The man trying to force Chi Jianqing to drink pressed the cup against his face.

Chi Jianqing grabbed the man’s wrist and pushed outward.

The motion was clean, efficient; skin barely touched for a blink and the force sent the man staggering backward, unable to recover his balance immediately.Full novel: My Yandere Ghost Husband Follows Me Through Worlds — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The glass shattered on the floor, eliciting gasps.

He rose like a massive mountain, his presence dominating everything within sight, cold eyes scanning the crowd until everyone bowed their heads, terrified.

But soon, that mountain collapsed.

Where was Yu Lang?!

Chi Jianqing’s body sagged, eyes searching frantically. He wished for dozens more eyes on his pale face to survey the hotel’s every corner at once.

Two eyes weren’t enough. They spun in their sockets, nearly burning from the effort yet still empty, revealing no trace of Yu Lang.

Chi Jianqing dashed out, reaching the bar’s entrance and heard the familiar roar of a motorcycle engine. Following the sound, he saw it: Yu Lang’s bike.

The slender figure, helmeted, straddled the bike, a small tuft of platinum hair peeking out from beneath the helmet.

The visor was aimed straight at Chi Jianqing.

Clearly, Yu Lang was waiting, deliberately revving the engine to draw attention.

Chi Jianqing hurried forward but Yu Lang twisted the throttle, roaring off with a thunderous growl.

The speed was not extreme; in fact, he seemed to deliberately slow, teasing, enticing Chi Jianqing to follow.

The commotion created by the bike far exceeded his departure.

Chi Jianqing leapt into his own car to chase, a low profile black luxury vehicle tailing Yu Lang’s bike. Engines roared, vibrations rattling the floor, tires pressing against the road as they surged forward.

The midnight wind cut sharp and cold, alcohol burning through Yu Lang’s blood, heightening every nerve.

Even with a helmet, the icy gust seeped through gaps, drenching him in a sensation like immersion in mint infused water.

Heavy. Numbing. Damp.

But exquisite, a tingling, full body thrill, a heady sense of weightlessness.

Flying through the night, skimming the edge of life and death.

Yu Lang’s speed climbed, tires screaming against asphalt.

He took curves without slowing, seemingly courting danger, zipping past with a thrilling swiftness. After a series of near death swerves, he forcibly righted the bike.

Cold sweat soaked him but he knew the motorcycle was a tightrope unicycle. One wrong gust of wind, one misstep and it could end his life.

Chi Jianqing’s eyes narrowed in the rearview, window down, one hand gripping the wheel while half his body leaned out, yelling:

“Stop! You stop right now!”

His voice was drowned by the roaring bike, rough and metallic, harsh and grating.

The combination of pursuit, obsession and reckless abandon sent Yu Lang’s adrenaline soaring.

His hands, numb from the cold, twisted the throttle without limit. Acceleration knew no ceiling.

On this endless, invisible road, crashing to the death was the ultimate thrill.

Chi Jianqing’s cries continued, unsteady, laced with malice, each shout a command, a threat.

“Yu Lang!”

Clenching his teeth, Yu Lang savored it.

With a thought of “as you wish,” he slammed the brakes and the bike skidded violently, throwing him sideways. Sparks erupted along the rough concrete like wildfire, stretching toward the horizon.

The dawn’s light tinged the sky with pale yellow, no longer pure white. A faint orange glimmer burned softly.

Chi Jianqing jerked the steering wheel. Braking now was too late. The car shot onto the roadside barrier, the vehicle lurching violently.

With a deafening crash, it sounded as if the world itself had been struck by lightning and thunder.

The barrier was ripped from the ground, flying tens of meters away. The hood of the luxury car crumpled inward, forming a massive dent. Wisps of misty, particulate laden smoke curled upward from the mangled steel body.

The acrid stench of gasoline filled the air, leaking from the wheels in a twisting, winding stream that coiled across the ground like a tiny river of fire.

Even restrained by a seatbelt, Chi Jianqing was flung violently forward, slamming into the airbag yet still smearing his face with blood.

Ignoring his own injuries, Chi Jianqing fumbled to unbuckle the seatbelt, leaping from the car to check on Yu Lang.

Yu Lang lay flat on the ground, motionless, his chest rising and falling only in the faintest rhythm, like a dying man.

Chi Jianqing’s heart clenched as he approached, only to find that Yu Lang was merely lying there, gazing serenely at the foggy, white sky above.

Seeing Chi Jianqing still full of life, Yu Lang rolled his eyes in mild exasperation.

Chi Jianqing leaned closer, his upper and lower body bending at an almost impossible angle, folding in on itself just to hover near Yu Lang.

Yu Lang’s hand shot up, aiming at Chi Jianqing’s face, delivering a weak, almost lethargic slap.

“Was the drink good?”

Chi Jianqing clasped Yu Lang’s hand, preventing it from retracting.

“Not good.”

Yu Lang tilted his head toward the smoking wreck of the luxury car nearby, dissatisfied. “Why didn’t you just crash into it and die?”

Blood red streaks slid down Chi Jianqing’s expressionless face. The impact of the second collision had reopened his wounds.

Like a once pristine mirror now cracked and scarred, his features bore the marks of damage, a fracturing reality.

“You’d only be satisfied if I were dead, huh?”

Yu Lang’s palm shifted into a finger, rigid and pointed, hovering like a warning baton just above Chi Jianqing’s face.

“I didn’t say anything. Don’t give me that look like I’m making things hard for you again.”

His voice was hard, striking Chi Jianqing’s senses like a hammer blow.

Chi Jianqing sank to his knees, the space between them compressed into an intimate, suffocating little black room.

The mirror of his face continued to fracture inward silently.

Chi Jianqing cupped Yu Lang’s upper body in his lap, hands pale but warm, settling lightly over Yu Lang’s hair, stroking as gently as one would a small cat.

The scene bordered on the absurd.

A high speed motorcycle lay splintered and twisted a hundred meters away. The deep black luxury car had smashed through the barrier, careening into a tree trunk, leaking oil and emitting smoke, all within just a dozen meters of them.

A single spark could trigger a catastrophic explosion.

Yet in this precarious, danger laden zone, the two men lay there, calm, entwined.

Yu Lang could not stay still. He scrambled up, grabbing Chi Jianqing by the collar, pressing him down to the ground, straddling his waist.

His left hand clutched the collar; his right dug into Chi Jianqing’s face. With a twisted, feral expression, he demanded an explanation.

“You drank the wine someone gave you. Don’t you usually refuse? Why didn’t you refuse him? Why, in front of me, would you pretend we don’t know each other and still accept someone else’s favors?”

“Chi Jianqing!”

“Hmm?”

“You’ve got some nerve. Trying to see if I care about you?”

“….”

“Well, you succeeded. I’m genuinely upset now.”
