious she had already been “taught a lesson.”
Walking over, Lei Shaoxin asked, “What happened?”
Lei Zhiying lowered her head, saying nothing.
Fu Haoyan, seated behind a large desk in the center of the opulent office, took a drag from his cigar and spoke calmly,
“Miss Lei lost five million at my casino. She still owes three million.”
Lei Shaoxin looked toward him.
People who couldn’t repay their debts were common in casinos—so why would the boss himself step in?
“Please, help me,” Lei Zhiying suddenly dropped to her knees. “They set me up! I kept winning at first, then I started losing everything—that’s why I borrowed money!”
Lei Shaoxin looked down at her coldly.
“Oh? Now I’m your ‘sister’?”
She let out a soft scoff.
“I can help you—but I have one condition.”
