None of the black dots was inside the town close to the Dae Qu sect ground; they were all currently rushing towards the borders of Oghara, wanting to escape.
Not wasting a second at the empty sect ground, Feng Shuran turned around and flew towards the nearest cluster of black dots.
Using Ten Thousand Miles Steps, she crossed kilometres swiftly and arrived above a group of fleeing cultivators.
Feng Shuran stared at them from above as they fled on horseback; there were seventeen people, men and women, and all of them were at the QI Gathering Realm, which was why they needed to escape using horses.
They couldn’t control flying swords yet.
Feng Shuran stared at them as they rushed along a ground path in the middle of a cornfield; her eyes were still as cold as before, but she didn’t act right away.
She was...hesitant.
"That damned invisible killer, I finally managed to enter the path of immortality, but she didn’t even let me show off a bit!"
"Something bad must have happened to make the sect master disband the sect and force everyone to flee immediately; we weren’t even allowed to take our families with us."
"Since even the sect master is running away, we have no chance of stopping whatever that evil assassin can do. We can only hide for now and come back when we’re strong enough!"
In the air, Feng Shuran’s expression turned colder as she heard the people on the ground were talking to each other.
"I can’t believe I thought of sparing them; have I grown soft?" Feng Shuran mumbled to herself as she slowly flew towards the ground and drew closer to the fleeing cultivators.
She thought of a reason that could have caused her to change, and Gu Chen’s face immediately appeared in her mind.
Could she have grown soft because of him?
Probably.
After getting close enough, Feng Shuran immediately released her spiritual pressure on the seventeen people on the ground.
"Come back? Do you have the ability to leave?" She uttered in an icy tone.
Bang!!
The spiritual pressure of a Nascent Soul Realm was like a mountain to these weak QI Gathering cultivators.
The moment Feng Shuran’s pressure descended, all of them were slammed into the ground along with their horses.
"Argh!"
"Who’s there?"
"Please stop, Senior!"
Painful cries filled the air as the cultivators of the Dae Qu sect were crushed into the ground. Blood gushed out of their mouths and noses, and their bones shattered.
The horses weren’t any better; some of them even died right away.
Feng Shuran stared down at them without a single ripple in her eyes. She slowly stretched out her left hand towards them and increased the force of the pressure they were already suffering under.
"It’s...it’s invisible killer!"
"No, wait!"
Some of the cultivators managed to look up at Feng Shuran’s figure in the air, their eyes widened in horror after realising it was her. Despite that, they were about to beg for mercy, but Feng Shuran didn’t give them that chance as the pressure suddenly increased severalfold.
BAM!
As if a second mountain was dropped on them, all the people on the ground suddenly exploded into a bloody mess as the ground around them caved in.
Silence returned as Feng Shuran slowly lowered her hand. Not even sparing the crater a second glance, she flew towards her next target.
It didn’t take her too long to catch up to the next group of fleeing Dae Qu sect disciples. These ones were also only at the QI Gathering stage and were escaping on horses.
Feng Shuran’s eyes locked on them from above, and she quickly descended. She didn’t hesitate like before and immediately crushed them after getting close enough.
The group of cultivators and poor horses didn’t even realise what happened as their bodies exploded like fireworks and blood splattered everywhere.
Feng Shuran continued.
Time moved quickly; another hour passed as Feng Shuran kept hunting the disciples of the Dae Qu sect through the help of Shadow Mark.
She had long stopped encountering people at the QI Gathering stage and was now killing cultivators at the Foundation Establishment Realm.
These ones were able to use flying swords, and their speed was considerably faster than horses. Still, it didn’t prove much difference to Feng Shuran, who was at the Nascent Soul Realm, and she didn’t need to use a different killing move for them.
All she did was increase the amount of spirit pressure that she needed to kill them.
During the past hour, she had killed over four hundred QI Gathering stage disciples and over a hundred and fifty disciples and elders of the Dae Qu sect!
It was a fruitful hunt!
Meanwhile, Gu Chen had just reached a town. According to the caravan that had brought him here, the town was called Otefe and was under the control of the Dae Qu sect!
What a pleasant coincidence! And yes, Gu Chen was lucky enough to find a travelling caravan which saved him from the painful hours of walking.
Of course, he didn’t see the caravan immediately after Feng Shuran left him stranded. He had walked for over thirty minutes and was even attacked by wild savage beasts!
The hateful group of monsters had repeatedly harassed him during his walk, and Gu Chen was unwilling to waste any of his precious items from the system on some savage beasts that wouldn’t even cost a single low-grade spirit stone.
He had covered his head with his sleeves and folded like a turtle while the beasts attacked him. After minutes passed and they realised that they couldn’t do anything to him, they stopped attacking and just watched him instead.
When Gu Chen moved, they followed him from behind as if waiting for a chance to strike.
Gu Chen didn’t want to take any chances; he continued covering his head while walking slowly; running would make the creatures attack him immediately.
After a while, they came across the caravan, which had a few QI Gathering stage cultivators protecting it.
Gu Chen had them immediately rush towards them, crying for help. Naturally, seeing him suddenly run, the beasts thought he had lost his weird protection and immediately went after him.
The QI Gathering stage cultivators who were protecting the caravan saw the beasts behind Gu Chen and wanted to drive him away, but they quickly changed their mind after Gu Chen waved a gold coin in the air.
While gold coins were useless to cultivators above the Foundation Establishment Realm, it was still useful to those below that rank, as they still needed to eat regularly and afford weapon fitting for their level.
A gold coin could get these QI Gathering stage cultivators a few good swords and protective pieces of clothing, so they jumped in and swiftly dealt with the beasts before inviting Gu Chen to join the caravan.
He then had to pay another gold coin to the owner of the caravan to let him travel with them to the next town. Naturally, a few silver coins would have been enough, but all Gu Chen had were big bills.
The owner of the caravan mistook him for someone from a wealthy family and naturally allowed him to come with them after taking the gold coin.
That was how Gu Chen arrived at Otefe in two hours!
