It couldn’t be helped since he had lost his strength. He couldn’t force his way out after eating; he would need to pay for the food. This was why he wanted to get some money from Feng Shuran.
After a brief second, Feng Shuran waved her right hand without saying anything, and several large boxes appeared on the ground in front of Gu Chen.
"These were all I was able to take away when the Dae Qu sect attacked my temple, Master. You can use them however you like." She said with a soft smile, not questioning why Gu Chen needed money.
Gu Chen blinked and looked at the boxes; there were six of them, and all were open, allowing him to see their contents.
Five of the boxes were filled with shining gold coins, while the last contained low-grade spirit stones, which Gu Chen estimated were worth around five thousand.
’How poor,’ Gu Chen thought inwardly after seeing the financial state that Feng Shuran was left in. Naturally, cultivators had no use for gold coins; their most-used currency was spirit stones.
Having only five thousand low-grade spirit stones could be considered wretched back when Gu Chen was still an immortal. Sadly, he had lost all his wealth too.
Under Feng Shuran’s careful gaze, Gu Chen walked over to the boxes and picked up a few gold coins before hiding them under the sleeves of his robe.
He currently had no use for spirit stones since he was only going out to eat; gold coins would be enough.
To be honest, they were already overkill considering how weak the people of this region were; a single gold coin should be worth a lot. But Gu Chen had no other choice; Feng Shuran didn’t have a single silver coin in her possession!
After taking the gold coins, Gu Chen told Feng Shuran to take back her boxes as he had collected what he needed.
Feng Shuran blinked, slightly confused.
’But Master only took a few gold coins and didn’t even touch the spirit stones.’ She knew that gold coins were useless to an immortal like her Master, but why didn’t he take the spirit stones?
’Could it be that he’s displeased by the grade and quantity of the spirit stones? Yes, that must be it!’ Feng Shuran added inwardly, thinking her action might have offended Gu Chen.
"I understand, Master, please forgive me." She said with a sincere voice while recalling the boxes into her storage magic treasure. At the same time, she silently promised to fish the entire Dae Qu sect later and gather more spirit stones for her Master!
Gu Chen lazily waved one of his hands, indicating that it was fine. The gold coins had already disappeared from his hands.
He had tried to see if he could keep items from the real world inside the system’s inventory. Gu Chen was secretly delighted when the coins disappeared, meaning that he could store items in the system!
"You can go now; come find me once you’re done." Gu Chen said, secretly having a feeling that he was forgetting something.
"Of course, Master. I’ll return to your side as soon as I’m through." Feng Shuran beamed with a smile, cupped her hands toward Gu Chen, and then disappeared the next moment.
She had used one of her martial techniques to cross several miles in the blink of an eye, but in Gu Chen’s eyes, it looked like she had disappeared into thin air.
"Now where was I?" Gu Chen mumbled to himself after Feng Shuran left to attend to her personal business. At that moment, something struck his mind, and he remembered what he seemed to have forgotten earlier.
"Fuck!" Gu Chen couldn’t help but curse as he looked around him.
He had planned to ask Feng Shuran for directions earlier but had totally forgotten in that brief moment. Now she was gone, and he was left alone in the middle of nowhere!
grrr~
Gu Chen’s stomach growled, reminding him to find food fast, else it might launch a revolt.
Still cursing, Gu Chen turned around a few times before turning in the direction that the cultivators of the Dae Qu sect had flown in earlier.
According to his understanding, sects in weak regions like Oghara usually had their territories close to a town.
He would have honestly gone after Feng Shuran instead, but he didn’t even see the direction that she disappeared to.
"She definitely went this way too if her target is the Dae Qu sect," Gu Chen sighed as he started his long walk, hoping he had picked the right direction.
...
Feng Shuran shot through the air soundlessly as she rushed toward the location of the Dae Qu sect ground, crossing miles with every step.
Previously, she had learned the Ten Thousand Miles Steps, but her cultivation only allowed her to travel five to six miles with every step.
Now that she had broken through to the Nascent Soul Realm, she was able to cross fifty miles with each step, greatly enhancing her travelling speed.
The surroundings blurred as she sped forward with a cold face; the warm expression that she had around Gu Chen had completely disappeared. It was now replaced by a serious face and cold eyes that seemed to pierce through one’s soul.
This was the true invisible killer, the Leader of the assassin temple that made everyone in Oghara tremble in fear.
After a bit over an hour, a huge town came into view. The walls of the town stretched for kilometres, and there were millions of people living inside. It was daytime, so the town was very active as people went about their day.
Feng Shuran didn’t stop and flew above the town without anyone noticing.
A few kilometres behind the town, five mountain peaks threatened to pierce the clouds; each mountain was massive enough to swallow a small town if placed on it.
At a closer look, one could spot several buildings on each mountain. Pavilions, courtyards, open platforms, and other dwellings could be spotted all over the five mountain peaks.
Feng Shuran came to a stop barely fifty meters away from these mountains; she hovered in the air as she stared at the territory of the Dae Qu sect with clear eyes.
The five mountain peaks were currently...deserted. Not a single soul could be seen on any of them.
The cultivators of the Dae Qu sect had fled before she arrived!
"How shifty," Feng Shuran mumbled with a cold smile, a dangerous glint flashing past her crimson eyes. She didn’t seem to be bothered about not finding anyone.
Naturally, there was a reason for her confidence.
While still standing in the air, Feng Shuran brought her right hand in front of her with two fingers stretched upwards. She started mumbling something while qi surged from within her.
After five seconds of silently chanting a strange incantation, she used the two fingers to draw a circle in the air before slapping it forward.
Pah!
A black circle appeared in front of Feng Shuran for a brief moment before shattering into countless fragments that shot out in different directions.
The next moment, Feng Shuran’s eyes turned pitch black, and she proceeded to look around her.
From her view, countless black spots had appeared in the distance and were stretching into the sky. Some were relatively close while others were very far away.
A murderous grin formed on her face. This was why she wasn’t worried about the people from the Dae Qu sect escaping.
Each one of them carried her shadow, Mark. As long as they hadn’t left Oghara, she would be able to find them!
