“Elizabeth gritted her teeth.

She brought her staff in front of her, grabbing it with both hands.

A large amount of her lightning mana entered the staff.Full novel: My Master was A Protagonist — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It glowed, pulsing like a flashing light.

“What is she doing?” Joshua scratched his face with a finger, looking confused.

“There aren’t many things she can do, so she’s doing the best she can,” Ken answered with his arms crossed.

“And that is?” Joshua asked expectantly.

“Just keep watching.”

“Ok.”

Elizabeth let go of her staff, and it kept floating in the air, the Storm Slime Core still pulsing brightly.

As if in sync, the thunderstorm too started flashing in rhythm with the Slime Core.

Elizabeth herself turned into a silver-blue lightning bolt, descending 100 meters from Ken.

As the smoke cleared, she started walking towards him.

She touched her Headmistress badge twice.

Her Headmistress uniform started changing, morphing, turning silver and covering her in a suit of adamantine armour.

A sword appeared in her hand, looking like it was made out of crystal glass, lightning patterns etched into it.

“Is she about to fight you with a sword?”

Joshua asked, astonished.

“What does it look like?” Ken raised an eyebrow in amusement. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

“But…

isn’t she a mage?

Shouldn’t she be weak in physical fights?” Joshua looked between Ken and Elizabeth again and again, trying to make sense of what was happening.

“That would be the case for normal mages, but you’re forgetting she’s a unique mana holder, and for unique mana holders, when long-distance spells don’t work, going up close and personal to deal with the matter is the norm.” Ken answered matter-of-factly.

Joshua still looked confused.

“So?” Ken further explained, “You see, you’re right.

Normal mages do have weak constitutions, but most unique mana holders, after reaching master-level mana control, can elementalize their body into their mana and back to their body, just as you saw with Elizabeth right now.

She can transform into a lightning bolt and back to her body with no problem.

You following?”

“Yeah.” Joshua nodded, looking a bit dazed.

Ken seemingly not minding continued,

“So when they turn back they’re able to make adjustments to their body up to a certain extent, and thus even that small body can be pretty tough.”

“But,” Joshua asked, “does she really have to do this?

I mean, isn’t fighting from a distance more advantageous for her?”

“No.” Ken shook his head.

She probably has already used half of her mana already, and it didn’t do much of anything, so this is her best option.

This is also something you should keep in mind.

You and me, we have an advantage in this kind of fight.

If we just keep defending, we can tire our opponents just by surviving.”

Hologram Elizabeth, mid-stride, turned into a silver-blue lightning bolt, going straight towards hologram Ken, who was looking at all of it with interest.

Then his gray Flux mana spread around, and a broken branch flew towards him, midway transforming into a sword.

Wielding that, Ken was ready.

Just then the floating staff vibrated as many lightning bolts fell at Ken.

Attacked from two sides, Ken didn’t look panicked as some other debris turned into flawed null crystals, intercepting the lightning bolts from above.

Ken personally faced the silver-blue one before him.

Boom!

Both their blades collided.

Ken finally spoke.

“This is so nostalgic.

It has been some time since I had a sword fight with someone.”

Elizabeth didn’t answer as silver-blue lightning bolts tried to use his sword as a conductor to zap him, but right then the sword’s hilt changed as it transformed into flawed null crystals, absorbing all her lightning.”
