On that fateful day, the world changed.
Forests and wildernesses that were once safe havens to animals and plants of various kinds had now become hunting grounds for dangerous monsters.
Cities that once stood with order and purpose had now become dungeons lurking with evil monstrosities.
The world changed completely. Its surface restructured from within its core, taking the exact form of the game world Mythos. NPCs that were mere data programs in the game were now existing in the real world.
The old order was no more, replaced by a new one involving the cycle of kingdoms, dungeons, hunters, gates, and the atmosphere of a medieval era.
However, in contrast to all of this, humanity was not totally affected by the change, even though over twenty percent of the world’s population died.
First and foremost, they had been deceived by the upper echelons of Mythos, who claimed that the outcome was never part of their original plan and that they had tried to rescue a huge part of the world from the circumstances.
Secondly, the game Mythos had existed for over twenty full years and the world had grown accustomed to it. Most had turned gaming into their source of income, their way of life, and could not do without it.
So now that the game was becoming real?
A few would oppose it at first. It would feel alien, but eventually they would accept reality and acclimatize to it, since it was not too different from the lives they had previously lived.
Luke stared at the screen, strands of hair falling over his forehead. Once the countdown hit zero, he felt his mind space out, as though dragged by an indomitable force.
The next second, he found himself floating amidst a white expanse of nothingness. He held his head, feeling disoriented from the sudden transportation.
A ball shimmering with various colors appeared before him.
{Welcome to Mythos, Undefeated One. I am Ella, the gaming AI created to oversee the affairs of players in Mythos!}
Luke’s eyes lit up in recognition. He had begun the initial evaluation.
He recognized the AI voice speaking. She was the one that presided over various activities in the game. Her image was used for events, advertisements, updates, sanctions, and warnings.
She was somewhat like Kelly from Free Fire.
{Commencing the Initial Evaluation!}
Ella spoke in her usual welcoming tone.
{Alert.}
Ella’s cheerful automated voice suddenly changed, becoming deeper and more resonant, causing the white expanse itself to vibrate.
{System has detected a pre-allocated unique class and title: "The Undefeated One."}
{Congratulations. "The Undefeated One," your overall evaluation is automatically S+ Grade. To aid the player in quests and missions, the player has been given the title, "I Cannot Be Defeated."}
{A starter kit has been sent to your inventory. Activate your inventory by voicing the command "Open Inventory." Tap the icon for further information regarding your class.}
"An S+ Grade?!"
Luke yelled with a mixture of shock and excitement.
A smile spread across his face.
Overjoyed would be an understatement for the storm of emotions surging through him.
He had heard rumors that even only a few of the top players on the leaderboards had received S+ evaluations when they first entered the game. Even Clara only had an S Grade.
Although he had no idea why he had been given a unique class and title, he was nonetheless excited.
He tapped on the additional information panel.
He slowly read through the contents.
CLASS — THE UNDEFEATED ONE (UNIQUE / TITLE: I CANNOT BE DEFEATED)
The user of this class is granted the ultimate identity of an absolute, unmatched apex predator.
However, this is a complete systemic illusion.
In reality, their baseline physical attributes are just like every one else, meaning they must survive purely on their wits, bluffing capability, rewards, and raw human instincts.
The class is designed to test whether a normal player who is feared and perceived as an invincible being can survive long enough for their physical body to catch up to the myth.
The Quests:
You will perform tasks that a true undefeated tier entity would do, such as entering high level calamity gates or confronting powerful faction leaders, doing the bare minimum necessary to maintain your terrifying reputation without getting turned into paste.
CRITICAL:
The player inheriting this class can never disclose their true level, stats, or the nature of this class to anyone in mythos, You must actively lie about your mechanics when questioned. If your class is discovered without your intervention you are not at fault.
CRITICAL:
Your internal system synchronization monitors your neural activity outside the expanse. Knowingly failing to comply or deliberately leaking information regarding this class structure to anyone will result in immediate DEATH.
CRITICAL:
As a fabled lone deity, you are strictly forbidden from officially joining guilds, parties, or official factions unless explicitly mandated by the system.You must walk the path of the solitary myth.
’What?!’
At first, Luke thought he had read the contents incorrectly. However, the words were precise and straightforward.
He knew exactly what he had seen.
Luke didn’t like the idea of possessing the identity of an unmatched apex predator.
That basically meant he would be in constant danger until he actually became one.
The thought of entering high level calamity void gates made his head spin slightly.
But inwardly, Luke knew he had no choice.
If the system had given him this role, then he would simply have to survive for as long as he could.
Meanwhile, Clara’s POV.
