In the room, Yang Yi’s Senior Sister’s complexion gradually grew rosy.

The deep furrow in her brow slowly smoothed out from the pleasant sensation.

Yang Yi pressed his fingers gently on his Senior Sister’s upper abdomen and said, “Senior Sister, your illness has improved a lot.”

His Senior Sister was devastatingly beautiful, with flawless features on a delicate, melon-seed-shaped face.

Her full, rosy lips were pursed into a gentle smile.

“Junior Brother, you’re the one with the real talent.

You inherited Master’s medical skills.

I’m hopeless—I get sleepy the moment I try to study medicine.”

Yang Yi replied, “But you’re an incredible fighter, Senior Sister.

I’m not nearly as strong as you.”

His Senior Sister doted on her Junior Brother, Yang Yi.

Besides their Master, he was the closest person to her in the world.

“Junior Brother, Lin Gengfang’s daughter is waiting for you to save her life.

You should go.

I’ll be fine here.”

Yang Yi fell silent.

When he was still young, tragedy struck his family—his parents and older sister were burned alive.

It was his mother’s friend, Lin Gengfang—the woman he called Aunt Lin—who had saved his life.

If Lin Gengfang hadn’t taken him to a shopping mall that day, he would have perished in that fire as well.

Lin Gengfang had taken Yang Yi into hiding for five full days, finally stashing him in the utility room of a rural family’s home.

She had then deliberately revealed herself to their enemies, leading them all away.

Yang Yi stayed in that utility room for several hours until the homeowner returned and found him.

He was taken away by that person, who would become his master, teaching him all sorts of powerful skills.

Just half a month ago, Yang Yi’s master had told him that Lin Gengfang had only given up searching for him five years ago.

So he had to go back—first, to repay his debt of gratitude, and second, to get his revenge.

“Senior Sister, take care of yourself.

I’ll come back to visit regularly.”

“Okay, Junior Brother.

If anyone bullies you out there, you tell me.

I’ll personally come and take care of them for you.”

…

Nanzhou, Su Family Villa.

“Are you… are you really Xiaoyi?”

Inside the villa, a beautiful, graceful, and noble-looking woman stared at Yang Yi excitedly, her face full of delighted surprise.

After losing Yang Yi all those years ago, she had searched all over Nanzhou for him—a search that lasted for thirteen years.

“It’s me, Aunt Lin.

I’m sorry to have worried you all these years.”

Yang Yi looked at the beautiful woman before him.

This was his mother’s best friend, Lin Gengfang.

“Don’t be sorry, don’t be sorry at all.

Let Aunt Lin get a good look at you…”

Lin Gengfang’s eyes were red, and tears streamed down her face.

She choked out, “As long as you’re alive, that’s all that matters.

Aunt Lin searched for you for over a decade.”

“If your Uncle Su hadn’t reminded me five years ago that finding you might lead your enemies to you, I would never have given up.”

The one who had reminded her was her husband, Su Changli.

As she spoke, Lin Gengfang’s expression changed, and she said seriously, “Xiaoyi, from now on, you’ll live here with Aunt Lin!

I’ll take care of everything for you!”

“You must not reveal your true identity, understand?

From now on, you are Aunt Lin’s son-in-law!”

The enemy who set the fire back then was now a star entrepreneur in the province.

If he found out that his friend’s son had returned, he would surely eliminate him to prevent any future trouble.

Yang Yi was stunned.

“Aunt Lin, you don’t have to do this…”

But Lin Gengfang’s eyes were filled with heartfelt sympathy.

“This was an agreement between me and your mother.

If I had a daughter, we would have you two marry and become one family.”

Yang Yi wanted to refuse again, but Lin Gengfang saw right through him.

“No refusing!

Otherwise, Aunt Lin will get angry!”

Yang Yi could only give in.

He then took a black bag from his bundle and said, “Aunt Lin, this is Life Grass, an incredibly valuable medicinal herb.”

He had personally seen a man, some self-proclaimed billionaire, offer his master three hundred million to buy Life Grass.

But his master just told him to ‘piss off,’ and the billionaire scurried away without another word.

Lin Gengfang stared blankly for a moment, looking at the two things that resembled roadside weeds, before smiling gently.

“Alright, alright.

Aunt Lin accepts them.”

Just then, the sound of a key in the lock was heard.

The main door opened, and a stern, imposing middle-aged man, a refined-looking young man, and a girl in a wheelchair entered the villa’s main hall.

The girl in the wheelchair had delicate features and a pretty face.

Her round cheeks gave her a sweet look.

Her long hair was down, and she wore a sky-blue dress, which gave her an air of tranquility.

“Mom, who is he?”

The girl in the wheelchair was Su Nanzhi, Lin Gengfang’s daughter.

Lin Gengfang quickly made the introduction.

“This is Yang Yi, the son of Aunt Fang I’ve always told you about.”

Su Nanzhi’s delicate brows furrowed as she stared at Yang Yi.

But Su Changli, who was pushing the wheelchair, had a dark look flash across his face.

His gaze toward Yang Yi was cold and scrutinizing.

‘I can’t believe this brat is still alive,’ he thought coldly.

‘And he has the gall to come mooch off my wife!’

‘He probably came back to Nanzhou, found out my wife married me, and decided to shamelessly show up and claim kinship.’

Yang Yi’s attention was also drawn to Su Nanzhi, but not because of her breathtaking beauty.

It was her overall complexion!

He could tell with a single glance that Aunt Lin’s daughter had been afflicted with a potent poison, which had left her legs so weak she was confined to a wheelchair.

‘Just as the intel my Senior Sister received said!’ he thought.

Su Nanzhi’s brow furrowed slightly.

Her mother was always telling her that if Aunt Fang’s son was still alive, she would have to marry him.

‘I can’t believe he’s actually alive,’ she thought.

‘And he has the nerve to show up at our door.’

“Hello, Mr.

Yang Yi,” Su Nanzhi greeted him, her tone chilly.

Yang Yi withdrew his gaze and replied, “Hello, Miss Su, Uncle Su.”

Su Changli gave a faint “hmph,” his attitude exceedingly cold.

Lin Gengfang sensed the awkward atmosphere and was about to smooth things over when Su Changli said, “Honey, I’ve brought Juntao here to treat Nanzhi.”

Lin Gengfang looked at the young man beside him and said joyfully, “Juntao, when did you get back from overseas?”

Hong Juntao, wearing a pair of rimless glasses, smiled elegantly.

“I just got back yesterday.”

He came from a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.

Although he had immigrated overseas years ago, he was still one of the Great Xia People at heart, so he planned to return to the country to develop his career.

Seeing how friendly Lin Gengfang was toward Yang Yi, a hint of hostility flickered in his eyes.

At that moment, Yang Yi spoke up.

“Uncle Su, actually, I can cure Miss Su’s illness.”

Both Su Changli and his daughter were taken aback.

Then, Su Changli’s expression shifted slightly.

He asked, “You study medicine, too?

Which university did you graduate from?”

Yang Yi paused before saying, “I learned from my master.

I didn’t go to university…”

Su Changli’s face instantly darkened.

He was so angry he nearly marched over and slapped Yang Yi twice.

Su Nanzhi’s face remained calm, but her eyes filled with disdain and disgust.

‘He didn’t even go to university?’ she thought.

The thing she despised most in life was a man with no ability who loved to pretend he had it.

Lin Gengfang quickly interjected, “Honey, Nanzhi, maybe Yang Yi really does know medicine.

Look, he even brought me medicinal herbs.

This is Life Grass…”

Su Changli cut her off impatiently.

“I could get you a whole truckload of weeds like this.

Honey, I know you and Fang Ning were good sisters, but what does her son have to do with you?”

“This kid is obviously a good-for-nothing who’s all flash and no substance.

What kind of herbs could he possibly get?

Does he even know what a medicinal herb is?”

It had taken him great effort five years ago to get Lin Gengfang to give up her search for Yang Yi.

‘To think that five years later, this shameless orphan would come knocking on our door!’ he thought.

He strode forward, picked up one of the stalks of Life Grass, and sneered, “Isn’t this just something you picked from a lawn in the park?”

“How dare you try to pass off this garbage as something valuable!”

With that, he tossed the two stalks of Life Grass—something even a billionaire couldn’t buy—directly into the trash can.
