While Mo Wang was clearing out the minor enemies, Kiana and Mei were currently enduring a battle far more brutal than what the ground forces were facing.
“Wait, Bronya!
I know I was wrong!
I shouldn’t have secretly deleted your game save files!
Calm down first!” Kiana shouted as she dodged to the side.
A missile grazed past her face, flying straight into the wall behind her, blasting a hole right through the warship.
Looking at the hole behind her, Kiana was covered in cold sweat.
Bronya’s entire body had turned pitch black, her eyes had become blood-red, and the word “Corruption” was written all over her.
Kiana regretted it now—she regretted it deeply.
At first, everything had been going fine.
They had been clearing out the Honkai Beasts along the way, and by the time they reached the control console, everything had been perfect.
Then she had to make that one comment: “This mission is way too easy.” And what happened next?
First, a bunch of Titans came out of nowhere, and then, right after they fled to this area, Bronya—their strongest firepower—got controlled and turned black.
She had been chasing down both her and Mei ever since.
What made it even more infuriating for Kiana was that Bronya had initially been targeting Mei, but then Kiana had made the mistake of mentioning how she’d secretly eaten Bronya’s snacks and deleted her game saves.
Suddenly, all of Bronya’s hatred shifted to her.
Now she was chasing Kiana with bloodshot eyes.
“Boom!” Another beam cannon, about half the size of Kiana’s body, shot straight toward her.
Kiana barely managed to dodge it with a cat-like leap.
“Seriously!
Are you even actually corrupted, or do you just want to kill me?” Kiana was becoming increasingly convinced that Bronya had faked her corruption just to take her out.
Why else would she be targeting only her?
Kiana wanted to protest, but it was clear that at this point, Bronya had sworn to eliminate that scoundrel Kiana.
In that moment, Kiana found herself lined up in the sights of dozens of cannon barrels behind the corrupted Bronya.
“Oh well, I’m screwed ╮( ̄— ̄)╭” Kiana shrugged as she looked at the cannons in front of her, even thinking about lighting up a cigar.
I mean, where could she even dodge to?
She looked around—if those cannons fired, wouldn’t they just punch straight through the entire warship?
The scene gave Kiana a feeling similar to when she first met Bronya.
But even back then, it hadn’t been this intense!
“I’m telling you, that whole ‘corruption makes you three times stronger’ thing doesn’t suit you at all!” Kiana continued to talk tough, already thinking about whether she could find some water to cushion her fall if she got knocked off.
“Kiana!” Just as Bronya’s main cannons were about to fire, Mei, covered in crackling lightning, suddenly burst out from the side, grabbing Kiana and pulling her out of the way of Bronya’s barrage.
Quite a few Anti-Entropy mechs and Honkai Beasts were taken out by that blast.
“What’s going on up there?
Why is the Moonlight Throne starting to catch fire?” Mo Wang, who had already sent the Valkyries back to the Hyperion, looked at the Moonlight Throne as it began to smoke, momentarily stunned.
Then he realized—Bronya must have started her corruption.
“Wasteful, so wasteful!
The best ship in Anti-Entropy, and you’re just blowing it up like that!” Mo Wang clutched his chest, feeling an intense pain.
Well, now he finally understood why they had to remove the main cannon and mount it on the Hyperion later.
It was because Bronya had blown up the ship so thoroughly that there was no money left to repair it, right?
“Mo Wang, you said the warship up there belongs to Anti-Entropy?” Fu Hua, standing beside him, looked at him with confusion upon hearing his words.
How did Mo Wang know that this mysterious ship was from Anti-Entropy?
“Oh, great immortal, isn’t it obvious?
In this day and age, the only ones who can build ships like this are either our Schicksal or our neighbors at Anti-Entropy.
With such a big production, it can’t be that our Overseer decided to put on a big show for everyone because the New Year is coming up, right?” Mo Wang glanced at Fu Hua.
Of course, he knew that besides the two public organizations, there was also the World Serpent—a true behemoth—that could build such warships.
But of course, he couldn’t say that out loud right now.
“That’s true.” Fu Hua didn’t deny it.
After all, a warship of this caliber couldn’t possibly be some cheap product from an unknown small manufacturer.
“Don’t overthink it, great immortal.
We should hurry up and go save those three.
I’m afraid if we wait any longer, we’ll be collecting their corpses.”
…
“Ow, that hurts.
Mei, are you okay?” Kiana was lying on the deck of the Moonlight Throne.
She hadn’t been hit by the cannon fire, but her head was throbbing painfully.
When Mei had pulled her away earlier, the sheer force of the impact had sent her crashing through the warship’s walls.
She was lucky her ribs hadn’t been shattered.
“Mei?
Wake up!
Mei!” However, in response to Kiana’s calls, Mei, who was lying on top of her, only let out a faint voice.
“Kiana, run…” With those final words, Mei—went offline.
“No!
Mei!
Great, the boss wasn’t even defeated yet, and her teammate had already gone down.
How were they supposed to fight now?!
Might as well surrender.
“No!
Mei, I can’t live without you!
How am I supposed to go on without you!” “We promised to be Valkyries together for life!
How could you just leave me behind like this~”
At that moment, the corrupted Bronya finally stepped out from the large hole in the deck.
“Damn it!
Duck!
Don’t think just because you’re corrupted that I can’t fight you!
Don’t think I’m easy to push around!” Kiana stood up, vowing to avenge Mei.
But at that moment, Bronya’s Heavy Armor Bunny, now stained black, raised dozens of cannon barrels, each one about the size of Kiana’s head.
(._.) (′~;) Kiana looked at her little pistol, then at the dozens of cannon barrels across from her.
“Gah!
How am I supposed to fight this?!
Can we just call a truce?” In response to Kiana, Bronya chose the simplest way to reply.
However, just as Bronya was about to fire, a baseball bat suddenly slammed into her head.
“Take this!
A righteous backstab!” When the bat hit Bronya’s head, she turned around with a confused look.
Those mechanical eyes seemed unable to comprehend where this person had come from.
“Bam!” Another powerful swing of the bat, and Bronya instantly went silent, collapsing to the ground.
“M-Mo Wang?” Kiana watched the entire scene in shock, feeling like her brain had been violated.
“Yes, child, it’s me—your savior has arrived!
Miss me?” Mo Wang gave Kiana a thumbs up, completely ignoring the duck lying unconscious in front of him.
[Diary of a Failure, Day Seven]: Huh?
It’s already day seven?
Why does it feel like time has gotten all messed up?
Must be my imagination (giving up.jpg)
