Damn it, enemies always cross paths!

Ethan had thought the beautiful assassin was long gone, but who would’ve guessed she’d come back?

Using his X-ray vision to observe discreetly, the scene from ten minutes ago flashed in his mind: the stunning assassin suddenly striking Donna in the middle of a crowded street!Full novel: My Assassin Wife Unlocks My Harem System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

What the hell?

She even went after Donna!

Was she trying to cripple her—or worse, kill her?

Who was pulling the strings behind this?

And why the hell was the assassin still hanging around?

In those brief seconds, Ethan’s mind raced with questions as he locked eyes with the killer.

The assassin stared back, her expression one of sheer disbelief.

She remembered vividly—she’d killed Ethan.

Even if he had nine lives, he should’ve been long dead.

Yet here he was, not only alive but even treating someone else’s injuries!

Gritting her teeth, she began inching closer.

She refused to believe that killing him a second time wouldn’t stick.

Noticing her stealthy approach, Ethan shifted slightly to the side.

Part of him wanted to shout, to warn everyone she was a killer—but would anyone believe him?

And right now, Donna needed immediate medical attention.

There was no time to expose the assassin.

Without hesitation, he reached for Donna’s chin.

“I’ll stabilize her!”

“Are you sure you can?” A round-faced beauty grabbed his wrist with surprising strength.

Ethan instantly recognized her grip—she was trained.

He glared at her.

“Would I step in if I wasn’t?”

“You’re serious? You’re so young—are you even a doctor?” She still didn’t trust him.

“Olivia, right? You’ve got a chronic issue in your left chest and a pulled muscle in your right leg. Am I wrong?” Ethan locked eyes with her.

Olivia froze.

“H-How did you know?”

“I also know your period ended yesterday.

I know it lasted about ten days with spotting.

And I know when it comes, you get cramps and breast pain…”

“Stop!

I believe you!” Olivia Stone broke into a cold sweat, her heart pounding as she urgently cut off Ethan’s words.

The burly man beside them gaped at Ethan in shock, his eyes burning with jealousy—how does this guy know all these intimate details when I’m around Olivia constantly and never noticed a thing?

Ethan gripped the silver needle embedded beneath Donna’s chin and yanked it out in one swift motion.

“Gasp… gasp… gasp…” Donna immediately began breathing rapidly, her limbs trembling violently.

“Is Donna okay?” Olivia asked anxiously, her gaze darting between Donna and Ethan.

“Her heart rate’s spiking dangerously—she’s at risk of cardiac arrest. We need to start CPR now!” Ethan spread both hands over Donna’s heaving chest and began forceful, rhythmic compressions.

Olivia and the burly man watched with bated breath.

Noticing how Ethan’s compressions were distorting certain…

contours, the burly man couldn’t stay silent.

“Let me take over.

As Donna’s personal physician, it’s my duty!”

“Since you’re so eager, fetch me a bottle of mineral water instead,” Ethan nodded at him without breaking rhythm.

Stunned, the man had no choice but to scramble up and search for water.

While performing CPR, Ethan kept covertly monitoring the assassin beauty beside them.

When he noticed her inching toward his back under the guise of concern, his mind flashed forward thirty seconds—her feigned worry, the silver needle plunging toward his spine, his sudden collapse moments after its withdrawal.

Damn!

This bitch still wants me dead!

Without hesitation, Ethan kicked off the ground in a frog-like leap, landing on Donna’s opposite side—directly atop Olivia.

“What are you doing?” Olivia gasped, whirling around to glare at Ethan.

Ethan felt something soft beneath him and quickly flashed an apologetic smile.

“Just adjusting my position—”

“What?!” Olivia recoiled, her eyes narrowing even further.

Ethan tried again.

“I mean, switching my stance—oh, never mind. We need to focus on saving Donna!”

He resumed performing CPR on Donna.

Olivia shot him a skeptical look, her lips pressed into a thin line before she moved to the other side and knelt down, gently calling Donna’s name.

As Ethan continued compressions, he noticed Donna’s condition stabilizing—she was out of danger.

He exhaled in quiet relief.

But he couldn’t let his guard down.

The beautiful assassin had stealthily circled around and was now, once again, creeping up behind him.

Just like before, his mind flashed forward—half a minute from now, she would strike.

Damn it, not again!

Gritting his teeth, Ethan had no choice but to leap like a frog.

Mid-air, he realized—with unfortunate timing—he was about to land on Olivia again.

“What the hell is wrong with you?!” She dodged aside, shooting him a furious glare.

If she weren’t busy trying to save Donna, she swore she’d have kicked him where it hurt.

Was this some kind of sick habit?

Crashing into women for fun?

Ethan’s face burned with embarrassment.

Pointing at Donna, he blurted, “Look! She’s getting better!”

Olivia noticed Donna had opened her eyes and, momentarily forgetting about Ethan, quickly moved to support her.

“Donna, you’re awake!”

“Don’t move!” Ethan reached out and grabbed Olivia’s arm.

“Donna shouldn’t be moved right now!”

Olivia jerked her arm free, glaring at him.

“You’d better stay put!”

Just then, someone outside shouted, “The ambulance is here!”

Everyone turned to look as an ambulance pulled up.

The doors swung open, and two doctors along with two nurses rushed in, pushing a gurney.

Ethan glanced at the ambulance, then at the assassin woman beside him, noticing she was stealthily closing in again.

He quickly sidestepped to the other side.

“Hmph, I knew you’d try something, which is why I stayed right by Donna’s side—better safe than sorry!” Olivia shot him a disdainful look, her lips curling in contempt.

Ethan groaned inwardly.

Lady, I really don’t have the energy for this right now!

By then, the medical team had arrived.

With Ethan and Olivia’s help, they carefully lifted Donna onto the gurney and began wheeling her toward the exit.

Ethan noticed a spare IV needle in the pocket of a nearby nurse’s uniform.

He discreetly slipped one out before following the medics toward the door.

“Hey kid, here’s the water!” The burly man wiped sweat from his brow as he handed Ethan a bottle.

“Thanks!” Ethan took it, unscrewed the cap, and gulped it down thirstily.

After everything that had happened, he was parched.

The burly man glared at him, clearly annoyed.

He’d assumed Ethan needed the water for Donna, not for himself.

If I’d known, I’d have let you die of thirst, you bastard!

As Ethan walked forward, he kept an eye on the assassin woman, who was closing in again.

He quickly stepped aside—only to bump shoulders with Olivia.

“You again!” Olivia snapped, her patience finally running out.

She suddenly swung her elbow, aiming a sharp jab straight at Ethan’s ribs.

Ethan dodged backward just in time.

But in that moment, the assassin woman seized her chance.

As Ethan retreated, she thrust a silver needle toward his lower back with deadly precision!
