When Lucian and Mountain Tim tracked down Johnny and the others in the city, they were sitting in the snow, drinking a bottle of cheap red wine.
Johnny’s expression held a sense of calm after sorrow.
The arrival of Mountain Tim and Lucian together surprised Gyro; he hadn’t expected these two to cross paths.
Lucian spoke up before anyone else: “I told you our next meeting wouldn’t be long.”
Gyro nodded helplessly, then said with a slightly teasing tone, “It certainly hasn’t been long; not even a day has passed.
So, have you been following us the whole time?” He was naturally a fairly lively person.
Seeing that they indeed knew each other, Mountain Tim finally lowered his guard.
Johnny felt the corpse part within Lucian.
It was obvious that the corpse part he had just traded away had fallen into his hands; the corpse parts could sense each other.
This left Johnny feeling somewhat dejected, as if he had been outmaneuvered by this Easterner before him.
Lucian nodded: “Of course.
There is only one path forward.
It was inevitable that I would follow you.”
Noticing Johnny’s expression, Gyro asked thoughtfully, “It seems you managed to get your hands on the Saint’s ears.
You know the rules of Sugar Mountain, right?”
Although it was a question, he was certain that Lucian knew the rules.
He might even know how to obtain the corpse part.
Seeing this, Lucian didn’t bother to argue and answered frankly: “Of course, I know the rules.
To gain, one must first give up.
Only those who dare to sacrifice everything can ultimately harvest everything.”
Johnny said with a hint of resentment in his tone: “But it looks like you haven’t given up anything.”
“You are the ones who need to undergo the test, not me.
The Saint’s Corpse will not end up in my hands in the end.
I am merely holding it for a certain period.
Therefore, fate will not test someone who is not in its plan.
Clearly, I am such a person.”
The two confirmed that it was Lucian who had taken the corpse part that Johnny had given to the assassin, but as previously stated, even if Johnny found the corpse, he wouldn’t give it to Lucian, so naturally, the corpse belonged to whoever held it.
As for whether Johnny would accept this after hearing Lucian’s explanation, that was unknown.
Mountain Tim began to understand; so when he had encountered Lucian before, he really had been killing and robbing, it was just that the target happened to be an assassin sent by Valentine.
“I will hand over the corpse to the most suitable person at the appropriate time.”
As for who the suitable person is, that depends on the specific situation at that time.
All rights of interpretation belong to Lucian.
Gyro stopped dwelling on the ownership of the corpse and changed the subject: “So, is this your Stand ability?
You are able to know things that others do not?”
If someone could predict the future, dealing with Valentine would be much easier.
Lucian didn’t answer directly: “Perhaps.
Asking about someone else’s Stand ability directly is impolite.” He thought about what Norisuke Higashikata had said about Stands.
“At least you can tell us about Funny Valentine’s ability; you should know quite a bit of information about him.
He is the enemy of us all, isn’t he?”
Even if one knew Valentine’s Stand ability in advance, it wouldn’t be easy to deal with, so telling these three didn’t matter.
Thinking of this, Lucian spoke up: “Do you believe in parallel worlds?”
Gyro frowned and replied: “Since you ask that way, it seems they exist.
So, did you come from a parallel world?”
If that were the case, it would explain why Lucian knew so much; he had come from a parallel world.
Realizing that Gyro and the others had misunderstood, Lucian quickly explained: “No, I am not from a parallel world.
What I want to tell you is that Funny Valentine can travel to parallel worlds.
And there are infinite parallel worlds.”
The three were confused; what could traveling to parallel worlds do?
Could he grasp information from elsewhere in advance?
Lucian continued to explain to the three: “His Stand ability allows his counterparts in different parallel worlds to synchronize memories.
Once his main body dies, a version of him from a parallel world will take over his position.
So, he has countless lives.
Perhaps the version of him in this world died long ago.”
An unkillable enemy—this made all three feel a sense of dread.
Lucian glanced at these two cheaters; Diego’s method was certainly not suitable for them.
However, Tusk Act 4 could attack across dimensions.
Johnny would personally cross the dimensional wall and beat him up.
He would let the protagonist discover that for himself; he couldn’t give away all the information at once.
So-called growth required the protagonist to discover the secrets himself.
“There must be limits to Funny Valentine crossing dimensions, right?”
“There are indeed necessary conditions for activation, but they don’t count as restrictions.
The conditions are very easy to meet.
After all, there are strengths and weaknesses among Stands.”
For example, Mountain Tim’s ability wasn’t very strong, and his own ability wasn’t considered powerful either.
Perhaps that had to do with him not having developed it.
Generally speaking, simple abilities like this were quite powerful.
“What is the function of the Saint’s Corpse?” Although almost everyone was fighting for it, Mountain Tim didn’t actually know.
“I feel like Gyro Zeppeli should know this; the existence of the Saint is, of course, to trigger miracles.”
Gyro picked up the remaining half bottle of red wine on the ground, poured some for the two who had just arrived, and said, “We are toasting to the ball that hits the net.”
“A good reason,” Lucian praised repeatedly.
The fates of the others were almost predetermined.
Only he was that ball that hit the net.
Then, after taking the wine glass, he drank it in one gulp.
Mountain Tim thought for a moment and extended an invitation to Lucian: “Anyway, I’ve already retired from the race; why don’t you travel with me?” He wanted to keep watch over the corpse by his side.
Lucian shook his head and declined Mountain Tim’s invitation to travel together: “I plan to go back and check on Sugar Mountain.
Johnny Joestar has completed the Saint’s trial.
Those people trapped in the trees should be released.
They are people from at least decades ago.
I plan to go back and see if there are any changes in them.”
Lucian wanted to see what fate had done to them.
At the moment the Saint’s power disappears, will the power of time reappear in them?
What state are they in now?
He hoped that under the Saint’s miracle, they were unharmed.
After the trial of the corpse ended, would the Stand composed of the spring and the tree disappear?
Mountain Tim wouldn’t give up his idea easily: “I’m actually quite interested in people from decades ago; why not take me along to see them?”
“Following me is very dangerous, and you have other things to do, right?” Lucian again refused the request to travel with him.
