“Wood Release: Wood Dragon Technique!”
RUMBLE—!
A gigantic wooden dragon erupted from the earth, its savage jaws opening as it charged straight toward the Nine-Tails.
“Wood Release: Wood Golem Technique!”
The Nine-Tails smashed the incoming wooden dragon apart with a single swipe of its claw.
Immediately afterward, a colossal wooden arm rose from the ground.
Then came the rest of the body.
A massive wooden golem nearly a hundred meters tall emerged, radiating an overwhelming pressure.
Standing on its head was a man carrying a huge scroll on his back, his long black hair whipping in the wind.
The First Hokage—
Hashirama Senju!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The wooden giant collided with the Nine-Tails again and again.
There were no dazzling displays of complicated ninjutsu.
No intricate tricks.
Just the raw collision of overwhelming power.
And somehow, that made the battle even more terrifying.
Boulders shattered.
Crater after crater appeared across the ground.
The earth trembled violently.
The surrounding forest looked as though it had been dragged into the end of the world.
“So this is real power…”
Watching the horrifying battle in the distance, Sora’s eyes gradually filled with excitement.
And something bordering on obsession.
He had lived in the Naruto world for an entire century.
Yet because of his sickly body, he had almost never left the Hatake clan compound during the Warring States era.
The outside world had been filled with endless clan warfare, but he had never personally experienced any of it.
At most, he had heard stories.
By the time Konoha was founded, Sora was already an old man.
He spent his days drinking tea, sleeping, and enjoying his lazy retirement.
He rarely even saw ordinary ninja fighting.
Watching battles through an anime screen and witnessing them with his own eyes were completely different things.
Only now did Sora truly understand just how terrifying the strongest beings in this world were.
And at the same time…
A hunger for power awakened inside him.
From several hundred meters away, Sora could only vaguely make out the two gigantic figures.
As for whatever Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha were shouting at each other, he couldn’t hear a damn thing.
Not that he had any intention of moving closer just to eavesdrop.
Without activating the system, he was still an ordinary man who could barely defend himself.
“Still…”
Sora’s eyes narrowed.
“This is also the perfect opportunity to become stronger.”
Hashirama Senju.
Madara Uchiha.
Even the Nine-Tails.
All three stood at the absolute peak of the Naruto world.
If he used the 50/50 System against one of them, the ability it randomly gave him would definitely belong to some absurdly powerful existence.
And if he managed to permanently retain even one useful ability afterward…
His strength would skyrocket.
The excitement in Sora’s eyes deepened.
While dodging chunks of shattered wood and flying rocks, he carefully began moving closer to the battlefield.
Then—
“Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands!”
Hashirama’s Wood Dragon disappeared as he unleashed an even more terrifying technique.
A colossal wooden Buddha appeared.
It towered over the battlefield, countless enormous arms spreading out behind it while its central figure held its hands in a prayer seal.
Opposite it—
“Susanoo!”
Several dozen meters away, the Nine-Tails was suddenly covered in the armor of Madara’s Susanoo.
Its already monstrous aura surged even higher.
Then the two titans charged.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM—!
Countless gigantic wooden palms came crashing down.
The Nine-Tails roared and lunged forward to meet them head-on.
The explosions became almost continuous.
At that exact moment, Sora finally reached the edge of the battlefield.
And both Hashirama and Madara noticed him.
Hashirama frowned.
“Why is someone here?!”
His technique had originally been aimed entirely at Madara.
But the instant he spotted Sora nearby, one of the many giant arms attacking from the right side changed direction to avoid hitting him.
Naturally, that weakened the formation.
Madara’s Sharingan immediately noticed the flaw.
“There.”
Under his control, the Nine-Tails suddenly changed direction and charged toward the Buddha’s right side.
BOOM!
The Nine-Tails smashed through layer after layer of gigantic wooden arms.
Its jaws opened.
A massive black sphere formed between them.
A Tailed Beast Ball.
BOOOOOOM!
The attack slammed directly into the right half of the gigantic wooden Buddha.
A huge section of its body was blown apart.
At the same time, the Nine-Tails surged forward.
Its enormous claw came crashing down toward Hashirama’s head.
Hashirama immediately leapt away.
BANG!
He avoided the claw—
but failed to avoid one of the Nine-Tails’ enormous crimson tails.
The tail, nearly a hundred meters long, smashed directly into his body.
Hashirama shot through the air like a cannonball.
While still flying, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
Sora stared.
“Damn!
The First Hokage got injured?”
“That shouldn’t have happened…”
Then his expression became strange.
“Uh…”
“Wait.”
“I think I just screwed over the First Hokage.”
“Wood Release: Wood Dragon Technique!”
Even while flying backward and injured, Hashirama quickly formed hand seals.
A wooden dragon erupted from the ground.
Before Sora could react, it wrapped around his body and carried him away from the Nine-Tails, placing him a little over ten meters from Hashirama.
Sora froze for a moment.
Even after being injured in the middle of a life-or-death battle…
Hashirama had still thought about saving him.
For some reason, Sora felt genuinely moved.
All he’d been thinking about was using this battle as an opportunity to become stronger.
He had completely forgotten one minor problem.
He hadn’t activated the system yet!
Right now, he was still just an ordinary old man.
If Hashirama hadn’t saved him, the Nine-Tails might have flattened him with one paw.
Hashirama looked over.
Then his eyes widened in recognition.
“You’re…
Elder Hatake Sora!”
A moment later, his surprise became even greater.
“Weren’t you…?”
“How are you alive?”
Hashirama clearly remembered that the Hatake clan had held a funeral not long ago.
And that funeral had been for Hatake Sora.
As far as combat strength went, Sora had always been a complete zero.
Ordinary civilians might not have known who he was.
But the senior members of clans that had survived since the Warring States era certainly did.
The reason was simple.
Everyone from Sora’s generation was already dead.
Even most of the generation after his was gone.
Among the oldest elders of Konoha’s major clans, practically everyone was young enough to call Sora “Grandpa.”
“I was dead.”
Sora shrugged helplessly.
“But then you two smashed my coffin apart.”
“So I thought about it and figured…
why not live a few more years?”
“…”
Hashirama stared at him speechlessly.
Madara’s cold voice suddenly came from the distance.
“So it’s that useless old relic who refuses to die.”
Madara looked at Sora indifferently.
“So what if you’ve come back to life?”
“You entered our battlefield and interfered with our fight.”
“That alone is enough reason for you to die.”
He didn’t even wait for Sora to answer.
Madara’s Sharingan activated.
The Nine-Tails raised an enormous claw and brought it crashing down toward Sora.
Sora’s face changed.
“Damn!”
“He attacks immediately?!”
“Madara really is ruthless.”
For the first time since awakening, Sora felt a trace of genuine fear.
But he’d already put himself in this situation.
There was no backing out now.
He could only bite the bullet.
“System!”
“I’m counting on you!”
Sora stared directly at the Nine-Tails.
Then he silently commanded—
“Activate the 50/50 ability!”
Target locked:
Nine-Tails.
The system’s mechanical voice immediately echoed inside his mind.
