The shore erupted with deafening cheers from the Uzumaki shinobi.

They desperately needed this victory.

After suffering repeated surprise attacks, the Uzumaki had been nursing their frustration for a long time.Full novel: Naruto: The Senju Who Refused to Die — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Their overwhelming triumph had finally allowed them to release all that pent-up resentment, leaving everyone in a state of wild excitement.

“Elder Shigure is incredible!” Nagakaze was practically dancing with joy, and the surrounding clansmen naturally overheard him.

“Elder Shigure?” One Uzumaki shinobi looked thoroughly confused.

“Are you saying Elder Shigure arranged all of this?” “Hahaha!

You still haven’t heard?” another clansman explained with a beaming smile.

“Elder Shigure is the Senju Clan’s most formidable elder.

This entire counterattack was his plan!” “Seriously?

He’s that impressive?” “Didn’t you notice how respectfully even our clan leader treats him?

He personally patted me on the shoulder earlier.” The Uzumaki shinobi proudly rubbed the spot as though he had received some tremendous honour.

“Jealous?” “Hmph!

That’s nothing.

Elder Shigure even asked how my parents were doing!” The boast came from the burly Uzumaki shinobi who happened to share Shigure’s given name.

He glanced disdainfully at the others.

“Hey, I spoke to him too!

He told me I should eat more!” “Me too!” “And me!” The Uzumaki shinobi eagerly began discussing the enigmatic Senju elder.

Standing beside Takamasa, Shigure naturally heard every word.

This is the perfect opportunity to make myself famous!

He was extremely pleased by the praise from these juniors.

In an instant, Shigure adopted the serene bearing of a venerable master.

With his hands clasped behind his back, he slowly walked towards the crowd.

The Uzumaki leaders silently indulged him.

After all, his strategy had just delivered a miraculous victory.

“Look!

That’s Elder Shigure, one of the Senju Clan’s most formidable elders!” “I heard he’s already fifty, but he looks so young!” “As expected of a true master!

Even his appearance defies his age!” “I also heard Elder Shigure is a Kage-level powerhouse!” “What?!” Shigure narrowed his eyes slightly and strolled through the crowd, occasionally nodding to the surrounding shinobi like an important dignitary inspecting his troops.

“Greetings, Elder Shigure!” “Mm.” His faint acknowledgement only added to his mysterious air.

“Elder Shigure, your strategy was incredible!” “Mm.” “Elder Shigure—” “Mm.” No matter how enthusiastically the Uzumaki greeted him, Shigure maintained a mild, approachable smile.

Eventually, he completed an entire circuit through the crowd and basked in all their admiration.

Takamasa finally released a relieved sigh.

He’s finally finished showing off.

Elder Shigure truly has astonishingly thick skin… Takamasa shook his head with a helpless smile.

Surely Shigure would restrain himself now that he had received enough praise.

The next moment, however, Takamasa’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

Shigure had already reached the far end of the crowd, but he seemed reluctant to let the moment end.

He abruptly turned around and walked straight back into the gathering.

“Uh… Greetings again, Elder Shigure.” “Mm.” Shigure nodded in satisfaction and moved on to the next clansman.

“Huh?

Why has Elder Shigure come back?” Shigure’s eyes widened when he heard the doubt in the man’s voice.

A trace of displeasure appeared on his face.

“Ahem!

I mean… greetings, Elder Shigure!” “Mm.” “…” “…” The second time Shigure passed through the crowd could still be dismissed as a coincidence.

However, when he clasped his hands behind his back and began strolling through the gathering for a third time, the Uzumaki finally realised that something was wrong.

Does Elder Shigure… enjoy being praised this much?

One Uzumaki shinobi finally understood his objective, and the corner of his mouth began twitching.

It was not only the ordinary clansmen.

Even the Uzumaki leaders had been forced to greet and compliment Shigure several times.

At last, Ryōta saw Shigure approaching him yet again, and his heart sank.

“Well… I still have a few matters to deal with.

Elder Shigure, please excuse me!” Ryōta immediately used the Body Flicker Technique and disappeared..

“Huh?” Shigure shook his head in confusion before turning towards Nagakaze.

Poof!

Before Shigure could reach him, Nagakaze vanished in a cloud of smoke.

Does Nagakaze have urgent business as well?

Shigure felt that Nagakaze’s behaviour was rather impolite.

He then turned his gaze towards Hironari, whose expression had become extremely strained.

“Hironari, my friend!

Come, let’s have a nice long chat.” Poof!

Hironari disappeared without a word.

“Hey!

You’re abandoning me as soon as the battle is over!” Shigure shouted helplessly at the fading clouds of smoke.

“I just rendered an enormous service to your clan, yet you’re leaving without even saying goodbye?” These people had no sense of gratitude whatsoever.

Shigure began searching the crowd for Takamasa.

However, even after walking around the entire gathering, he could not find the Uzumaki clan leader anywhere.

“Elder Shigure, the clan leader returned to the compound quite some time ago…” One Uzumaki shinobi cleaning up the battlefield finally gathered the courage to inform him.

The moment he finished speaking, he hurriedly ran away.

“Why do I feel as though everyone is avoiding me?” Shigure rubbed his chin, feeling that the Uzumaki were behaving far too outrageously.

After returning to the Uzumaki compound, he followed several winding paths before finally reaching the Senju detachment’s quarters.

The moment the Senju shinobi saw Elder Shigure approaching, they scattered in every direction as though the plague itself had arrived.

Within the blink of an eye, Shigure was left standing alone in the spacious courtyard.

“Damn it!

I’m your elder!

What are all of you running from?” After shouting angrily at his fleeing clansmen, Shigure stormed back into his room.

It appears I’ll have to properly educate these clan juniors in the future!

Then he suddenly remembered something.

That’s right—the World Points!

The thought of the eighty World Points he had just received immediately swept away Shigure’s frustration.

His heart began pounding with excitement.
