Richard felt attacked by what Athissa had stated.

His body appeared in front of Athissa in a second, and a hand reached her cheek with a loud sound.

“Your opinion is invalid, Athissa.

I tried my best to be patient with you since you’re the beta’s daughter, but attacking my son’s choice is a sin to the pack!” Richard’s booming voice filled the room.

The pain on Athissa’s cheeks still stung, but even if it hurt her physically, it didn’t equal the fact that her own father looked away when it happened.

Athissa’s eyes locked onto Donovan, who was looking away with eyes closed and completely ignoring that her daughter got hurt.

That tormented Athissa more, as if her heart was shattered to pieces.

She couldn’t even hear what Richard was talking about.

After a couple of seconds, Athissa finally came to her senses.

‘I see.

I have no place in this pack.

I know it, but it still stings like shit,’ she thought, smiling a little.

As if she finally accepted that fact.

“Okay, I will go to the Ravenfort pack tomorrow.

Prepare my carriage and other materials I need.

If I see less, I will not go.

Also, I need a lot of funding in gold, and I won’t accept little from either of you.

Hear my request, or I’ll bring trouble to both of your precious son and daughter,” Athissa said sternly.

She puffed her chest out and showing she wasn’t afraid of both old men before her.

Athissa knew they needed her, so they would comply with whatever request she made.

“Consider that done,” Richard replied.

He crossed his arms and releasing an alpha scent to make any wolf bow, but it didn’t affect Athissa at all.

“Your carriage will be ready tomorrow morning.

Don’t be late.”

Without a word, Athissa nodded, turned to the side, and left the room with a composed figure.

When she closed the door, she took a few steps before noticing a presence.

“Do you need something?” Athissa asked, stopping in her tracks, but barely looked to see who it was.

“How are you, sister?” A high-pitched, childlike voice spoke from behind her.

Athissa knew who it was before turning around to face the person.

“What?” She asked impatiently, clearly annoyed.

Althea smiled sweetly, twirling a strand of her soft, blonde hair around her fingers.

“I heard you’re leaving tomorrow for that awful pack,” Althea said with disgust laced in her tone.

Athissa immediately grasped that Althea was up to no good.

Her sister always did that every time she was around.

However, she also knew that Althea had been eavesdropping on them earlier.

“Should you be thanking me instead?” Athissa walked closer to Althea.

No fear was shown on her face, only irritation.

Althea’s smile dropped as she rolled her eyes.

“I will be the future Alpha Queen of all wolf packs.

Why do I need to thank you?

You should thank me instead since they gave you an important mission because of me rejecting the offer,” Althea said, referring to Athissa being sent away far from home.

Athissa scoffed.

She wanted to argue, but it felt childish for her as a 28-year-old to argue with a 15-year-old child.

“Advanced Happy Birthday to you, sister.

I hope you will be the happiest in your possible marriage,” Athissa greeted with a flat tone.

She turned around and was about to leave, but Althea decided she wasn’t done taunting.

“I know you like David, and I know he used to be your fiancé years ago.

Too bad he was made for me,” Althea brimmed with pride as if she was sure to become David’s mate.

“Good luck,” Athissa muttered and continued walking, leaving Althea dreaming of her future marriage.

‘That girl doesn’t even know why I reject David, even if he wasn’t my mate.

I thank the Moon Goddess he isn’t for me at all,’ Althea thought inside her head.

It was known in their younger days that Athissa and David were once close friends who grew closer.

They thought that once they reached the age of 16, they would be destined together, but only David unlocked the hidden sense to find a mate, while Athissa was stuck, unable to activate it.

It was a rare occurrence for a person not to unlock their hidden sense, which was their wolf.

They would shift into their animal form and recognize who would be their mate by scent.

Others would find their mate later in life, but some didn’t.

In that sense, some would marry their fellow unmated wolves just to produce a pup to continue their bloodline.

Their love was true, but the feeling was still different compared to true mates.

As for Athissa, she had been close to David since they were young.

She knew and saw his true self, his nature, his violence and bloodlust.

Athissa tried to understand, but in the end, she left, thinking she wanted a career rather than stay in a chaotic relationship.

Athissa still hoped that her wolf would someday be awakened and find her mate, but she had reached the age of 28 with no love prospects, only headaches.

That was when Athissa decided to focus her attention on her growing career.

She was even delighted when her parents popped more pups for them to be proud of.

“Ah, this is for the best,” Athissa whispered upon reaching the front door and was about to leave that wrenched place when a familiar figure appeared before her.

“Oh please,” she muttered, sighing deeply.

“Are you going that easily?” A deep, hard voice spoke.

His eyes were a shade of dark blue, piercing through Athissa.

“Can I leave in peace for once?” Athissa rolled her eyes and stepped back.

She slightly bowed her head since there were a few guards around looking at them.

“The Ravenfort pack is dangerous.

I have met their Alpha, and he’s not a good person.

Too tall, too big, too rough for you to handle,” David stated firmly, believing it would sway Athissa from traveling there.
