Soon, the class was finally out of chaos, and Gareth started talking about their study plan for this week. And to his disappointment, there was no combat or actual spell training this week.
It was going to be an anguishing week of pure theory classes.
And students also started using their spatial rings to store the heavy book sets in them. Because Mira didn’t have one, Severin helped her by storing them in his.
After all, spatial rings aren’t exactly cheap. Though he said most people in Class 1-D were filled with commoners. Even among commoners, there is a class, and most of them belong to the upper class.
"Thank you," Mira said in gratitude, her impression of him increased by a bit more points.
After all that, Gareth asked them to take out the book of Ancient History of the Human Empire.
At the same time, Severin could see the condemnation of a few students. Looking at their pointy ears, it was clear they were elves.
Aethryndian Academy never looks at any student’s race before selecting them. Elves, Demi-humans, and Humans make up the majority of the academic body.
But this doesn’t mean that they get along. Elves naturally have attractive looks and higher mana than any other race. Not to mention their affinity with spirits has always been the strongest.
So it’s common for humans to hunt or enslave them. In fact, not only elves but even demi-humans are being enslaved, but they don’t openly show condemnation like elves, as they are usually arrogant by nature.
As for humans, it’s not that they don’t become targets after so much malice, but no one will care if, from an ocean, a few buckets of water get taken.
Leaving aside everything, humans themselves have boundaries that define them. This is clear from the fact that of the seven Apex Realms, three are human realms.
And this definitely doesn’t make the human race the strongest in this universe, since they are usually busy infighting.
Soon, Gareth’s class was over, but it wasn’t the end of their studies. As the clock hit 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the old professor teaching them mathematics slowly left.
Even in this fantasy world, he can’t escape this torment.
Also, there shouldn’t be any Isaac Newton here, right? So why is there still gravity?
"It was so much fun today."
Severin expressionlessly looked at the monster in human skin.
Sighing in exhaustion, he looked at his status with a bewildered face.
[You are adapting....]
[You have acquainted the common skill (Concentrated Thought)]
[Concentrated Thought: The ability to focus one’s mind on a single subject while suppressing distractions. Greater concentration improves learning, analysis, spell control, and precision.]
’Damn, I wasn’t even that focused to start adapting.’
Leaving aside the thought of how exactly his adaption worked, he focused on his other half of talent evolution.
[Concentrated Thought (0/10)]
[EP: 0]
He just needs ten evolution points to evolve this talent from common to extra skill.
In Eclipse of Eternity, skills are ultimately divided into five types.
Common Skills, as the name suggests, are ordinary skills that consume very little stamina, mental power, or mana, depending on how the skill operates. They are the foundation of most people’s abilities and are generally the easiest skills to acquire.
Above Common Skills are Extra Skills. Unlike Common Skills, these are not easy to obtain. According to the lore of Eclipse of Eternity, a person must break through their own limits to awaken an Extra Skill. Most Awakeners use their Common Skills as a foundation, refining and evolving them until they eventually transform into an Extra Skill.
Above Extra Skills are Unique Skills. These are far rarer and more powerful, often possessing abilities that cannot be replicated.
At the peak of conventional skills are Ultimate Skills. They represent an extraordinary level of mastery and power, standing far above the skills that come before them.
And finally, there are Bloodline Skills.
Unlike the other types, Bloodline Skills are not simply learned or awakened through training. They are abilities inherited through one’s bloodline, carrying powers that have been passed down through generations. Their true potential depends on the bloodline itself.
Severin quietly checked the evolution points required to update his other skills.
[Iron Will (0/10)]
[Blade Mastery (0/10)]
[Quick Draw (0/15)]
He noted that, leaving aside Quick Draw, all the others only required 10 EP to evolve.
’Is it because the other three are categorized as passive skills?’
Passive skills usually have much less requirement of energy and automatically work.
Whereas active skills take a noticeable amount of mana each time they are being used, though Quick Draw uses physical strength.
Then he looked at his techniques.
[D’Auremont Basic Sword Art (0/100)]
[Golden Saint Sword Art {1st Form} (0/1000)]
Looking at the amount of EP required, Severin quietly turned off the status.
’It’s better to update skills at this stage.’
After all, the amount of EP required to evolve Golden Saint Sword Art’s first form alone actually requires a thousand evolution points, and there are nine other forms more out there.
’Anyways, I haven’t even mastered them perfectly. It’s better to do that first than think of this.’ After all, he doesn’t know how much killing actually gives, and obviously, he can’t just kill anything.
He will go to a gate or dungeon this Saturday and find out.
’But evolving skills doesn’t necessarily require EP points.’ Skills are essentially a part of him.
Sure, using EP points will make things faster, but this isn’t the full use of my evolution trait.
"Ah... can you give my books back?" Mira said from the side.
Only then did Severin notice that most students were already gone.
’Is this Concentrated Thought skill at work?’
He nodded to her and quickly gave her the book set that was about half her size. And she wasn’t exactly short; she was about 4’8 feet at least, which can be called a good height among girls of her age group.
He himself was 4’9, but his growth hasn’t exactly hit yet. Wait a few years; he was sure he would reach at least 6 feet.
Amusingly looking at Mira as she struggled to take the books, he wondered what she would do if she stumbled on something and fell.
’No, let’s not try to make her cry on the first day.’
Getting rid of this slightly evil plan that he was fully ready to blame on his curse race’s negative effect, affecting his pure and holy heart.
He walked out of the classroom and decided to head to the gym.
But midway, he turned toward the cafeteria, as he hadn’t exactly eaten anything since morning.
After all, there isn’t a concept of a lunch break here. Nor is there a need, as their bodies are strong enough not to require breaks like that.
So he can only go after classes are over.
The cafeteria wasn’t far from the 1st year building, and one could see students from different years going in.
Slowly, with the crowd, Severin entered.
’What should I eat?’
He knew that Aethryndian Academy had some of the best foodsmiths, but those required Academy Points (AP). And he had no AP right now.
So he could only go and pick up normal dishes.
Quickly, he picked everything he liked from the options available:
Roast chicken, beef stew, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, roast lamb with vegetables, tomato soup with bread, French onion soup, Cornish pasty, apple crumble.
His plates were quickly stacked so much that students and staff started giving him weird looks.
’Now just the desserts remaining.’
Victoria sponge, apple pie, cherry pie, jam tarts, chocolate brownies.
He quickly sat in an empty seat and started eating.
Many of these foods were something he always wanted to eat but never got the chance.
And he had to say, though they weren’t made by foodsmiths, they were still the best food he had ever eaten.
And quickly, he ate half the food he brought without any pressure on his stomach.
"Look at here, what do we have here, Severin D’Auremont?" A mocking voice quickly disturbed him.
Looking at the person standing across from him, Severin calmly swallowed his food and said,
"Look at here, what do we have here? A Golden Retriever."
"D’Auremont! How dare you mock me, the heir of the Everhart family?" The yellow-haired, blue-eyed young master said angrily.
Severin looked at Lucian Everhart with an almost innocent face and said while picking a leg piece,
"When did I say anything to you?" Then he faked a shocked face and said with a mock pained expression,
"You don’t think I was calling you Golden Retriever?"
Lucian gritted his teeth and said with a snort, "I heard you were placed in D Class."
"Don’t worry, you’ll still be mopping your face on the floor."
Lucian’s face became a bit ugly, but then he smirked and said,
"Hehe, that time you only won because of Golden Saint Sword Art, but I have heard you haven’t even learned the 2nd form after half a year, and your stats haven’t grown much."
"This time, in the month-end practical exam, I will show you why I am in Class A." Then, with an arrogant turn, he walked away.
"Was he not here to eat?"
’Also, who the heck is he getting this info from?’
