If astonishment was a face, that would be Joshua’s as he watched the supposed spar between Ken and Elizabeth.
Could this even be considered sparring, he pondered?
That lightning lady looks like she’s really trying to kill Ken.
Thinking of Ken, Joshua didn’t know what to think.
To be honest, he was a little scared of him, more accurately of his mental state.
That lightning lady was so serious, but Ken, who was the one dodging and evading, was not serious at all.
“So, do u have any questions?” Ken asked, looking ready to explain everything eagerly.
“Aa, yes.” Joshua nodded.
“Two questions.”
“1st, are you guys still human?!” Joshua asked, looking really serious.
Ken blinked.
“Huh!?”
“Don’t ‘huh’ me!
I’m really serious.
How can humans have such power?
That lightning lady is sending lightning bolts left and right.
She’s even getting struck by them herself, but nothing’s happening to her.
How is that humanly possible?
And you!
You changed your body into metal.
How are you still alive?
How can your organs function?
And the crazy thing is you’re not even trying, is what it looks like.
How is that any way humanly possible?”
Letting out his frustrated thoughts, Joshua crossed his arms, looking at Ken.
“Well,” Ken nodded, “it is understandable, your skepticism.
I mean, we’re still human, just a little unique human.”
“I feel like ‘a little unique’ is pulling a lot of heavy weight here.”
Ken spread his hands.
“What can I say?
It’s just normal here.
Look around, Joshua.
This isn’t Earth anymore.
It is a fantasy world, a world where dungeons and dragons actually exist.
U need to look at things differently now.
Did u understand?”
“Hmmm.”
Joshua nodded.
“Ok, hand it to me!”
“Fantasy glasses, so I can look at things differently.”
Ken blinked, then he laughed.
“Hahaha, good one.
I thought you didn’t know how to loosen up, but it seems like I was wrong.”
Joshua sighed.
“And the second question.”
“What the hell is going on!?”
“U guys are doing just whatever you want.
Like, don’t you have to cast incantations?
I remember the one that cast the language spell on me had to do it for 5 minutes.
Also, he was making weird symbols with his hands.”
Pointing at the hologram projection of Ken’s spar, he continued,
“Here she’s just pointing and lightning bolts descend, and u aren’t even pointing, just transforming things into other things like it’s no big deal.
Like, I know you said if u have enough control over your mana this is possible, but still!”
Ken nodded.
“I understand.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I get it.”
“I didn’t get it.”
“Ok, ok, stop.”
Ken put both his hands up.
“What’s gotten into you?”
“I don’t know.
It’s just…”
Pointing at the sky where the projection showed Ken using a slingshot to fly towards the airborne Elizabeth, he continued,
“I feel like, to stay sane, I have to go insane.”
“Hahahaha.”
Ken burst out laughing, clutching his stomach.
“To stay sane you have to…
ha ha…
go insane…
hahaha.”
“Hoh, ok.”
“I understand you’re getting overwhelmed, so should I stop that?” Ken asked.
Joshua, looking at the hologram, saw Ken getting hit by an electrical beam powered by hundreds of thousands of lightning bolts and smashing into the ground.
“No.”
He shook his head.
“I still wanna see this.
I’ll just treat it as if I’m watching a movie, a movie with really good realistic CGI.” Find the original chapter at g.com.
They both focused on the hologram, which showed Elizabeth frowning even after hitting Ken with such a powerful attack.
Suddenly a big explosion happened where Ken was smashed into the ground.
Elizabeth’s frown deepened as she flew closer.
As the dust was blown away by the strong winds, it revealed Ken with his ever-present annoying grin, unharmed and standing with his hands in his pockets.
Elizabeth, looking shocked, muttered,
“How…
that should have at least…”
“How?
A good question.
It’s pretty simple actually.
It’s this.”
As he said that, he picked up a stone.
His gray Flux mana spread around it, and it transformed into a round shield made out of rainbow crystal.
Elizabeth squinted to take a better look, but then she suddenly flew back, her expression changing drastically.
“Is that…”
She pointed, a slight tremor in her voice.
“Null Crystal?”
“Yep.”
Ken nodded.
“What’s Null Crystal?” Joshua asked, a little surprised by Elizabeth’s reaction.
“It’s something most mages fear.
It’s the crystal shell of a creature on the 93rd floor of the World Dungeon.”
“What does it do?” Joshua asked.
Ken smiled.
“It nullifies mana by absorbing it.
Very lethal weapon against mages.”
Joshua blinked.
“Hey, but didn’t you just conjure it from mana yourself?”
“Well, that’s not the real thing.
It’s an imitation with some flaws I created.
The real thing is impossible to create.”
“Some flaws?”
“Yes.
Mainly, it doesn’t absorb as well as the authentic thing, and when it reaches its limit…”
At this point the battle had resumed.
It seemed like even Elizabeth had realized it wasn’t the authentic thing as she fired another lightning beam powered by countless lightning bolts.
Ken held the crystal shield up as it absorbed the beam.
It glowed and glowed and glowed.
As soon as the beam stopped, Ken threw the shield, and with a brilliant rainbow flash, it exploded.
“It explodes,” Ken finished.
