He turned his face away, pressing his pale lips together. Liu Duanhe felt irritated inside, but on the surface he managed a smile. “It’s nothing. I just remembered something I forgot to do earlier.”

Feng Xingyun was about to ask what it was, but Liu Duanhe’s attitude clearly showed he didn’t want to discuss it further. He appeared as gentle and refined as before, but that sense of distance had crept back in. In Feng Xingyun’s perception, his mood was noticeably colder than it had been before they left the gymnasium, the smile didn’t reach his eyes.

Despite his appearance, Feng Xingyun had always been emotionally perceptive since childhood. He rarely misread people, which was why he could always catch Liu Duanhe’s true emotions.Full novel: My Hated Roommate Is Actually My Boyfriend?! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Not knowing why Liu Duanhe’s mood had suddenly soured, Feng Xingyun stared at his eyes for a moment. No matter what, they were at least friends now. A bus turned the corner at the end of the plane tree avenue, and he looked away, only saying, “The bus is here.”

The bus pulled up in front of them, and they boarded together, remaining silent from then on.

Before getting off, Liu Duanhe glanced back. Feng Xingyun was still in the same position, leaning sideways against the window, lips pressed together, his sharp profile looking both cold and forlorn, clearly in low spirits.

A man who was usually emotionally restrained and cool-headed projecting such a somber aura was enough to draw attention.

Looking at him, Liu Duanhe suddenly felt an inexplicable pang of guilt. Although he didn’t want to open up about his own affairs, Feng Xingyun seemed hurt by his lack of trust and subtle resistance.

After hesitating for a moment, Liu Duanhe still took out his phone after getting off the bus, wanting to send him a message.

The sky had darkened halfway, and the wind was growing stronger. It was then Liu Duanhe realized he’d forgotten to return Feng Xingyun’s jacket.

He revised his wording once more.

[Thanks for the jacket. I’ll wash it and give it back to you tomorrow. It was just something personal on my end, nothing I could share with you. Don’t overthink it.]

Through the bus window, Liu Duanhe saw Feng Xingyun pick up his phone and type something.

A message popped up.

[Okay]

While watching the game, Liu Duanhe had already messaged his driver in advance.

He walked over, and his secretary opened the car door for him, bringing along documents that required his personal signature.

The extended-length vehicle had a spacious interior. After getting in, Liu Duanhe stretched his legs out comfortably and took the documents with an air of authority.

The car’s air conditioning was set to a comfortable temperature. After reading for a while, Liu Duanhe felt warm and took off Feng Xingyun’s jacket, setting it aside.

Because of Liu Duanhe’s movement, Secretary Wei’s gaze unconsciously followed, giving the jacket an extra look. He immediately sensed something off.

As an all-purpose secretary solely focused on making money, having an exceptional memory and being detail-oriented were just a few of the most basic qualifications. He also doubled as the life assistant for the eldest young master of the Liu family, all of Liu Duanhe’s clothes year-round were custom-tailored by a high-end atelier that only took regular clients.

And this jacket, he had never seen it before. The size was clearly one size looser, highly likely not belonging to Young Master Liu.

Moreover, it was well known that Liu Duanhe had a thing about cleanliness. Whoever this person was, they definitely had an unusual relationship with him, and the odds were high it was a man.

Secretary Wei’s mind was in turmoil, but he suppressed all his speculations deep down and controlled his expression.

His boss’s affairs were not something a hired hand like him should concern himself with.

Having worked closely with Liu Duanhe for several years, even if Secretary Wei were slow, he could still sense how beautiful Liu Duanhe’s smiles could be, and how ruthlessly he schemed behind them.

Not to mention Liu Duanhe’s demeanor at work was rigorous enough to make anyone’s stress levels skyrocket and break out in a cold sweat. He had zero desire to pry and no craving for attention, at most, he’d indulge in a quiet moment of curiosity.
