“Wake up already, it’s time to get up, Yu!”

Seeing that he still wanted to roll over and continue sleeping, Mikoto frowned slightly before reaching out to pinch his nose.

Yu slowly opened his eyes before directly pulling Mikoto into his arms.Full novel: Naruto: The Fourth Hokage’s Shadow — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Don’t stop me.

Let This Young Master sleep a little longer.

I haven’t properly rested in two whole years.

Now that I finally have the opportunity, at least let me enjoy one good sleep!”

Mikoto did not struggle at all.

Instead, she obediently leaned her head against his chest.

“Didn’t you say yesterday that you were going to visit Nawaki’s house today?”

The eyes Yu had just closed instantly snapped open again.

“That’s right.

I did promise him.”

After lazing around for quite a while, Yu finally escaped from the terrifying clutches of the Devil King blanket.

Mikoto patiently helped him change clothes before arranging the prepared gifts neatly on the table.

“Alright, now we can leave.”

Yu smiled as he reached out and lightly tapped the bridge of her nose.

“I truly didn’t misjudge you back then.

You really do have the qualities of a virtuous wife and loving mother.”

“Go die!”

Mikoto’s cheeks instantly turned red as memories from their childhood surfaced in her mind.

Back then, the two of them had only been four years old.

Truly only four years old.

Yet this bastard had suddenly pointed at her seriously and declared that she should marry him once they grew up.

Since she had been too young at the time, Mikoto had assumed he was simply joking around, so she casually nodded in agreement.

From that day onward, the two of them had practically done everything together.

They ate together, slept together, trained together, and played together.

Ahem…

of course, except for certain inappropriate things.

“Let’s go!”

The two walked hand in hand through the streets.

Seeing the pair chatting and laughing together, many passersby could not help teasing them.

“Yo, isn’t this little Yu?

You already know how to find yourself a wife at such a young age.

Truly, heroes emerge from the younger generation!”

Mikoto immediately lowered her head shyly.

She instinctively tried pulling her hand away from Yu’s grasp, but Yu held on firmly without giving her any chance to escape.

Yu instead puffed out his chest proudly and looked toward the crowd with an arrogant expression.

“This Young Master simply has good taste.

Unlike you people who only know how to eat fried dough sticks every day.

Can’t you occasionally drink some porridge too?”

“Hahahahaha!”

The entire street burst into laughter.

Some people even began seriously teasing him further.

“One Mikoto is clearly too few.

Kid, do you want another one or two?

My daughter has always admired you quite a bit.

What do you think?”

The crowd instantly erupted into even louder laughter.

Once one person started, everyone else joined in enthusiastically.

By the time the two finally left the Uchiha Clan Compound, Mikoto suddenly looked at him very seriously.

“Yu, you really can do it.”

Yu was instantly stunned by those words.

He even reached out to touch her forehead.

“You don’t have a fever, so why are you suddenly talking nonsense?”

Mikoto shook her head before staring at him earnestly.

“Yu, you will definitely become an extraordinary person in the future.

If this were the Warring States Era, then someone like you would’ve definitely…”

Yu interrupted her before she could finish speaking.

“Don’t continue.”

Mikoto still looked at him stubbornly.

“Yu, I’m being serious.

I truly don’t mind.”

“Alright, alright.

Nobody can predict the future anyway.

We’ll talk about such things later.”

Yu simply pulled her along as they continued walking.

The two chatted and laughed the entire way until they eventually arrived at a large manor.

This was the ancestral residence of the Senju Clan.

Just as they reached the entrance, Nawaki hurriedly opened the door from inside.

The moment he saw them, his eyes immediately lit up.

“Yu!

Mikoto-san!

You’re finally here!

Hurry up and come inside!”

The three entered the manor while chatting casually.

Before they even reached the main hall, a crisp and energetic voice suddenly rang out from nearby.

“Nawaki-niisan, hurry and come taste the rice balls I made!”

The moment he heard that voice, Nawaki’s body visibly trembled.

Without hesitation, he instantly hid behind Yu while muttering quietly to himself.

“You can’t see me.

You definitely can’t see me.”

Very soon, a red-haired little girl around ten years old appeared before them.

She had bright blue eyes, baby-fat cheeks, and fiery red hair.

The moment she noticed guests present, she immediately panicked and hurriedly hid the charred black object behind her back.

“Um…

who are you?”

Nawaki finally poked his head out from behind Yu.

“Hey Kushina, this is Yu, the person I told you about before.”

Kushina’s eyes immediately brightened.

“You’re Uchiha Yu?!

The Phantom Blade Blood Owl from the battlefield?

The person who saved Nawaki-niisan and defeated so many enemy Ninjas and even escaped from the Kazekage?!”

Yu’s expression became rather strange.

Was this girl this talkative when she was young?

Wasn’t her future nickname supposed to be the Red-Hot Habanero?

Why did she currently resemble a nonstop chatterbox instead?

After the introductions were completed and Kushina learned that Mikoto had also fought on the battlefield, she immediately dragged Mikoto away excitedly and started asking endless questions.

The two girls quickly became immersed in cheerful conversation.

Meanwhile, Nawaki quietly looked toward the trash bin after Kushina discarded the blackened object she had hidden earlier.

Only then did he finally let out a long sigh of relief.

“I’m saved.”

Yu glanced toward the charred remains inside the trash bin before turning toward Nawaki sympathetically.

“No wonder your face turns green every time returning home is mentioned.

So this is the reason.”

Nawaki immediately revealed a bitter expression.

Looking toward Mikoto and Kushina laughing together nearby, he sighed emotionally.

“I really envy you.”

Yu immediately puffed out his chest proudly.

“Who do you think This Young Master is?

Could my taste possibly be bad?”

Nawaki immediately looked at him with complete disdain.

Just as he was about to continue mocking him, an elderly servant suddenly approached.

“Young Master Nawaki, Mito-sama wishes to meet your friends.”

A short while later, Yu finally met Nawaki’s grandmother.

The wife of the First Hokage.

The woman who once stood beside the God of Shinobi himself.

Uzumaki Mito.

“Mito-sama.”

“There is no need to be so formal.”

The elderly Mito gently raised her hand, signaling for Yu and Mikoto to sit down.

Her aged eyes quietly observed Yu for a long moment before she slowly nodded.

“What a fine young man.

To possess such powerful chakra at your age, you truly deserve to be called a Genius of the Uchiha Clan.”

Yu modestly shook his head.

“I don’t deserve such praise.

I still have a very long road ahead of me.”

He genuinely meant those words.

After all, compared to monsters like Madara, Hashirama, and the Sage of Six Paths, his current strength was still far from enough.

Mito chuckled softly.

“A young Uchiha like you is truly quite rare.

Back then…”

Her gaze gradually became distant as she seemed to sink into memories from long ago.

She slowly spoke about many events from the Warring States Era.

Nobody interrupted her.

Everyone simply sat quietly and listened.

After a long while, Mito gently sighed.

“When one grows old, one always ends up reminiscing about the past.”

Just as she was about to continue speaking, the Nine-Tails sealed within her suddenly opened its eyes.

Through the seal, Kurama stared directly toward Uchiha Yu outside.

“Hey…

this brat’s aura feels wrong.”

Mito smiled faintly within the seal space.

“What?

Did he remind you of the time you were controlled by that person?”

The Nine-Tails’ enormous eyes widened instantly.

Its breathing became noticeably heavier, though it eventually calmed down and continued staring at Yu carefully.

“This old man feels an extremely familiar aura from that brat.

A very long time ago, I sensed something similar on someone else.

But too much time has passed, and I can’t clearly remember anymore.”

“Oh?”

Mito became even more curious now.

“Is it because he is an Uchiha?”

The Nine-Tails slowly shook its massive head.

“Not entirely.

There is something else mixed within his aura.”

At that moment, Yu suddenly turned his head toward them.

His eyes seemed to penetrate directly through space itself as he looked straight toward the Nine-Tails inside the seal.

“I say, whispering behind someone’s back like that isn’t very polite.”

“This brat!”

Both Mito and the Nine-Tails were startled simultaneously.

The others present were completely confused by the sudden exchange.

They looked toward Mito and then back toward Yu.

“What did you just say?”

Yu casually waved his hand.

“Nothing.

I was merely chatting with a Power Bank.”

Everyone immediately looked at him suspiciously, though nobody continued asking questions.

Mito, however, smiled deeply.

“You truly continue to surprise this old woman.”

That night, Mito stood beneath the moonlight while quietly gazing at the sky.

“Nine-Tails, were the things you said earlier true?”

Inside the seal space, Kurama slowly nodded.

“I cannot possibly mistake that feeling.

This old man has only ever sensed that aura from one person before.”

The expression on Mito’s aged face gradually changed.

After a long silence, she finally let out a sigh.

“Sigh…

if that is truly the case, then I honestly don’t know whether this will become a blessing or a disaster for the Village.”
