While I was thinking about things, I somehow fell asleep. When I woke up, the bright room had turned dark, and I could see the night view outside the window, with the Ferris wheel and the big bridge lit up.

I turned off the fan that was running non-stop and peeled off the damp towel that was sticking to my body. When I opened the door to my room, I could hear the voices of women coming from the living room.

I couldn’t keep being a bother forever. They seemed to be chatting while holding what looked like a booklet, so I decided to boldly interrupt and spoke to the two of them.

”How are you feeling? Has the dizziness gone away?”

As I handed over the damp towel I had, Yuki-san asked me that.

”Thanks to you, I feel better.”

”That’s good to hear. But just to be safe, please let Risa-sensei check you out.”

Her words were gentle, but they still had a sense of authority. I was directed to a spot on the sofa, and I followed her instructions. On the low table next to the sofa, there was a huge pile of booklets. Medical journals, maybe?

”!?”

(…No way)

I had believed that doctors were holy beings. Until I saw those neatly stacked, skin-colored covers… Normally, wouldn’t a stranger hide those?

At least if the cover art had one girl and one guy instead of 2 guys! …But that would just be a regular adult magazine.

(My doctor who helped me was into weird stuff)

Everyone has their own hobbies and preferences. I understand that I have no right to judge what others say. However, I had created an image in my mind that medical professionals wouldn’t have those kinds of interests.

In the end, I was thinking the same way as those who assumed I would never go to a huge event in the bay area in midsummer, making me feel isolated.

Risa-sensei, without hiding those skin-colored covers, was checking my condition after my recovery. At least as a man, it seemed like I wasn’t being seen that way at all.

That made it easier for me, as I didn’t have to be overly self-conscious.
