Chapter 14

My Messy Life with Stepmom and Stepsister

With that, they went to the nearest cinema and bought tickets for a horror movie. They also got popcorn and drinks before heading inside the theatre.

As the movie started, the theatre became dark, only the light from the screen illuminating their faces. The movie was good, and both of them were engrossed in the story.

However, there was a scene where the ghost suddenly appeared on the screen, making Diana scream and cling to Sam's arm.

Sam also wasn't prepared for the sudden scare and flinched, his heart almost leaping out of his chest. But he felt a bit better with Diana holding onto him.

"It's okay, I'm here. Don't be scared," Sam whispered, putting his hand over Diana's, trying to reassure her.

But Diana wasn't satisfied with just holding hands. She leaned her head on Sam's shoulder and pulled his arm around her, hugging herself closer to him. Her other hand found his free hand and intertwined their fingers.

For a moment, Sam didn't know how to react to Diana's sudden intimacy. They had just met today and were already acting like a couple. Wasn't it too soon? Then again, this was the point of them meeting each other, so he guessed it was normal.

Taking a deep breath, Sam tightened his hold on Diana's waist and continued to watch the movie. But he couldn't focus on the screen anymore, feeling Diana's warmth against his side, smelling her sweet perfume, and sensing her soft breasts pressed against his chest. He was very much aware of her presence now.

And by the time the movie ended, Sam realized he hadn't watched a single minute of it since the scare. His attention had been on Diana the whole time, enjoying the feeling of having her close to him.

When the lights turned back on, Diana didn't let go of him immediately, snuggling against his chest instead.

"Hmm... I'm not ready to leave yet..." Diana murmured, looking up at Sam with half-lidded eyes. "Can we stay like this a bit longer?"

Sam's heart beat faster at her seductive expression. It was so sexy and inviting that he almost leaned down to kiss her. But he managed to control himself and nodded.

"Okay. We can stay until the next show starts."

Diana smiled and nuzzled her nose against his neck. "Thank you, Sam... I feel safe in your arms."

"Yeah, I'm glad I could help you feel safe."

They stayed like that for a few more minutes, basking in each other's warmth. It felt so good that Sam wished time would stop and they could just stay like this forever. It had been so long since he last felt this way with a woman, not counting his fantasies about Alia and the morning with Chloe. This was the real thing, and he liked it.

After a while, Diana finally lifted her head from Sam's shoulder and looked at him with a playful glint in her eyes. "Do you want to go somewhere else? My place or yours?"

"What? I mean, why? Aren't we moving too fast?" Sam gulped, his mind suddenly filled with thoughts of being alone with Diana in a room, with no one to interrupt them. And he wasn't sure if he could resist the temptation if they ended up alone.

But before he could say anything, Diana giggled and pinched his cheek. "Relax. I'm just joking. I know we shouldn't rush things. We can take it slow, okay?"

Sam let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, relieved but also slightly disappointed. "Y-Yeah... Okay. I guess it's best that way."

"Mhm. So, do you have time to have dinner with me? There's this nice restaurant I've been wanting to try. I'll treat you."

"No, I should treat you. It's my pleasure to have dinner with a beautiful woman like you."

"Hehe... You won't get in my pants if you flatter me, but I appreciate it." Diana winked at Sam before getting up from her seat. "Let's go. I'm hungry."

Sam chuckled and followed her out of the cinema, feeling like the luckiest guy at that moment. Not only did he meet an amazing woman, but she also wanted to spend more time with him. It was unbelievable yet wonderful.

With a wide grin on his face, Sam took Diana's hand and walked towards the exit.

Just as they were about to step out of the building, Sam's phone rang. Taking it out of his pocket, he saw the caller was none other than his stepsister.

"Hello, Chloe. What's up?" Sam greeted, as he put the phone to his ear, not noticing the change in Diana's expression.

"Oh, you're not busy? I just called to ask how it went with Diana. Did she show up?" Chloe's cheerful voice came from the other end of the line.

Sam glanced at Diana, who was now looking at him with a neutral face, her eyes slightly narrowed. For some reason, he felt like she was listening to their conversation and didn't like it. But he wasn't sure why.

"Uh, yeah, I'm with her now. We're just going to have dinner. Do you want to talk to her?"

"Nah, I don't want to disturb you guys. Enjoy your date, okay? I'll tell Mom not to wait for you for dinner tonight. Have fun!"

"Alright. Thanks, Chloe."

"Bye."

Sam hung up the phone and looked at Diana. "Are you okay? You don't seem pleased about my call."

"Oh, I'm fine. It's just that..." Diana trailed off, her eyes looking away for a second, and then she met his gaze again. "I heard Chloe calling you. And... well, I know you guys are siblings, but you sound really close, you know?"

Sam didn't expect that, and he scratched his head, thinking about how to explain it. After all, he and Chloe did things that normal siblings shouldn't, and if Diana found out, she might change her opinion of him.

But before he could say anything, Diana spoke again.

"Actually, forget I said anything. It's not my business to comment on your relationship with your sister. Let's go; I'm starving."

"Okay."
