“Fuck, I!”
That lifeless black mirror erupted violently in response. Cracks shot from every direction toward the center, accompanied by earth-shaking tremors, as if desperate to tear the heavy mirror-self within countless fragments.
Even shattered into innumerable pieces, each shard would still bear the image of the snake.
That snake had already become the pattern etched into the black mirror, subtle, elusive and precisely because of that, the mirror itself failed to notice.
This stagnant surface, unlike a tranquil lake, was invaded by venom from that moment on. Like maggots boring into bone, decay began instantly.
Chi Jianqing stood there, stunned and unmoving, completely crushed.
A droplet still hung from his lowered lashes, dark and long like crow feathers. It was a bead of saliva left by the snake’s tongue.
The snake before him had no intention of letting Chi Jianqing go. Its tongue curled away the droplet pressed to the lower lip, circling around him.
Yu Lang tilted his head up, looking at the overly tall man before him. His slender fingers pressed into the muscles of the other’s arm, pinching shallow dents into the flesh.
Before Yu Lang could speak, Chi Jianqing had already moved.
He mechanically clamped a hand around Yu Lang’s throat, dragging and hauling him toward the bed. With a twist of the wrist and a forward shove, Yu Lang was flung onto the bed like a rag doll.
Yu Lang was startled. Earlier, even a simple kiss had made Chi Jianqing shy, barely resembling a man.
How had a bit of teasing suddenly triggered an explosion of action?!
Yu Lang ran again, darting to where the knife had fallen and snatching it up.
Before he could resist, his resistance once more became part of the play. He was seized again and thrown onto the bed.
Barefoot, he curled into the corner of the bed, clutching the knife and glaring at Chi Jianqing warily.
Running his mouth was one thing.
But once it became real, Yu Lang turned exceptionally chaste and fiercely virtuous.
Chi Jianqing slowly tilted his head.
The seed of coercion seemed to be planted and sprouting from this very moment.
Chi Jianqing grabbed Yu Lang’s hand like a mechanical arm, guiding the knife to press against his own chest, the blade tip aimed at flesh.
A powerful force compelled the blade downward.
Yu Lang’s wrist shook violently. He exerted nearly all his strength to resist this act of self-harm yet it was like an ant trying to shake a tree.
His hand slid down. The blade shifted, slicing open fabric. The tip bit into flesh, leaving a deep gash.
Skin and flesh split open, bloody and raw, exposing the bright red tissue beneath. The cross-sections of severed vessels were so clear they could almost be counted.
Blood surged outward.
The flesh around the heart throbbed in time with each beat.
It felt as though only a thin, fragile membrane separated the heart from the outside world.
That vivid, crimson, blood-soaked scene once again flooded Yu Lang’s pupils.
His hand was still trembling but this time, it was not fear.
It was excitement.
A shivering thrill at the sight of filth and violence.
Yu Lang’s breathing quickened. He thought that if he added just one more stab, if he plunged the blade in and pulled it back out, would he be able to see again that night’s fountain-like eruption of blood?
Yu Lang did nothing.
He merely stared.
A straight line of blood flowed from his nose, pooling into a small river along the hollow above his upper lip.
He was too excited.
The metallic scent of blood spread through the air. He inhaled deeply, drawing it into his lungs, deliberately savoring its texture.
It really was delicate, like silk.
Before Yu Lang could think any further, the little clothing he had left on his body was torn away by Chi Jianqing.
He was pinned tightly between the cold bed beneath him and the scorching heat of the man above him.
There was nowhere to escape.
Yu Lang’s mind suddenly shut down completely.
Now it was his turn to become the short-circuited machine.
The hand resting on the bedding suddenly curled, then clenched tightly, nails digging in as if he wanted to tear straight through the sheets.
“W–wait!!”
Yu Lang’s pupils flew open, wider than they had ever been before.
He couldn’t tell whether Chi Jianqing was simply too obedient or whether this had been his intention all along.
The action came too fast, too decisively. It was as if Chi Jianqing had been pretending to be harmless, coaxing Yu Lang into saying those tempting words, only to leave him no room to maneuver, no chance to escape and then carry it through to the end without hesitation.
The veins on the back of his hand seemed to take on a life of their own, embedded in muscle, twitching and pulsing, rising and falling in a steady rhythm.
Yu Lang felt himself sinking into the soft bedding like a swamp. His chest lost the ability to breathe on its own. He tilted his head back, breaking their face to face alignment, staring into the pale, unfocused air above, mouth open as he struggled to drag in breath.
He was almost snapping his nails off, digging them into the blanket.
Chi Jianqing noticed.
He guided those hands to his own shoulders and arms.
With every breath, Chi Jianqing’s chest, back and even his face were left with thin, blade-like scratches.
At some point, cold sweat had coated them both.
A burning-hot body, chilled beads of sweat, a heavy weight pressing down, air thick and decadent.
Yu Lang’s consciousness dissolved completely.
His mouth was shouting no, saying he didn’t want this.
But in his heart, he was helplessly in love with the feeling of being enveloped.
Chi Jianqing’s body was overwhelming in its sense of security, so much so that it felt as if he had blotted out the ceiling above Yu Lang’s head. No matter where Yu Lang looked, all he could see was Chi Jianqing’s massive, solid frame.
And scattered densely across that body were streaks of seeping red, marks that Yu Lang himself had left behind.
That pale, bloodless, powerful body wrapped in threadlike trails of blood made Yu Lang stare, transfixed.
Who else could he sleep with? Where else could he sleep and ever see a sight like this?
Without realizing it, something in Yu Lang’s heart quietly shifted.
It was a desire sparked by beauty alone.
In that instant, he flipped from passive to active.
Sharp nails dug into Chi Jianqing’s chest muscles, the flesh yielding softly beneath his grip, tender like freshly steamed buns.
“You’re such a slut.”
Yu Lang cursed him.
Chi Jianqing grew even more excited.
“Ah, ngh! Gently! Slower!”
Chi Jianqing lowered his head.
Yu Lang’s internal alarm blared instantly. He turned his face away.
“No kissing.”
Chi Jianqing was very obedient, so he settled for kissing the cold metal of the lip ring resting against Yu Lang’s mouth.
Suddenly, a sharp pain flared in Yu Lang’s hand.
The fruit knife had fallen beside the pillow at some point and without noticing, he had cut himself.
A thin gash ran across the pads of three fingers.
Blood trickled down.
Chi Jianqing cradled that hand, preventing Yu Lang from lifting it. Instead, he lowered himself again and again, until his face was level with the wound.
If he couldn’t kiss his mouth, he would kiss the injury.
A mouth was still a mouth.
Yu Lang felt himself being licked.
Watching Chi Jianqing now felt like watching a small animal trying to please its owner.
Yu Lang felt pleased on the inside but couldn’t show that fondness on his face.
So he raised his hand and slapped him.
The sharp slap snapped Chi Jianqing’s tightly coiled body back into place like a released spring.
Chi Jianqing looked down at him again, a trace of amusement hidden in his gaze, still that objectifying stare, like a glass case covering a piece of art, airtight and suffocating, impossible to escape.
Blood at the corner of his mouth curved upward, like a smile split open.
The excitement had already gone beyond mere excitement.
It had become sexual arousal.
Chi Jianqing’s threshold for excitement seemed extraordinarily low. Just being slapped once by Yu Lang was enough to leave him flushed, breathless.
Pain swelled against the skin, igniting sensation. Desire spread through the body like cancer cells, multiplying uncontrollably.
Affection. Lust. Heat. Restlessness.
Every necessary element was now in place.
And so, at that instant on the brink of eruption,
Chi Jianqing leaned down, his heart pounding violently.
Because at the same moment Yu Lang offered him a kiss, he also drove the knife into Chi Jianqing’s chest.
The heart could be seen pounding wildly inside his ribcage. The blade went in and did not come out, twisting as it churned through the heart.
As he did this, Chi Jianqing’s knife was also embedded in Yu Lang’s body.
Warm, sticky crimson blood splattered everywhere, smearing across Yu Lang’s face, thick and clinging, carrying a nauseating stench.
“Hypocrite.”
Yu Lang cursed him, brows lifted, waiting to witness Chi Jianqing’s death.
Chi Jianqing lowered his head. With pale hands, he tore open the ruptured wound and plunged them into his own chest.
He grabbed hold of his failing heart and yanked it out, while it was still beating, while it was still warm, while Yu Lang still liked it.
A hot, soft heart was forcibly placed into Yu Lang’s palms, Chi Jianqing’s hands closing over him from both sides, reinforcing the grip, pressing Yu Lang’s hands together around it.
“What?!”
Yu Lang stiffened in shock, his expression nearly vacant.
This had gone far beyond his threshold for excitement.
It was disgusting.
His throat convulsed repeatedly, violent nausea surging up from his stomach straight toward his skull.
Chi Jianqing lowered his head and gently touched Yu Lang’s cold forehead.
Then he whispered a confession so chilling it raised goosebumps:
“I won’t die and I will never let you go.”
