Jiang Yu sat in the driver’s seat, slightly out of breath.

As expected, fighting was good for both body and mind.

Just moments ago, she had been furious enough to kill someone. Now she felt strangely refreshed.Full novel: Mr. Shen, Your Devoted Wife Filed for Divorce and Disappeared — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She glanced at the passenger seat, where the man’s shirt was disheveled and his face was dark with anger, and said irritably, “What are you standing there for? Get out.”

Shen Chengyan adjusted the rearview mirror and looked at the scratches on his face and the bite marks on his neck, his brows tightly furrowed.

Jiang Yu showed no guilt at all. “Try me again and I might actually scratch you to death next time.”

With a sharp snap, he pushed the mirror back up, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her toward him. His gaze was cold as ice. “Why wait for next time? Why don’t you just kill me this time?”

Jiang Yu was startled by his vicious expression. “What, planning to learn from your useless brother and beat your wife?”

He let out a low, mocking laugh. “Weren’t you so fierce just now? Why are you stuttering?”

Embarrassed and enraged, she shook off his hand. “Get off.”

He withdrew his arm and irritably tugged at his tie. “How long are you planning to keep this up?”

Jiang Yu found it ridiculous.

This damn man still thought she was just throwing a tantrum?

“If you’ve chosen to stand with your mother, then why won’t you divorce me? Go marry Hu Youyue instead. Your Shen family would be perfectly satisfied.”

Shen Chengyan said calmly, “So you’re throwing a divorce tantrum because you feel neglected? Because I didn’t pay enough attention to you?”

Before she could respond, he continued evenly, “Gifts every holiday, no cheating during business gatherings, no smoking or drinking because you don’t like it, sex four times a week, and I satisfy you every time. I’ve done everything a husband should do. What exactly are you still dissatisfied with?”

Jiang Yu laughed in disbelief. “And you’re proud of that? Aren’t those basic things a husband should do?”

He nodded. “Yes, they are. Then what about what a wife should do—serve her husband, take care of the household, respect the elders? Why can’t you do that?”

That was all it took. Her anger exploded again.

“Go to hell!” she shouted. “I’ve been a damn servant in your Shen family for years! I did everything I was supposed to and even things I wasn’t supposed to do! And you? Your attitude? You always side with your mother—have you ever sided with me even once?!”

Shen Chengyan’s temple throbbed violently. He turned his head slowly, clearly even more furious than her. “If I don’t side with you, why did I go through so much trouble to marry you?”

Jiang Yu sneered. “A marriage without even a wedding?”

He froze.

She turned away and looked out the window.

They had only registered their marriage—no wedding at all.

And in their circle, that was a humiliation.

Weddings mattered more than certificates. Without one, she became the subject of gossip, mocked as a wife who couldn’t be shown in public.

Even the Shen family heir had not given her a wedding. People said she was unpresentable.

Shen Chengyan looked at her profile. “We didn’t just skip the wedding. I even used a stolen household registration book to get married. You know how much my mother opposed you. And I told you clearly we couldn’t have a wedding. What did you say back then?”

She didn’t respond.

He grabbed her shoulder and pulled her toward him, his voice suddenly raised. “Stop pretending. I’m asking you.”

She snapped, “Yes, I said I didn’t care about the wedding and only wanted you. But I didn’t care—other people did! Do you know how it felt to be pointed at and laughed at?”

“So you’re throwing everything away because of rumors?”

“Do you even know what the last straw means?” she said coldly. “This isn’t just about one thing. There are too many problems between us. It’s already beyond fixing. Divorce is the cleanest solution.”

His jaw tightened. “Have you ever thought about your son? Divorce would make him a single-parent child.”

Jiang Yu replied flatly, “A loveless married couple is worse for a child than a divorce.”

“Loveless?” His eyes turned even colder. “So all those times you said you loved me were fake?”

She rolled her eyes. “A man who would save his mother first if both his mother and wife were drowning—what right does he have to talk about love?”

She had overheard that years ago during a party game.

Truth or Dare. Shen Chengyan had been asked the question. Without hesitation, he had said, “My mother.”

No hesitation. No doubt.

At the time, she hadn’t felt much.

But it had etched itself into her memory.

Now, it only made her angry.

“Get out,” she said. “I’m going home.”

“I’m coming with you.”

“Drive your own car.”

“The car’s broken. The driver took it for repairs.”

“That’s such a cheap excuse.”

“……”

“Call your assistant.”

“He’s off work.”

“Then take a taxi.”

“When there’s a car, why would I take a taxi?”

Jiang Yu was speechless.

“This is ridiculous. Why are you being so shamelessly clingy?”

Shen Chengyan smiled faintly, deliberately provoking her. “Because it’s fun. Extremely fun.”

Watching her lose control while doing nothing about it amused him.

He calmly fastened his seatbelt. “Let’s go.”

Jiang Yu: “……”

What a piece of trash.

She drove home like a race car driver, furious all the way.

Even the usually unbothered Shen Chengyan felt sick in the passenger seat, his brows tightly locked.

When they finally arrived, Jiang Yu slammed the car door and stormed inside without waiting.

Shen Chengyan stood in the yard for a moment to recover, then followed in.

The moment he stepped into the living room, Jiang Yu coldly threw a contract straight at his face.

“Sign it.”
