Exchanging a stoneless tungsten band for the safe return of her phone, Callie was amused to discover that the lock screen protection had been triggered more than a handful of times. Naturally she didn’t begrudge Megan’s unsuccessful attempts to take a peek at her personal life, but there was hardly anything the wolfgirl kept on her phone beyond a million pictures of Xena and the occasional floral photograph.
While Megan was eager to slip on the ring and begin building the false ‘dating’ narrative, the wolfgirl left her companion piece at home. It was one thing if the other girl wanted to pretend to whatever fantasy had been mixed-up in her religion-addled thoughts, but the amazon had her sights set on an entirely different romantic coupling. Gripped by stubborn apprehension, the amazon struggled to swallow her pride and press on toward her relationship goals.
As the school year passed out of the last dregs of Summer and into Fall proper, Jersey neared the end of her third trimester with a month or two mysteriously disappearing into the circumstances of her wish. Callie had always harboured a sense of protectiveness towards the other girl, but that instinct sharpened as the final few weeks crept up on the pair, bringing another set of desires along with it.
What had started as adorably-oversized 28J nursing bras had instead become aptly snug fits as the little cow’s milk came in. Finding that her output was as voluminous as her enormous udders themselves, Jersey had eventually decided to drop out of school altogether as her demanding milking schedule became too much to deal with on top of the fatigue and reduced mobility of her gravid state. None of her classmates or teachers were particularly surprised by that development, of course, and the popular sentiment was that she wouldn’t ever be continuing her education, either; some of the more empathetic girls thought she might pursue a GED at some nebulous point in the future, but even they didn’t truly believe their own optimistic speculation.
Sadly Callie couldn’t see to her minicow’s needs during her own studies, and so her mornings and afternoons settled into a comfortable rhythm as she helped the other girl handle the regular burden of her production, the sisters treating each other to mutual creamy (and cream-filled) satisfaction. Most-often, especially in the late evening, the amazon found it much easier to ensure Jersey properly ‘milked-out’ when she herself was wolfed-out, and if the little cow had any complaints regarding the introduction of the knot and very gentle (but very sharp) fangs into the equation, she didn’t voice any of them.
Not that she wasn’t vocal during the process, of course; the minicow’s enthusiastic mooing had quickly necessitated the use of a gag, and while Callie’s clawed hand often made a fine-enough muffler they nevertheless resorted to purchasing a product made for the express purpose. Sometimes Genie or Kelly would be gracious enough to pitch in, and on such occasions the wolf found she rather enjoyed being a ‘natural gag,’ even moreso once Jersey demonstrated the incredible length of her tongue; at first it had been too much of a strange and distracting experience to get eaten-out in the middle of a blowjob, but eventually Callie warmed up to the unexpectedly exhilarating special treatment.
As soon as Jersey discovered that her older sister could still enjoy cunnilingus during her refractory period, the little cow had taken it on herself to encourage extending their playtime through dedicated oral; seeking pleasurable revenge, the amazon in turn learned her broad and muscular wolf tongue could hit several good spots at once, which only encouraged the minicow to ask for wolfed-out Callie at the end of almost every night. With colder weather approaching it was impossible for the taller girl to argue that fluffy-mode cuddling wasn't exactly as cozy and comfortable for the wolf as it was for her mate, and eventually Jersey’s bed resembled a nest more than anything else as a result.
It wasn't a perfect companionship, but nothing ever was, and Callie found solace in the physical connection with Jersey even as she fretted over her role in the little cow’s life, that considerate anxiety multiplying whenever she thought about the not-couple’s place in the wider world. Still, that worry was tempered by the solidity of her bestial frame and almost a decade of her consuming infatuation with the little cow, sparking a resolute determination.
Sure, the everyday news became increasingly dire as the transgender community was repeatedly pushed into the spotlight by the country’s embarrassingly-evil administration, every other story bookended by horrific reports of brutal scandals perpetrated by immigration enforcement officers, but inside the safety of the little home and Jersey’s warm embrace the amazon could push the darker thoughts out of her mind long-enough to stay sane.
The wolf inside her, however, became increasingly agitated, her claws and teeth itching to hunt. Conscious of her growing aggression, Callie contented herself with the knowledge that Megan’s debut would undoubtedly reveal a wealth of targets.
Not everything was sex or violence, of course, and the amazon even found a way to enjoy her otherwise perfunctory school life.
Once the American football season started up, the wolfgirl had become a sought-after commodity; owing to her impressive build and years of experience playing the game back in highschool, she proved to be an effective assistant coach and trainer, rapidly developing the once-pathetic City High School Wolves’ defensive teams into respectable athletes with a credible shot at regional titles. Naturally one good turn demanded another, and soon Callie was ping-ponging back and forth between extracurricular activities, lending a hand with everything from charity bake sales to occasionally filling in as backup drum major for the school’s marching band. With as good as her grades were none of her teachers ever complained about her taking absences from classes to participate in such activities, and the wolfgirl quickly decided that playing a well-liked gopher was much more amusing than sitting through what had to be her twentieth Socratic discussion of Hamlet.
Still, the wide-spread assumption of her ‘team player’ spirit meant that she was drawn into things whether she actually wanted to be or not. Her time at school took on a life of its own, creating obligations and expectations that she was required to fill. Even though she had almost no desire to see whether or not the City High Wolves could make it to the state playoffs, she was still required to sit through a number of their home games and occasionally a few away as well; faking sick or a conflicting a commitment was always possible, of course, but there was one game that year that she couldn’t duck even if she wanted to.
Wrapped in blankets featuring City High colours, Callie and her littler sister sat next to each other in the bleachers on the Home side of the City High Memorial Football Field, surrounded by a packed crowd of their fellow students. Normally the older girl preferred to sit with the marching band, but Jersey’s condition made the wolf hypervigilant of anything that could potentially harm her or her little ones. In fact, Callie had attempted to dissuade Jersey’s attendance altogether, but the sweet girl demanded to accompany her.
Why? The answer was a single word, a portmanteau instantly recognizable to any highschooler in the states: Homecoming.
The associated party wasn’t until the weekend, but that Friday evening was the true highlight of the event. Boosting the ‘school spirit’ aura to an incredible magnitude, the game promised to be the hypest of the season, the City High Wolves determined to show off in front of the assembled mass of a few thousand students and alumni. Never one to be particularly committed to a team on her own, Callie had to admit that Homecoming games had an entirely different atmosphere, and it was hard not to get lost in the energy of it all.
Of course the highlight of the event was the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen during the halftime show, but the wolfgirl wasn’t particularly invested in that little bit of theater. Those roles were routinely won by the most-popular boy-girl pair in the school, who almost always happened to be dating on top of it; generally speaking, whoever the most stereotypical possible picks might be were usually guaranteed to be the winner, and so Callie had barely paid attention to the balloting that made its way around the Junior and Senior classes. Leaning into what was expected of her, she had voted for Elsa and Dario, the energetic and dedicated duo that served as president and vice president of the City High Associated Student Body. ASB officers were always extremely popular ⸻ they’d have to be in order to even be elected in the first place ⸻ and so they made obvious choices for King and Queen.
As the blistering first half of the City High Wolves versus their rivals, the Saint Germaine Academy Saints, came to a close, Callie tuned out as the marching band filed out onto the field to play their show. Watching with barely a passing interest, she contented herself with the knowledge that she’d helped shape-up the abysmal spatial awareness of the brass section, even if the woodwinds still didn’t quite understand how to project enough volume in an open-air setting. All in all it was a decent showing with a few clever formations, and Callie found herself smiling as she leaned in closer to Jersey, putting her arm around the younger girl’s small frame.
“Feeling alright?” she asked, slightly concerned at how the falling temperatures might be hitting the other girl; it certainly wasn’t nearly half as cold as Homecoming games could get back at the highschool where she’d grown up, but she wasn’t that callous to assume everyone handled cold the same, and especially not a days-away-from-sixteen-years-old expectant mother.
“Just brilliant,” Jersey replied with a beaming smile. “The boots are keeping my toes nice and warm, and the blankets are very cozy.”
“Let me know if that changes, okay?” Callie implored seriously. “I don’t want to risk anything.”
An overcautious wolf, she’d brought along some chemical heating packs just in case the weather dipped and they had to wait for a ride back to Kelly’s. Obviously they were overkill in the Californian Fall, but Callie wanted to err on the side of caution for her first pregnancy ⸻ err, for Jersey’s first pregnancy, rather. As far as the wolfgirl knew, she was hardly involved in the affair at all.
“I still want to see how the voting turned out,” the shorter girl reminded her. “It’s exciting, right? Crowning the King and Queen and all that.”
“Sure, if you’re seventeen,” Callie scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“And you are seventeen,” Jersey grinned back, sticking out her tongue. “There’s no crime in enjoying being a teenage girl, is there?”
“I guess not,” the taller girl shrugged, nonplussed.
The two quieted as the band’s performance came to an end, the members filing back into their allotted block in the stands as the cheerleading squad filled the dead air with some call-and-response games. Once the marching band was situated again, the highlight of the evening finally kicked off.
Stepping out onto a slightly-risen stage constructed for the purpose of highlighting the ceremony, Dario and Elsa came out with big smiles for the crowd, raising their arms to encourage enthusiastic cheering. Surrounded as they were by their fellow students, it was hard for Callie not to follow along, cheering just as loudly as the ASB officers took the stage. Of course the mics the two had been given didn’t work the first time, and Dario engaged in a familiar bit of clowning pantomime to entertain the crowd while they fixed the sound system. Having volunteered alongside him during a handful of events, the wolfgirl had always found him to be a pleasant and jovial young man, even after immigration enforcement officers broke down the door of his brother’s place and arrested the elder Arias and his girlfriend Kyung-ah ⸻ or, perhaps, his deliberate good cheer in spite of the cruel treatment was an act of defiance, and one that Callie deeply respected.
After a bit of opening banter between Elsa and Dario, they successfully worked the crowd of students and alumni up to the appropriate excitement level necessary for the festivities. As City High was one of the larger highschools in the city and pulled from a fairly diverse economic background, being chosen as King and Queen was a bit of a big deal; even Assistant Chief Baxter was in attendance along with other alumni luminaries, lending a sort of prestige to the ensuing coronation.
“Without further ado,” Dario said in his bright and clear voice, flashing a thousand-megawatt smile to the crowd, “it’s time to announce your choice for the City High School Wolves Homecoming King and Queen!”
“I’ve got the envelope right here!” Elsa cheered, waving a decorative slip towards the audience. “You want me to open it?”
“I don’t know,” Dario joshed playfully, turning back to the students. “Do you want her to open it?”
The crowd’s cheer resounded inside the little ‘stadium,’ matched by enthusiastic and showy howls from the football team that had crowded around the stage.
Sharing an amused laugh, Dario motioned for Elsa to break the seal on the paper. Unfolding it with a theatrical flourish, the perky blonde made a show of examining the card with a shocked expression on her face; as the lead in the upcoming highschool production of Beauty & the Beast, it was unsurprising that her stage emoting carried so well.
“This can’t be correct!” Elsa gasped, pretending to be shocked. Flipping the card around, she displayed its markings to the audience. “It says our names on it, Dario!”
“Now I know that ain’t right,” he agreed, a sentiment matched by overly-dramatic nodding and gesturing from the assembled football players. Turning to address the crowd, he threw one arm wide, ever the consummate showman. “City High Wolves!” he demanded, “do you want us to be your Homecoming Royalty?”
Shocking the wolfgirl, the entire marching band stood up, raising their fists in the air as they shouted a unified “Hell no!” back at the stage.
“I said, ‘City High Wolves’!” Dario repeated, his eyes sparkling as he turned to the rest of the student body, gesticulating back and forth between himself and Elsa, “do you want us to be your Homecoming Royalty?”
Stunning the amazon even further, the rest of the gathered students got up from their seats around the surprised couple, adding their own “Hell no!” to the chorus.
As the emphatic rejection quieted down, Elsa shielded her eyes with her hand, making a show of scanning the bleachers. “Is Callie Brambell in the audience tonight?”
All around them, their peers encouraged Jersey and Callie to stand up, waving towards the stage.
“Come on down here, Miss Brambell!” Dario called. “Yes you, Callie! Bring Jersey with you too, why not.”
Baffled as to what exactly was going on, Callie allowed the little cow to take her by the hand, leading her down the steps and onto the little path that ran in front of the bleachers. Dragging her along towards the stage, she pulled the wolfgirl up the two short steps, the football players parting like an honour guard as they waved the couple forward, a few of them patting the taller girl on the back in spirited camaraderie.
Dario met them as they climbed onto the stage, extending a second envelope towards Callie and her sister. “Can you hold this for me, Jersey?” he winked, passing off the card.
Dumbstruck, the wolfgirl merely gazed out at the crowd as Dario and Elsa launched into a planned speech, somehow managing to ruin the most-important moment of the Homecoming event. She wasn’t the only one that had noticed, either; a few angry shouts popped up from the alumni section of the stands, the assembled adults growing irritated and restless as they frowned upon whatever chicanery was unfolding before them. “You see,” Elsa had been saying, “despite having only enrolled at the tail end of last year, Miss Brambell here is something of a legend at our highschool. Kind, smart, dependable, always willing to go the extra mile for her fellow students.”
“Hell, we’d put her on the defensive line if the state would let us!” Dario chuckled, drawing riotous laughter from the stands and amused howling from said defensive team.
“In light of all her amazing qualities,” Elsa continued, “Callie was nominated a record number of two-hundred and ninety-one times for City High’s Homecoming Queen, and seventeen times for Homecoming King.”
“Some of y’all are a little confused,” Dario ribbed, “but you’ve got the spirit.”
The crowd guffawed as his joke, the laughter of the students drowning out the growing protest of the increasingly agitated adults.
“But here’s the thing,” Dario said seriously, his jovial demeanor disappearing into simmering severity, “the school administration came to us, and asked Elsa and I not to put Callie Brambell on the ballot.”
The crowd erupted into boos, again covering up the comparatively meager outrage of the alumni.
“And when we asked them to give us a good reason why not,” Elsa snapped sharply, voicing the student body’s growing frustration at the revealed injustice, “they forbade us from putting her name on the ballot.”
The crowd booed even louder, the deep vibration shaking the stands. Stunned, Callie watched nearly two-thousand students become angry on her behalf, entirely unable to process what was happening in front of her. Though she knew she possessed an amount of popularity, she assumed it had something to do with her looks or her charity, but it had always been a surface-level concept to the wolfgirl. To see so many of her peers express their intolerance of what she herself believed to be a very minor offense was an impossibility, and her mind balked as she struggled to come to grips with the reality of it. Bewildered, she merely clutched Jersey’s hand as the other girl entwined her slender fingers with her own.
“So, to correct this glaring oversight,” Dario intoned gravely, “the City High ASB Officers took it upon ourselves to conduct our own vote.” His gleaming smile plastering itself over his face once more, the charming fellow turned towards Jersey, gesturing at the card she was holding. “Jersey, could you please open the envelope?”
As the much-smaller girl fiddled with the seal, Elsa had to practically crouch down next to her to provide a mic; a comical juxtaposition, it drew an amused chuckle from the crowd.
Unfolding the paper, Jersey grinned from ear to ear as she leaned towards the microphone, proud to read out the two words emblazoned in blocky ink. “Ah, it says that the City High School Wolves’ Homecoming Royalty is … Callie Brambell!” Giggling excitedly, she turned to show her sister the card before aiming it back at the crowd, proving the truth of her claim.
“City High Wolves!” Dario demanded of the assembled crowd, “do you want Callie Brambell to be your Homecoming Royalty?”
A deafening roar came from the marching band and the football team, the two groups howling like the school’s mascot in wild approval.
“I said,” Dario continued, flashing a conspiratorial grin at the amazon, “do you want Callie Brambell to be your Homecoming Royalty?”
Drowning out the angry shouting of several enraged alumni, all of whom were clambering out of their seats and stamping towards the stage, the City High collected student body unleashed spirited howls. Forming a protective barrier around the stage, the football team pushed back against the grown men trying to rush the ASB officers, presenting a solid wall in support of their elected queen.
“Sounds like it’s unanimous!” Elsa cheered, beaming along with Jersey as the two girls clapped enthusiastically for the amazon.
In a dramatic flourish, Dario made an entertaining show of placing the gleaming plastic crown on Callie’s head; as he took her arm and raised it triumphantly, the students cheered wildly, their shouts devolving into scattered attempts to chant the wolfgirl’s name.
Perhaps trying to end the festivities before a larger incident could spark, the teachers loyal to the administration and the stadium security themselves added to the press of bodies clashing with the football team, struggling to get around the armoured jocks. As more and more adults fought against children half their age, the Saint Germaine Academy students shocked their rivals by adding their own football team to the mix, the junior and senior players sticking up for a trans girl they didn’t even know in a touching show of solidarity. Soon the melee threatened to become an outright fight, angry men throwing punches at boys who dared defend a girl they wanted erased.
Dario and Elsa quickly led Callie and her sister out of the stadium as the clash boiled over, the gentlemanly young man giving the pair a ride home before the police could arrive. Officially, the ‘Homecoming Riot’ resulted in a forfeit for both teams, counting as a proudly-earned loss on their records. Dario and Elsa were removed from their ASB positions for two entire weeks in the aftermath of the event, a decision that the school administration was forced to reverse after hundreds of complaints and phone calls from students and their parents.
Unable to even attend the cancelled Homecoming dance to properly savour her victory, Callie still smiled despite herself whenever she recalled her unexpected coronation.
