At the command, two male Beastmen immediately stepped forward, one approaching her and the other Cang Yuan.

Su Cha quickly drew her bone knife, holding it in a reverse grip across her chest in a combat-ready stance.

She positioned herself squarely in front of Cang Yuan and warned sharply, “Take one more step, and don’t blame me for showing no mercy.”Full novel: My Villain Mate Won’t Play His Role — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Many Beastmen had been present at yesterday’s duel and were somewhat wary of Su Cha’s strength.

The two Bear Beastmen exchanged a glance and stopped in their tracks, turning their eyes to the elderly Beastman emerging from behind the crowd.

Su Cha cast a cold glance at Yu Yue’er, who stood at the forefront, before shifting her gaze to the elderly Beastman beside her.

Clan Leader Mo Nian was the male lead Mo Ze’s uncle.

He was a Sixth-rank Beastman of the White Tiger Clan.

Now over two hundred years old, he commanded considerable prestige within the clan, and his upright character made him well-deserving of his position as Clan Leader.

Yu Yue’er was startled by Su Cha’s fierce look but quickly glared back in anger.

She had nothing to be afraid of; the ones who should be scared were this pair of useless losers, Su Cha and Cang Yuan.

Mo Nian raised a hand, signaling the two Beastmen to stand down, and spoke quite seriously, “Today, we discovered a theft in the storehouse.

A Beastman reported seeing you and Cang Yuan stealing things yesterday, and the Dog Beastmen have also confirmed the scent of a Snake Beastman lingering inside.”

Mo Nian’s words were easy to accept; he didn’t immediately jump to the conclusion that they were definitively the thieves.

“Who saw it?” Su Cha asked, raising an eyebrow.

Her tone carried not a hint of panic at being caught red-handed; instead, she sounded completely unfazed.

“Yang Ying did,” Yu Yue’er said smugly, giving her a look that clearly demanded she confess immediately.

Only then did Su Cha notice a curly-haired female with a very weak presence standing off to the side.

The latter kept her head bowed, not daring to meet Su Cha’s eyes.

Su Cha didn’t beat around the bush and stated directly, “Clan Leader, I did pass by the storehouse, but I was looking for Cang Yuan.

I didn’t steal anything.”

“HAHA!

You went looking for this Snake Beastman?

Since when did you change your tune?

It’s much more believable to say you were looking for Mo Ze than him.

If you’re going to lie, at least find a better excuse,” Yu Yue’er immediately burst into laughter upon hearing this.

Even Cang Yuan behind her and Mo Ze to the side were astonished by Su Cha’s claim.

“Su Cha, the items in the storehouse are the clan’s public property.

They are meant to be distributed to everyone in the clan or traded with other clans for supplies.

Stop being so stubborn and unreasonable,” Mo Ze said, his gentle voice filled with what sounded like considerate concern.

Unfortunately, it only made Su Cha feel sick.

Even the Clan Leader hadn’t dared to definitively declare them guilty, yet Mo Ze had directly pinned the crime on her head with just a couple of sentences.

“What exactly is missing from the storehouse?” Su Cha didn’t even spare him a glance, addressing the Clan Leader directly instead.

Seeing Su Cha’s dismissive attitude toward him, Mo Ze felt a bitter pang in his heart.

She had never treated him this way before.

No matter what he used to say, Su Cha had always listened with rapt attention.

Mo Nian replied, “Some Dragon Beast Meat and a gemstone.”

Su Cha turned to Yang Ying and asked, “Did you really see me take these things out of the storehouse?”

“I…” Yang Ying looked up at Su Cha for a second before quickly lowering her head again.

She was just about to speak when Yu Yue’er rudely interrupted her.

“Yang Ying already told me she saw everything.

Stop making excuses!

You couldn’t possibly have eaten that much Dragon Beast Meat already.

We’ll know for sure once we search your place.”

“That’s right!

Have someone search the house for meat, and we’ll know,” another Beastman chimed in.

“That is indeed the fastest method.

Su Cha, to prove your innocence, it’s best to let the Beastmen go inside and take a look,” the Clan Leader suggested reasonably.

Su Cha looked at Yu Yue’er, a faint smile curling the corners of her lips.

“Be my guest.”

Seeing Su Cha so cooperative, the Clan Leader immediately ordered men to go inside and search, specifically instructing them not to break anything.

“HMPH!” Yu Yue’er tilted her chin up, smugly calling Su Cha an idiot in her mind.

Memories regarding this scene surfaced in Su Cha’s mind.

Yesterday, the original owner of her body had indeed sneaked into the storehouse, but she hadn’t stolen any meat or the gemstone.

She had merely stolen a stalk of Enchanting Grass, intending to use it on the male lead, Mo Ze.

She had also indeed run into Cang Yuan outside the storehouse and had mercilessly humiliated him before leaving.

Yang Ying was the original owner’s only good friend in the beast world, and she had accidentally witnessed her entering the storehouse yesterday.

In the original book, Yu Yue’er had brought people in and immediately arrested the original owner and Cang Yuan.

Afterward, they had found part of the missing Dragon Beast Meat and that gemstone in Su Cha’s house.

No matter how much she tried to explain, no one had believed her.

This particular scene hadn’t featured Yang Ying in the original book.

Because Yang Ying had received a favor from the female lead, Yunxi, she had slowly started to side with her.

In the end, filled with guilt, Yang Ying had tried to seek justice for the deceased original owner, only to be killed off by the completely corrupted villain as well.

Yesterday, it was the female lead who noticed something off about Yang Ying.

Yu Yue’er and the female lead, Yunxi, had conspired together to come up with this scheme.

Stealing a single stalk of Enchanting Grass wasn’t a big deal at all; at most, it would warrant a scolding.

However, Dragon Beast Meat was truly precious to the entire clan.

A Dragon Beast could only be encountered by sheer luck, and they were notoriously difficult to hunt.

Typically, it required over a dozen Beastmen from the clan to corner and take down a single, solitary Dragon Beast.

Dragon Beasts possessed precious beast crystals within their bodies, and consuming their meat regularly could greatly strengthen one’s physique.

As for that gemstone, it actually wasn’t anything particularly important.

It was just that the Rat Clan Beastmen liked shiny objects, so the clan had picked it up, intending to use it along with other gemstones to trade with the Rat Clan Beastmen for rice.

The final result in the book was that the original owner and Cang Yuan were each sentenced to thirty lashes according to clan rules.

They were only spared from being driven out of the clan because Mo Ze had pleaded for mercy on their behalf.

Cang Yuan, on the other hand, had handed over a yellow crystal to offset his thirty lashes.

The original owner, who had already been severely injured in the duel, ended up bedridden for two months straight.

Cang Yuan had completely ignored her, and she had only managed to pull through by relying on Yang Ying’s charity.

But this time, since Yu Yue’er wanted to plot against her, she would let her taste the bitter fruits of her own scheming.

Soon, the Beastmen who had gone inside to search came back out, announcing the result.

“Nothing.

We didn’t find anything.”

“How is that possible?

I clearly…”
