Following Jiang Rou’s interruption, Li Luo didn’t continue saying anything more to Qin Han, which restored a quiet atmosphere to the office.
Jiang Rou was still diligently working on her draft when Qin Han suddenly placed a document right in front of her. Amidst Jiang Rou’s puzzled gaze, Qin Han stated her demand: “Jiang Rou, please help me print fifty copies of this document, and then go hand them out to the product department.”
At this moment, Li Luo couldn’t hold back anymore: “Qin Han, why are you making Jiang Rou help you with your own work? Do you not have hands of your own?”
Qin Han’s face flushed red once again from Li Luo’s words, but she stubbornly retorted: “I still have tasks here that I need to hand over to President Shen tonight. Besides, what is wrong with Jiang Rou running an errand since she has nothing going on? Aren’t all newcomers supposed to go through this?”
Qin Han wore a self-righteous expression as she looked at Jiang Rou, acting as if failure to complete her draft tonight would entirely be Jiang Rou’s fault for refusing to work.
However, Qin Han was an omega who had always been very popular within the department, and there were quite a few alphas pursuing her. Yet, none of this carried much weight in front of Jiang Rou.
After all, Jiang Rou was stunningly attractive and seemed pleasant enough. If they had to trouble Jiang Rou with such menial tasks, it truly made these people feel a bit reluctant.
Someone couldn’t help speaking up to defend Jiang Rou: “Qin Han, even if you have work, you shouldn’t push your own tasks onto Jiang Rou.”
In truth, printing was merely a minor task, but everyone knew that if Jiang Rou did it today, such miscellaneous chores would only become more frequent in the future.
Jiang Rou looked at Qin Han in front of her and smiled: “Alright, then you can accompany me.”
Everyone, including Qin Han, hadn’t expected Jiang Rou to agree so readily. After all, Qin Han’s original intention hadn’t been to torment Jiang Rou; rather, she had wanted to use Jiang Rou’s refusal as an excuse to make her look uncooperative and lazy in front of Shen Wanli. Seeing Jiang Rou agree instantly made her complexion turn rather unpleasant.
“Sister Qin Han, hand them to me?”
Jiang Rou’s voice was filled with confusion as she looked at Qin Han, not understanding why she was zoning out.
Since Qin Han had already spoken the words aloud, she had no choice but to hand the documents over to Jiang Rou.
Jiang Rou didn’t say anything else; she simply smiled and took the documents away.
The moment the people in the product department saw Jiang Rou, they were completely overwhelmed by her beauty. Although they had caught a glimpse of Jiang Rou earlier that morning, most of them had only seen her from a distance rather than up close like this.
“Why is it you who came? Where is Qin Han?”
The product department manager was quite surprised, as these kinds of tasks were usually Qin Han’s direct responsibility, and she didn’t see Qin Han anywhere.
Jiang Rou’s tone was pleasant, without the slightest hint of unhappiness at being handed an errand: “Sister Qin Han said she needs to submit her draft to President Shen tonight, so she asked me to come instead.”
The product manager rolled her eyes. Qin Han’s affection for President Shen was notoriously well-known in the company, and everyone here was sharp enough to figure out what was going on instantly.
“Since you brought them down, you might as well help us process this related paperwork while you are here,” the product manager said.
Jiang Rou nodded, though she hadn’t expected this task to take up the entire afternoon. She suddenly understood why Qin Han had pushed this chore onto her. If Qin Han hadn’t passed this off to someone else, she probably wouldn’t have found an opportunity to see President Shen today.
Having finished up in the product department, Jiang Rou found that it was already time to get off work. She walked over to the office to wait for Shen Wanli so they could leave together, intending to bring her unfinished draft along as well.
Just as she reached the office doorway, she heard a sweet, saccharine voice: “President Shen, could you show me how this part should be revised? I still do not quite understand.”
Jiang Rou possessed an extraordinary memory, especially since she had just heard this voice earlier today.
The voice paused for a moment before Shen Wanli’s soft, gentle voice of explanation followed.
Jiang Rou raised an eyebrow, instantly feeling a bit jealous.
Although Shen Wanli spoke in a strictly professional tone, to Jiang Rou’s ears, it sounded like her older sister speaking with utmost patience to someone else.
Shortly after, Jiang Rou raised a hand and pushed the door open.
The voices inside the office stopped abruptly. Both of them turned to look at her, and Qin Han frowned as she looked at Jiang Rou: “Why are you here?”
Jiang Rou put on a look of being momentarily stunned by Qin Han’s question, feigning innocence: “Ah? I am waiting for President Shen to finish work.”
Qin Han spoke in a righteous tone: “President Shen and I are still discussing this product design matter. Would you mind waiting outside?”
She acted as if Jiang Rou was just another person using an excuse to seek out President Shen with questions, which Jiang Rou found utterly ridiculous.
“It is fine, I will just wait here,” Jiang Rou said indifferently.
She walked straight over to Shen Wanli’s sofa, sat down, and took out her design drafts to continue working with a relaxed and leisurely demeanor.
This sight made Qin Han extremely furious. Glancing at Shen Wanli, she called out: “President Shen, please look at her.”
To her surprise, Shen Wanli simply maintained an ordinary expression and nodded: “It might still take a little while. If you are hungry, eat something first.”
The natural dynamic between the two instantly left Qin Han dumbfounded. She had previously assumed Jiang Rou was merely one of Shen Wanli’s suitors, and a workplace newcomer at that, holding no real advantage compared to herself. She never imagined the two of them would interact like this.
However, Qin Han still didn’t view Jiang Rou as Shen Wanli’s girlfriend. Hearing earlier that Jiang Rou was supposedly one of Shen Wanli’s suitors, and thinking about it now, she directly pigeonholed Jiang Rou as a kept mistress maintained by Shen Wanli.
A look of disdain filled Qin Han’s eyes. She was just an omega who relied entirely on her looks; she could never amount to anything respectable.
Qin Han continued asking Shen Wanli questions, attempting to find an excuse to stall her for a bit longer and gain more time together. Yet Shen Wanli frowned as she looked at Qin Han, her tone carrying a hint of uncertainty: “These are all basic textbook concepts. Why don’t you look over them at home tonight, and if you still do not understand tomorrow, we can discuss it then?”
Having been a top achiever all her life, Shen Wanli simply couldn’t comprehend why Qin Han, who had already been working for several years, couldn’t grasp the most fundamental textbook knowledge.
Jiang Rou, who had been observing the two of them the entire time, barely managed to suppress a laugh upon hearing Shen Wanli’s words.
She thought to herself that, as expected, older sister was still as straightforward as ever.
Embarrassed by Shen Wanli’s words, Qin Han stammered through her response, hastily apologized to President Shen, and ran out of the office with a blushing face.
“If you cannot finish your drawing tonight, just do it tomorrow. Do not rush it all at once.”
Seeing Jiang Rou still drawing, Shen Wanli gently spoke up to remind her.
Jiang Rou sighed softly: “I was just hoping to finish today’s tasks.”
Shen Wanli looked at her with a trace of confusion: “Did you encounter any difficulties with your creation today?”
Jiang Rou shook her head: “Not really. It is just that I spent the whole afternoon helping Sister Qin Han in the product department, so I wanted to make up for the lost progress tonight.”
