Yu Yixian was doing it on purpose.

After all, acting pitiful in front of the person she liked could be considered a little romantic thrill.

However, Yu Yixian didn’t expect that the effect of this attempt at playing the victim would almost make her unable to handle the situation.Full novel: My Ex-Girlfriend Has Always Been Secretly in Love with Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

As cool fingertips lightly brushed the mark left by the little snake, Yu Yixian turned her head in surprise, locking eyes with Ling Yun’s jet-black gaze. The words she wanted to say became stuck in her throat.

“Does it still hurt?”

Clearly, she could perceive the tenderness toward her in Ling Yun’s words, yet why did her scalp tingle? For a split second, she felt as if she were being tightly locked onto by some kind of wild beast, unable to move.

Ling Yun noticed the trembling in Yu Yixian’s eyes, and a rather wicked thought couldn’t help but rise in her heart. Her fingers continued to caress the skin at Yu Yixian’s collarbone.

“How pitiful.”

How cute.

Yu Yixian’s eyelashes fluttered incessantly, and a strange heat climbed up her body. Her consciousness felt like mush; she seemed to hear Ling Yun saying something, but she couldn’t hear it clearly. Her entire consciousness had been led astray by the fingers tracing her collarbone.

It wasn’t until the glaring lights of a fountain accidentally shone upon them that Ling Yun pulled Yu Yixian’s clothes together in an instant, hiding her behind herself.

“I’m sorry, you two little girls. My child is just too mischievous, I’m so sorry.” A gentle mother pulled her child’s hand, showing an apologetic look toward Yu Yixian and Ling Yun.

The child beside her seemed to know they had caused trouble, standing nervously in place, looking at Ling Yun with wide, fearful eyes.

Yu Yixian snapped out of it. At this moment, she was entirely in Ling Yun’s embrace, with her hands resting on her shoulders; her nose even accidentally brushed against her lips.

What a height difference perfect for kissing.

Yu Yixian was even spacing out again.

Ling Yun gave a faint “mm,” pulled the still-distracted Yu Yixian away, and left.

Arriving at the roadside, Ling Yun let go of Yu Yixian’s wrist. The two of them, with a tacit understanding, didn’t mention what had just happened.

“How are you getting home?” Ling Yun glanced unobtrusively at the cars parked nearby.

Yu Yixian was stunned, feeling a bit confused. How did the senior know I was going home? But thinking that she might have mentioned it, she didn’t think much of it.

“I called a car. How about you, Senior? Are you going back to school? Let me give you a ride.” Yu Yixian shook her phone; the driver had sent her a message ten minutes ago saying he had already arrived.

“No need. You go home early, and let me know when you arrive.” Ling Yun rejected Yu Yixian’s offer without saying where she was going next.

Seeing this, Yu Yixian didn’t feel it was appropriate to keep asking. She looked at Ling Yun with some reluctance and was just about to open the car door to leave when she suddenly remembered something. She closed the door and ran back.

“What is it?”

“Senior, our plan for tomorrow still stands, right?” Yu Yixian stared at Ling Yun’s eyes, looking pitiful.

Ling Yun curled her lips slightly, a gentle smile appearing on her cold face. “Of course. See you tomorrow.”

Yu Yixian received a definitive answer, her smile becoming even brighter. “See you tomorrow!”

Watching Yu Yixian leave, Ling Yun checked the time and chose to take the bus back to the hospital.

When she arrived at the hospital, Ms. Ling Qian was leaning against the head of the hospital bed, listening to a patient in the same room chatting. Seeing Ling Yun return, she looked surprised.

“Xiaoyun, why are you here so late? Come sit down and warm up.” Ling Qian beckoned.

Ling Yun walked over and bowed her head slightly, allowing her mother’s hand to stroke her. “I’m staying to keep you company tonight.”

Ms. Ling Qian looked completely disapproving. “Didn’t I say that Mom can take care of herself alone? Besides, there are nurses, you don’t need to stay.”

“I want to keep you company.” Ling Yun held Ms. Ling Qian’s hand.

A patient nearby watched the mother and daughter’s close relationship, and the envy in her tone was almost overflowing. “Look at the daughter you raised; she’s really good. Not like mine, who only knows how to work.”

Ling Qian touched her daughter’s face and, hearing the patient say this, replied modestly: “Your daughter is also very good. Being busy with work is also to earn money to show filial piety to you. Look at how many things she bought for you when she came by last time.”

“That’s true, it’s better for them to be working. You say, didn’t we struggle to support them through college just for this moment? Isn’t that the truth? By the way, I remember Xiaoyun is still single…”

Ling Qian signaled to Ling Yun, telling her to ignore the woman’s words.

Ling Yun had never cared about what others said. Her heart was now only concerned with two people.

“Xiaoyun, go pour some water for Mom; this water is cold.” Ling Qian smiled helplessly, seeing that the patient was still rambling on.

Ling Yun walked out of the ward with the thermos. The woman’s voice could still be heard vaguely through the door panel.

“…My nephew is just a little older than Xiaoyun. If there’s an opportunity, let them meet.”

“Xiaoyun is still young, no rush.”

Ling Yun twitched her lips in mockery and turned away.

Whenever she wanted to do something impulsive, she would come to Ling Qian to face reality and force herself to calm down.

If it weren’t for being interrupted by that unexpected light from the fountain today, what would she have done? What was she going to do?

She didn’t know; Ling Yun herself didn’t know.

Ling Yun dropped her arms powerlessly, but accidentally touched something bulky.

The orange-shaped rabbit with its ears down was carefully lifted out of her coat pocket by Ling Yun, as if she were looking at its owner through the rabbit.

“What should I do? I simply cannot refuse you.”

…

The next day, Yu Yixian brought things to the place she and Ling Yun had agreed upon. She had arrived half an hour early, but she hadn’t expected that Ling Yun was already waiting for her.

Yu Yixian trotted over quickly. “Senior, why did you come so early?”

Ling Yun put her phone into her coat pocket and, watching Yu Yixian run over, reminded her to slow down.

“It’s fine! Look at this, isn’t it beautiful!” This level of physical activity didn’t count for much for Yu Yixian. She excitedly took out the best-looking candied hawthorn she had made, her eyes full of anticipation.

“It’s beautiful.” Ling Yun didn’t skimp on her praise, her eyes full of gentleness.

Ling Yun’s smile left Yu Yixian stunned, and she couldn’t help but whisper: “Senior, you’re a little different today.”

Ling Yun naturally knew about her own change, but she wanted to know, would Yu Yixian hate her change?

“Don’t you like it?”

“I like it!” Yu Yixian spoke without hesitation, so quickly that it made Ling Yun reveal a look of surprise.

“Ahem.” Seeming to realize her reaction just now was too fast, Yu Yixian put her hand in a loose fist to her lips and coughed slightly. “By the way, Senior, hurry and taste this. It must be even more delicious.”

Ling Yun took a small bite. Although this candied hawthorn was prettier and tasted better, she still felt that the strawberry candied hawthorn from yesterday was ranked number one in her heart.

After Ling Yun finished one, she noticed Yu Yixian’s gaze occasionally falling on the candied hawthorn in her hand. Suddenly, the idea of teasing the cat arose. She snapped off the sharp point of the candied hawthorn and placed the fruit at the edge of Yu Yixian’s lips.

“Open your mouth.”

Yu Yixian opened her mouth and leaned forward subconsciously, but she missed completely. She looked at Ling Yun in confusion and discovered the smile in her eyes, snapping out of it instantly.

Senior is teasing me.

Yu Yixian tried to lean forward again tentatively, and Ling Yun’s hand moved just as she expected.

How could one tease a cat without getting scratched?

Yu Yixian raised her eyebrows slightly, immediately stepping forward. In Ling Yun’s surprised gaze, she rested one hand on her shoulder and held her hand with the other, taking a big bite and successfully eating half of the fruit.

Not only that, but Yu Yixian also immediately pushed her luck, holding Ling Yun’s hand firmly and pressing the candied hawthorn lightly against her lips. As their bodies leaned into each other and their breaths intertwined, separated only by the other half of the fruit, Yu Yixian’s pink lips parted slightly, whispering a secret fragrance:

“Senior, you should eat too.”
