Chi Jianqing pushed through the crowd and walked straight up to Yu Lang, stopping directly in front of him.

Yu Lang flicked him a glance, then lowered his head and pressed his lips to the rim of the glass, taking a small sip of liquor.

Very quickly, a group of troublemakers surged forward and surrounded them, sizing Chi Jianqing up and down with unfriendly gazes, treating the unfamiliar face as an intruder.Full novel: My Yandere Ghost Husband Follows Me Through Worlds — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yu Lang set the glass down. The base struck the tabletop with a hard, solid knock.

He pointed at Chi Jianqing, then lifted his chin toward the glass he had just drunk from, signaling that this drink was being bestowed upon someone else.

Chi Jianqing stepped closer once more, naturally leaning forward, lowering his posture slightly so that Yu Lang wouldn’t have to tilt his head up to look at him.

Yu Lang rubbed his ear, still maintaining that arrogant, overbearing demeanor. His body relaxed even further as he leaned back against the sofa, disdain written plainly across his face, as though silently accusing Chi Jianqing of coming over just to ruin the mood.

Yu Lang thought to himself that Chi Jianqing would surely question him, why he hadn’t kept his word, why he hadn’t gone home when he said he would.

And Yu Lang was already prepared to use his usual set of cutting, manipulative words to drive Chi Jianqing away.

A man jabbed Chi Jianqing hard in the arm with his elbow, about to curse him for being shameless, when Yu Lang shot him a look that stopped him cold.

The next second, Yu Lang sat upright.

He grabbed the collar Chi Jianqing had offered up and yanked it forcefully toward himself, watching the man bow his head before him, stumbling forward like a collapsing landslide, completely out of control. Yu Lang couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile.

He raised his glass, lifting his arm high, holding it suspended at the same level as Chi Jianqing’s eyes and brows.

Yu Lang leaned his face forward, using the small glass between them like a mirror.

“Not saying anything?”

Chi Jianqing remained silent. Those eyes of his, soaked in the loneliness of a full night’s northwest wind, met Yu Lang’s gaze with cold indifference.

The pallor of his skin turned, in that instant, into something like the moon itself, hanging alone and isolated in the sky.

Rather than wanting to question Yu Lang about why he hadn’t gone home, Chi Jianqing wanted to ask him why he hadn’t taken him along.

Among ten admirers, it turned out there truly wasn’t a place reserved for him.

The cold surface of the glass pressed against Chi Jianqing’s face, maliciously pushing into his cheek.

“Not angry?”

“Not jealous?”

“Not going to hit me?”

Yu Lang nearly rolled his eyes into the ceiling, snorting coldly in irritation. “Why are you pretending to be so magnanimous?”

The glass was raised high again, lifted above Chi Jianqing’s lowered head.

His arm began to tremble from being held aloft for too long, like a slender bamboo pole, swaying even without wind, fragile enough to snap at any moment.

Chi Jianqing reached out and seized that thin wrist, steadying the weapon suspended above his own head.

Yu Lang’s expression turned ugly in an instant, as though he had bitten into a green lemon. From his nasal cavity to his throat, it felt as if needles were pricking him everywhere.

But very quickly, Yu Lang forced all that sour bitterness down and replaced it with a flippant smile.

Under Chi Jianqing’s gaze, Yu Lang’s wrist rotated gently.

Once, then again.

The grip of Chi Jianqing’s palm around his wrist loosened slightly in response, indulgently allowing Yu Lang to continue the impending act of malice against him.

The gap in the hold widened more and more.

The liquor clung to the inner wall of the glass, already on the verge of spilling over the rim and falling.

But at the very moment it was about to break free, Yu Lang straightened his wrist and slammed the glass back onto the table with something close to a smash.

The flippant smile on his face was stretched wide with boundless malice as he brazenly, loudly mocked Chi Jianqing in front of everyone, pointing straight at his nose:

“Did you think I was going to pour this wine over your head? Hahahaha, did you think I didn’t know you were looking forward to it?”

At that moment, the DJ’s music on stage surged perfectly into its climax. The entire venue erupted in roaring noise, shouts shaking the ceiling as if the world itself were about to flip upside down in that instant.

Chi Jianqing stood isolated within the cacophony, so quiet he seemed almost dead, expressionless, without a trace of warmth as he endured Yu Lang’s malice.

After the climax of a song, there is inevitably a brief transitional phase.

During that transition, the venue became less deafening, relatively quieter, even the drumbeats turning light and brisk.

Yu Lang raised his hand and delivered a slap, determined to drive Chi Jianqing away in one decisive move.

The slap came far too suddenly.

Even Chi Jianqing had no time to prepare. As his face was struck and turned aside, his pupils widened sharply.

The loud crack nearly split the air, drawing the drunken stares of nearby alcohol-soaked onlookers, who watched in stunned sobriety.

“So disgusting. Like a piece of dogskin plaster.”

Yu Lang laid their undignified relationship bare before everyone, turning Chi Jianqing’s indulgent affection and tolerance into a joke, slicing it open and serving it up like a dish, an appetizing accompaniment to tonight’s all-night revelry.

“Pathetic lickspittle.”

Yu Lang cursed him again.

People around them had already begun to jeer along with Yu Lang, joining in to call Chi Jianqing a bootlicker.

Yu Lang’s smile grew ever more vicious. Even the tattoo hidden inside his lower lip subtly revealed itself, as though secretly joining its owner in humiliating the stubborn, unrepentant admirer before them.

Yu Lang grabbed Chi Jianqing’s collar and shoved him downward once more.

Chi Jianqing lost his balance, switching to bracing himself with both hands against Yu Lang’s arms, maintaining the last sliver of space between them.

Yu Lang lifted his leg and planted his foot between Chi Jianqing’s legs, pushing outward.

The gleaming leather boot ground back and forth, slowly and deliberately, like crushing a cigarette butt.

Chi Jianqing didn’t budge an inch, becoming nothing more than a footrest beneath Yu Lang’s sole.

Yu Lang pressed his brows down hard, forcing wave after wave of revulsion to spill out. His eyes lashed like brooms, sweeping and striking.

He tightened his grip on the tie in his hand once again, yanking Chi Jianqing’s body close until there was almost no space left between them.

Yu Lang ground his teeth. His snake-like tongue was pinned beneath his teeth by extreme displeasure and from between clenched teeth, from deep in his nose, he hissed out a low curse:

“And this still gets you hard?!”
