“Why are you crying? Is it because the food is so good you’re moved to tears? Or did my cooking make you think of your mom?”

Yu Lang laughed loudly as he spoke, his fingers mischievously poking and prodding beneath Chi Jianqing’s eyes, treating the tears that slipped down as if they were just another dish to go with the meal.

“Ugh… that’s so disgusting. I don’t want to be your mom.”Full novel: My Yandere Ghost Husband Follows Me Through Worlds — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yu Lang would never understand why Chi Jianqing was crying. He didn’t understand tears and even less did he understand the tears of someone who loved.

All he knew was how to prop himself against the table, point at those tears and laugh at Chi Jianqing for being a fragile, overly sensitive crybaby.

After two tears fell, Chi Jianqing stopped crying.

The hollowness returned to his gaze, like an excavated mine shaft, emptied out, leaving only an unfathomable depth stretching endlessly inward.

“Why did you stop crying again?”

Yu Lang tilted his head, looking left, then right, his finger still pressing down on Chi Jianqing’s eyelid, trying to squeeze out a few more tears.

Chi Jianqing leaned forward, lowering his body and placed a light, fleeting kiss on Yu Lang’s brow.

Yu Lang instinctively closed his eyes yet just as instinctively, his hand pushed the other person away.

At that moment, a long, lingering sigh sounded softly by his ear.

Yu Lang still insisted on pushing him away.

“I want to kill everyone around you yet I’m afraid you’ll be lonely; I want to break your hands and feet and keep you locked by my side yet I don’t want to see you become a bird with broken wings. I’m always chasing after you, capturing you, then letting you go. Will we really have an eternity?”

Yu Lang thought about the luxury villa that still hadn’t come into his hands.

He leaned in on his own initiative and returned Chi Jianqing a kiss, pressing their lips together at the very center. He didn’t deepen it; it was merely a brief contact, lips touching.

The lip ring at the center of his lower lip formed a natural barrier.

It looked like a kiss yet there was always something cold standing between them.

As long as the lip ring remained, every kiss Yu Lang gave carried a sense of separation, cold, sharp and obstructed.

“You’re too sensitive but it’s my fault for making you uneasy and anxious.”

As for the even more conscience defying words, Yu Lang lowered his head, gathered his emotions for a moment, felt his nose sting and then spoke them out frankly, humming as he did so:

“Before I met you, I didn’t know what a lover was. It wasn’t until the moment I held your hand and hugged you that I felt happiness. I’m fickle and frivolous, you know I don’t like being restrained but I still chose to be with you. You are the choice I made after struggling and thinking through countless days and nights, the final decision I reached while resisting my incorrigible nature. I have the greatest sincerity toward you, toward this relationship.”

“We’ll have forever. Pinky swear.”

Yu Lang lifted his arm, his little finger held up devoutly, hovering between the two of them.

Chi Jianqing ignored the oath. All of a sudden, he stood up, grabbed Yu Lang by the waist and lifted him. A loud clatter rang out as bowls and chopsticks on the table were swept deeper onto its surface.

The dishes on the table were updated,

Yu Lang.

Yu Lang’s vow became a noose. He wrapped it around Chi Jianqing’s neck of his own accord, his legs naturally clamping around Chi Jianqing’s waist.

Chi Jianqing lowered his head, burying it against Yu Lang’s chest and took a deep breath.

In the past, a hug like that would have been enough for Chi Jianqing to feel satisfied and step away.

But this time, his breathing was heavy, his body rigid, his abdomen burning with heat. He was clearly not satisfied. In fact, that deep inhalation seemed to pull desire open into a bottomless abyss.

Yu Lang tilted his neck back, leaning his head away.

Because he didn’t want a kiss. He only wanted to make love.

“Hiss!”

Yu Lang’s body tensed all at once. Every muscle, from his fingers to his toes, recoiled inward, coiling toward the center.

Chi Jianqing bit down on his collarbone, biting so fiercely it was as if he might chew through the bone itself!

Yu Lang looked down and saw the full set of teeth marks gleaming across his collarbone. Every ridge and groove of the bite was unnervingly clear and sharp, as though carved with a precision knife.

No blood had been drawn but the bite was vicious. The entire circle of teeth marks radiated a flushed, blood pulsing sensation, as if the veins beneath the skin had ruptured and all the red blood cells were boiling, desperate to surge out of the mangled flesh.

Yu Lang rubbed his collarbone, then lifted a hand to pinch Chi Jianqing’s cheek, pushing him away.

“Are you a dog?”

Chi Jianqing didn’t speak. Instead, he closed the gap he had just been pushed away from and leaned in again, closing in on Yu Lang’s face.

Yu Lang sat on the edge of the table, while Chi Jianqing stood by the table.

The already dramatic height difference was stretched to a nearly shocking degree in that instant.

Yu Lang looked like a small silicone toy placed on the table, tiny and delicate, something that could be held, examined and manipulated with both hands.

Chi Jianqing was the owner of this toy.

The owner had absolute authority over the toy.

His gaze slid across Yu Lang’s body like a blade.

From the legs swinging off the edge of the table, to the hands braced on either side, the body leaning back, to the head tilted deliberately to expose a vulnerable neck,

It was as if a faint horizontal line had appeared across Yu Lang’s body, waiting for Chi Jianqing to slice along it.

Time ticked away, second by second.

Yu Lang waited for a storm of release to erupt upon him by the seaside, imagined but intense.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

Until his neck ached from being tilted back, his hands hurt from pressing down and his calves bore two bright red marks where the table had pressed into them.

Chi Jianqing still made not a single move.

“Erectile dysfunction?”

Yu Lang lowered his head, noticing that he was staring at Chi Jianqing’s chest, muttering under his breath that he was too bulky, while simultaneously adjusting his posture, tilting his head to look up at Chi Jianqing’s face.

At the same time, he lifted one leg, barefoot, pressing it against Chi Jianqing’s abdomen.

It made it convenient for him to tease Chi Jianqing and convenient for Chi Jianqing to pry his leg apart, ready to tear and consume at any moment.

“Why aren’t you hard yet? Don’t you like me anymore?”

As he spoke, the forked tip of his tongue inevitably peeked out into the air.

The tongue drew Chi Jianqing’s attention. The snake-like tip slithered to the upper teeth. The upper lip pressed down on the lower, flipping it outward, revealing five letters etched onto the inside of the lips:

FUCK U

The brilliance of having it there, etched in that location, was that even a direct insult could be interpreted as flirtation.

Chi Jianqing didn’t respond. His throat made faint clicking sounds.

His rusting, outdated processor of a brain, under Yu Lang’s overwhelming assault, had completely malfunctioned.

He needed time to reboot himself.

His mind was a mess.

So happy, so overwhelmingly happy that tears of joy threatened to fill his empty shell once more.

Everything, for Chi Jianqing, was sweet to the point of excess.

Like consuming arsenic, he was about to die.

Yu Lang’s earnest words of love, his pinky swear, the way he used his mouth to seduce, his foot pressing on him,

Chi Jianqing had already reached the peak of pleasure.

Though his eyes blinked, in truth, he had been lost in it for a long while.

Through the barrier of virtual reality, Chi Jianqing removed his headset, paused the game and went out to the balcony to let the evening breeze hit his face. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes.

He lit one and let out a dry, wry laugh.

The passing butler, sensing something unusual, asked worriedly, “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the young master smile like this.”

Chi Jianqing coughed twice, reined in his laughter but his mouth couldn’t hide the curve of his lips.

Half boasting, half in awe, he said:

“My husband said he would be with me forever.”

Chi Jianqing lingered for quite some time before returning to the strategy game.

Unfortunately, in the silence, Yu Lang had grown angry.

He kicked out sharply, thankfully at Chi Jianqing or else anyone else would have had their kidneys shattered by that blow.

“Damn it, you’re not answering?! You really don’t like me anymore?!”

Yu Lang shouted, his eyebrows scrunched with his eyes, twisting his face to the center, the whole expression grotesque, as if he had just bitten into a bitter melon, utterly feral.

His entire face screamed outrage.

In that instant, his body flushed red, grinding his teeth and kicking in frustration.

His breathing quickened, chest rising and falling rapidly, his foot pressing against Chi Jianqing’s abdomen trembling with restless energy.

One hand braced against the table to keep himself steady, the other scrambled to pull up his shirt, ensuring Chi Jianqing wouldn’t see anything he shouldn’t.

Yu Lang mentally cursed Chi Jianqing for his cunning.

After being a sycophant for so long, holding himself high in anticipation, all to have this moment, Chi Jianqing suddenly pulled away, leaving him to crash hard.

Yu Lang cursed himself for being foolish.

Thinking himself so high and mighty, he failed to realize the real control had always been in Chi Jianqing’s hands, the one who had so often played the submissive, flattering role.

When Chi Jianqing decided he no longer wanted to play along, he could instantly sever ties. Yu Lang should have known this.

Such cleverness. Truly remarkable.

Yu Lang’s expression froze for a long while, clearly annoyed.

But then he thought it through.

To get angry was to admit defeat, to acknowledge that he couldn’t outplay Chi Jianqing.

A twisted sigh escaped him, like a poorly played note from a beginner’s violin, awkward and grating.

He forced himself to calm down.

Letting go of the table, he bent down to button up his island style floral shirt, humming in a deliberately casual, indifferent tone:

“Anyway, I never really liked you. All those words of love were lies. I just wanted to play with your feelings, to watch you act like my dog and if we have to talk about forever, then fine, forever, I’ll never let you win.”
