Chapter 18: Royal Capital.

Mythos: The Undefeated One

Cold breeze whizzed past Luke’s face, his raven black hair fluttered in the wind, as he watched the small towns and villages below grow smaller as the seconds passed.

Luke was now enroute to the royal capital with two main purposes in mind, the first was to level up his shape shifter class to level 10, while the next was to participate in the hunter trial in one of the citadels located in the royal capital.

Luke knew randomly searching for spawning void gates or journeying to the woods in search of void creatures would be too dangerous, he was not going to risk it. He would rather take an established path, a path which could only be found in the Royal capital.

"Man, I’m hungry." Luke muttered eyes half lidded as he watched the snow get thicker."

The Griffin chariot traversed large distances speedily, during these moments, Luke watched the weather fluctuate, villages turning to towns and even the chariot crossing dangerous void zones. Soon enough the snow began thinning, the Chariot that had been rising began its descent.

Minutes later, far away, luke caught sight of the kingdom of Dawn’s Royal capital.

A few miles before the Royal capital itself, there stood various military forts.

Surrounding the outer ring of the city were various massive walls, spanning about 150 meters high.

Outside the walls were a bunch of caravans, different Griffin chariots lined close to each other.

Goods were also being imported into the city.

There was a large iron gate situated at the center of the wall, not an ordinary one, it was double the size of the walls, with a length of over 300 meters, hundreds of refugees from void creature invaded towns could be seen walking through its entrance.

At the entrance of the royal capital, stood

elite guards, inscribed on the sides were scanning runes, and artifacts, fostering inspection.

From above, Luke could see the various districts located in the city, there was the market district, which was the closest to the gate, where large plazas could be seen, along with void monster materials, magic scrolls, hunter accessories, blacksmiths, restaurants, inns, taverns and the likes. There were various individuals numbering in thousands continuously walking around the district.

In the residential District, there were apartments, noble estates, neighborhoods. Located in the residential district were also various academies for the awakened, there were libraries and research towers.

There was the hunter District, Luke could see various guild headquarters, minor clan Infrastructures, a large arena, Weapon and accessory shops.

*Hold on tight."

Luke barely had time to recuperate and process the words of the Griffin rider when the chariot was suddenly pulled forward at full speed. Luckily he held unto the window just in time.

The Griffin landed close to the caravan, besides various other Griffins, Luke alighted the chariot, his boots crashed on the snow in a large crunch. The passengers in the chariot followed, each and every one of them getting down from the chariot along with the rider.

He studied the surroundings, there were other chariots arriving from the sky, while everything else were tents, spanning over hundred of meters, there were hunters in dark uniforms coordinating the refugees, most in the tents, others given orders, some standing guard.

Before any of them could make a move, a young man with black hair and cold blue eyes approached the chariot, he was dressed in pristine white and everything about him screamed authority.

And not only that but Luke felt a strong urge to kneel.

In a moment, beads of sweat began falling from his head, Luke glanced at the passengers, they weren’t faring better than he was too.

The figure faced the Griffin rider. Then asked a question. "Is your chariot amongst the last batch from the uncanny hill?"

"Y-yes sir." The old man nodded his head with visible restrain, the young man then snapped his fingers and two other officers nearby clad in black approched the chariot and stopped.

"Lead them to the gate."

"Yes sir."

The two other officers in black uniform responded in unison. The seeker’s eyes lingered on Luke, he then spoke..

"You are a Dormant hunter?"

Luke stunned at the question, responded, suppressing the visible strain looking at the man caused him.

"Yes sir."

"The man’s eyes narrowed, then he asked another question." "What class?"

Luke’s brain went overboard.

’What class?!’

’What am I supposed to say?’

’Shapeshifter?’

’Swordsman, The Undefeated one? Before he could do any necessary thinking he blurted out, "swords man." The man turned to one of the officers in black then spoke..

"Alice, over here." Alice approached, taking a cautious look at Luke.

’What’s going on?’ Luke asked himself as he knew the officer in white had suspected him for something, but what?

The man in white then spoke..

"Scan his core."

Alice nodded then turned to study Luke’s chest.

’I’ve got a core?

Luke wondered to himself, Alice studied his core then proceeded to Luke at a screen, which Luke already knew was the game’s system.

Having checked it, she glanced at Luke.

’Here we go.’

"The core was recently stabilized sir, he’s a swords man."

Luke heaved a sigh of relief, the officer in white then turned to look at Luke, his expression unreadable, he reached for his pocket and handed an insignia to Luke then spoke..

"Hand this to any of the officers at the entrance of the hunter district, they’ll see you in."

Luke nodded.

Later in the evening Luke had entered the Royal capital, it looked exactly like what he had seen when he was in the Griffin chariot, but closer and with more details. There were shops, residential areas, even gambling dens along with inns, seer tents and taverns.

Luke currently stood in the middle of a large plaza, various citizens were walking about the plaza consistently, all going about their day, what caught his eye the most was a Bell tower that stood in the middle of the district. According to history of the Royal capital that bell was rung when an harbinger class Void creature spawned in the kingdom.

Luke gaze shifted back to the seer tents just ahead. He was meant to go straight to an inn, but he wouldn’t miss an opportunity to find the location of his sisters.
