Mutual Interest

Thirty-four-year-old Catherine "Cat" O'Neill lives her life one miserable day at a time, struggling to pull herself through gradschool and finally make something of herself in a decent career. Living on a teaching assistant stipend and caring for an aging Husky, the former mascot of her university, she's constantly caught-up in wishful thinking, imagining a better life: one where she's successful, beautiful, and dating her long-time crush and best friend, April. Unfortunately for her, the already-sad trajectory of her life nose-dives in the wake of anti-DEI reform, cutting her stipend and effectively forcing her to drop out of school before she can even defend her thesis. Sunk even lower than rock-bottom, Cat finds herself truly wishing for something to save her from herself ⸻ and luckily for her, she discovers it in the form of a real-life djinn who calls herself "Genie." Scarred by a difficult life, Cat convinces herself that wish magic is no real solution to her problems and attempts to foist Genie off onto someone else; as fate would have it, April becomes the new mistress of the djinn, and is determined that Cat receive the happy ending she deserves. Still, Cat's caution proves warranted once Genie begins to grant the well-meaning wishes, drawing out the bestial creature that lurks inside the unassuming woman and transforming her into a terrifying myth as alluring as it is dangerous: a Werewolf. Caught between her growing monstrous desires and her love for her best friend, Cat struggles to navigate an existence that promises to end in gore-slicked claws and blood-wet fangs. A literal wish-fulfillment narrative, "Mutual Interest" tells the story of a towering Werewolf and the women that come to love her. — Description from novelcodex.orgFull novel: Mutual Interest — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org
