“Better to die under the flowers than live without love!” Ethan had made up his mind—he wouldn’t leave any regrets before death.
At the very least, his resolute expression conveyed that much.
The ice-cold beauty froze for a moment before giving a slight nod.
The remnants of the drug still lingered in her system, and she could feel her body burning.
Fine.
If she was going to satisfy this man, she might as well indulge herself too.
Besides, her reason for killing Ethan was to keep today’s secrets buried—she couldn’t let him upload any evidence of their “love” online.
So she walked to the bed and lay down without hesitation.
Ethan wasted no time either.
In one swift motion, he rolled over—a full 360-degree spin—landing on top of her and pulling her into a tight embrace.
But suddenly, he realized he was clutching a foot instead.
Gritting his teeth, he pushed himself up with his arms, executing another breakdance-like spin.
The assassin lay still, eyes closed, her exquisite face slightly contorted—whether in agony or pleasure was unclear.
Meeting was hard, parting harder; strong hands lay waste to tender blossoms.
The air in the room grew thick with heat.
Whoosh!
Without warning, Ethan threw a punch—straight at the assassin’s temple!
His earlier bargain had been nothing but a ruse.
His real goal was to knock her out and escape, so he struck without hesitation.
But—
The assassin’s eyes snapped open, and before Ethan’s fist could land, she drove her own into his right eye.
Faster.
Harder.
Thud!
Before Ethan’s punch could connect, her fist had already smashed into his eye socket.
The emerald-encrusted ring on her finger sliced deep into his eyeball.
In that instant, a strange glimmer flashed—then vanished—into the depths of his pupil.
“Ah—!” Ethan howled in pain, clutching his right eye.
Thud!
The assassin struck again—this time, a brutal punch to his chest.
“Ahh!” Ethan let out another agonized scream, clutching his chest as he crumpled to the side.
The punch had struck even harder this time—it felt like his organs had been shattered, the pain so intense he nearly blacked out.
The beautiful assassin bared her teeth in a vicious grin.
In one fluid motion, she grabbed a nearby pillow and pressed it violently over Ethan’s face, snarling, “Time to pay for your little stunt earlier!”
Already exhausted and weakened from the brutal blow, Ethan could barely move his limbs.
But with death looming, he mustered every ounce of strength left, wrenching the pillow away.
BAM!
Without hesitation, the assassin drove another punch straight into his left eye.
Just like before, the moment her emerald ring pierced his eye, a strange glimmer vanished into his pupil.
This time, though, the impact left Ethan dazed and helpless.
After a brief, feeble struggle, he went limp, motionless on the bed.
The assassin kept the pillow pressed over his face for a full five minutes before finally pulling back.
She examined him coldly, confirming he was dead, then swung off the bed.
Snatching up his phone, she scrolled through it—only to realize there was no footage at all.
She’d been tricked.
Gritting her teeth, she hurled the phone out the back window.
Then, seething, she grabbed the pillow again and slammed it down onto Ethan’s head—once, twice, over and over, as if trying to bury him into the mattress.
“On top, huh? You wanted to be on top? I’ll show you on top!”
After a dozen furious smothers, she finally stopped.
With a sharp yank, she ripped the bedsheet away.
THUD!
Ethan tumbled off the bed, limbs splayed across the floor.
His eyes were wide open, mouth agape, frozen in an expression of sheer injustice.
The assassin folded the sheet neatly, tucked it into a bag, and meticulously tidied the room.
Then, with one swift leap out the back window, she vanished into the night.
Ethan lay still on the floor, lifeless—a victim of suffocation, waiting to be discovered by housekeeping the next morning.
But just five minutes later, a sudden flash of light erupted from both his eyes, like a bolt of electricity surging through his entire body.
His frame shuddered violently, and his eyelids fluttered.
“Wasn’t I… dead?” Ethan bolted upright, frantically patting his hands over his arms, then his face and eyes.
Everything felt real.
Pinching his thigh hard, he winced at the sharp pain.
Only then did he believe it—he was alive.
Then came something even more astonishing!
He suddenly realized the wall beside him had vanished—he could clearly see the couple next door showering together in their bathroom!
Looking up, he could distinctly see the figures in the apartment above!
Glancing down, the people below were just as visible!
“Can my eyes… see through things?” Ethan turned his gaze toward the opposite apartment and found he could also see the people inside—completely naked!
After a few more tests, he realized that as long as he squinted, he could see through anything within a fifty-meter radius!
X-ray vision!
His eyes could literally see through solid objects!
But then came something even more mind-blowing!
He could hear the couple next door whispering, the person across the hall answering a phone call, even the conversations happening downstairs!
If he focused, he could hear anyone speaking nearby with perfect clarity!
Testing further, he confirmed that within fifty meters, even the faintest murmurs were as clear as if they were spoken right next to him.
“Superhuman hearing? I can hear everything around me?”
After more experimentation, it was undeniable.
And during these tests, Ethan made another unexpected discovery—his eyes could also glimpse the past and foresee the future!
Though the visions only spanned a single day, it was still an incredible advantage.
“Hah! That bitch tried to kill me, but she only made me stronger!” Ethan laughed triumphantly, jumping to his feet.
“I always wanted to be a miracle doctor—now these powers will make it happen!”
He turned around and shook his fist at the rear window.
“You bitch, bet you didn’t see that coming!”
Suddenly, a sharp, burning pain flared up in his lower abdomen.
He sucked in a cold breath and quickly began massaging the area.
Just then, he felt a surge of heat emanating from his eyes, flowing straight down to his abdomen.
Almost instantly, the warmth spread, and the pain vanished.
“Strange,” he muttered.
“My eyes were injured just now, but not only have they healed, they can see through things and even generate heat. What’s going on? Could it be because of that assassin’s diamond ring stabbing into my eyes?”
Ethan didn’t have time to dwell on it.
Worried another assassin might show up, he quickly dressed and slipped on his shoes before heading for the door.
As he walked, he tested his newfound X-ray vision, probing its capabilities.
Taking the elevator down to the lobby, he spotted a commotion near the entrance—a crowd had gathered, shouting and gesturing.
A beautiful woman had collapsed on the floor.
Bystanders were frantically calling for an ambulance.
She lay motionless, her slender figure elegant, her delicate features strikingly lovely—easily a match for the assassin he had just encountered.
But unlike the killer, this woman was unconscious, her face pale as if gravely ill.
Something about her looked familiar.
Ethan stepped closer, and his brows instantly furrowed.
It was none other than Donna Snow, the renowned campus belle of Cloudshore Medical University—also known as the “Ice Queen”—and the very woman Ethan had secretly admired and pursued!
“Donna!” The name escaped his lips before he could stop himself, his heart clenching at the sight of her.
Squinting, he activated his X-ray vision to assess her condition.
What he saw next stunned him.
As he analyzed Donna’s illness, a red star suddenly flashed in his mind, followed by a detailed treatment method—and even a prescription for her full recovery!
“So my X-ray vision can do this too? It’s like a cheat code to becoming a miracle doctor!”
With newfound confidence, Ethan strode forward.
“Step aside—I’m a doctor. Let me take a look!”
At Ethan’s words, everyone turned to look at him.
Seeing him dressed in generic clothes and wearing a pair of faded white sneakers, they exchanged cold, dismissive smirks.
“You’re just a kid—what could you possibly know?” A towering man clad in black, who introduced himself as Donna’s bodyguard and personal physician, glared at Ethan.
“Even I can’t do anything for her right now.
You think you can?”
“Yeah, stop making things worse.
Just wait for the paramedics!” A curvy woman in a denim outfit, crouching beside Donna, shot Ethan a disdainful look.
Her face was round and pretty, her figure even more striking than the campus belle’s.
Ignoring their scorn, Ethan pointed to Donna’s delicate chin.
“Look beneath her jaw—do you see that silver needle?”
The burly man and the round-faced woman immediately turned their attention to Donna’s chin.
Sure enough, there it was—a fine silver needle, barely visible, its tip resembling a tiny red mole.
“What the hell is this?” The bodyguard, baffled, snapped his gaze back to Ethan.
“Yeah, how did a needle get there?” The woman echoed, her curiosity piqued.
“It’s a pressure point near the throat. If a skilled hand inserts a silver needle there, it can induce unconsciousness. In mild cases, the victim remains comatose; in severe cases, they become vegetative.” Ethan explained while scanning their surroundings.
“Think—who got close to her just now?”
The bodyguard and the woman exchanged wide-eyed glances before frantically searching the crowd.
But no matter how hard they looked, nothing seemed out of place.
Ethan, however, was different.
As he narrowed his eyes, the people around him seemed to “shed” their disguises.
Within seconds, a woman armed with a dagger and silver needles stood out starkly in his vision.
The moment he recognized her, a chill ran down his spine.
Her eyes burned with murderous intent, her face twisted in pure hatred as she glared straight at him.
It was none other than the beautiful assassin who had once killed him in bed.
