“Yoru, Yoru, what’s wrong with you? The teacher’s calling you!”
His arm was poked hard, twice, and Uchiha Yoru snapped back to reality.
He looked at the group of kids in strange clothes around him, then at the scribbled words on the blackboard, and his face went dark in an instant.
His head was still buzzing.
One second ago he’d been working overtime at his desk, sorting through spreadsheets; the next, he’d closed his eyes, opened them, and everything around him had changed.
A flood of memories rushed into his mind, and he froze.
The world of Naruto?
Konoha?
The Ninja Academy?
And the most fatal part of all — his name was Uchiha Yoru.
Damn it!
Thinking of that legendary “my foolish little brother” devoted big brother, Uchiha Itachi — the one who, a few years from now, would take a blade and cut down the entire Uchiha compound — Yoru felt a stab of pain in his gut.
Other transmigrators at least get a grace period.
This rotten luck handed him a death sentence right out of the gate!
Once Uchiha Sasuke graduated, not even the dogs at the gate of the Uchiha compound would make it out alive!
Why is the world so unfair to me?!
Just as Yoru was sinking into despair, a crisp ding rang out in his mind.
[Emotional Damage System successfully bound.]
[System Explanation: As long as you shatter another person’s emotional defenses and provoke strong emotional turmoil in them, you will gain Emotional Damage Points.
Emotional Damage Points can be spent on lottery pull in the system store — 1,000 points per pull, with a guaranteed premium reward every ten pull.]
Yoru was stunned.
Then, slowly, his eyes lit up.
Messing with other people’s heads?
That was his specialty!
“Yoru! Why are you spacing out? The teacher’s staring right at you!”
The spiky-haired boy with the goggles beside him whispered urgently.
Yoru turned to look.
Uchiha Obito.
His deskmate and childhood friend.
Up at the podium, that no-name Chunin teacher already looked out of patience.
“Uchiha Yoru, it’s your turn to introduce yourself. What are you dawdling for down there?”
Yoru stood up and spoke with total conviction.
“My name is Uchiha Yoru. My hobby is watching people who can’t stand me but can’t do a thing about it. My dream is to live until I die of old age. That’s all.”
The whole class was dumbfounded.
Up at the podium, the Chunin teacher’s eye twitched.
What on earth was this?
[Emotional Damage Points from Chunin Teacher, +66!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Sarutobi Asuma, +33!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Yuhi Kurenai, +12!]
…
Listening to the scattered notifications going off in his mind, Yoru was pleased.
It really worked!
But the points were a little low.
He sat back down.
Obito leaned over and mumbled, “Yoru, why are you acting so weird today?”
Yoru ignored him — but out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Obito stealing absent-minded glances toward the window.
Yoru followed his gaze.
It landed on a cute girl with short brown hair and purple markings painted on her cheeks.
Rin Nohara.
Yoru leaned in toward Obito’s ear.
“Obito, what are you looking at?”
Obito jumped, his face flushing red all the way to the tips of his ears, and he stammered.
“N-nothing. I wasn’t looking at anything.”
“That girl… it’ll be her turn to introduce herself soon, so I was just… curious what her name is.”
Yoru looked at Obito’s innocent, boyish face and scoffed inwardly.
This silly kid — he’d been head over heels from the very first time he laid eyes on Rin Nohara.
“You want to know her name?”
Yoru raised an eyebrow.
“Huh? Um…” Obito nodded bashfully.
“Leave it to me.”
Yoru patted his own chest, the picture of righteousness.
“I’ll go ask her for you right now.”
Obito’s head snapped around, his eyes shining with emotion.
“Eh? Really? Yoru, you’re such a great friend! Thank you!”
The moment the words left his mouth, Obito realized something was off.
“Wait — we’re still in class…”
Yoru completely ignored Obito’s protest.
He shot to his feet and, under the startled stares of the whole classroom, strode out of his seat and walked straight toward Rin Nohara.
“Uchiha Yoru! Where do you think you’re going?!”
Up at the podium, the Chunin teacher had just called on the next student — and seeing Yoru get up and move, he was livid.
Yoru turned a deaf ear.
He came to a stop in front of Rin Nohara’s desk.
Rin had just been getting ready to stand and introduce herself.
Seeing Yoru bearing down on her, she froze in place, at a complete loss.
Yoru tilted his head down slightly, looking at her.
The classroom was dead silent.
In the back row, Obito craned his neck, swallowed nervously, and prayed under his breath: Yoru’s such a stand-up guy — truly worthy of being my brother!
The next second —
Yoru suddenly raised his right hand and, with a bang, planted it on the wall beside Rin’s seat.
The motion was blindingly fast, kicking up a gust of wind.
A textbook wall slam!
Rin was trapped between Yoru’s arm and the wall, her face mere inches from his.
She could even feel the warmth of his breath, and her whole body went rigid.
The entire class turned to stone.
What in the world was this guy doing?!
Yoru stared straight into Rin’s eyes, a curl at the corner of his mouth that he thought looked devilishly charming, and said in a deliberately lowered voice:
“Beautiful lady — might I have your name?”
Time seemed to stop.
A few seconds later, Yoru’s mind exploded.
[Emotional Damage Points from Rin Nohara, +666!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Chunin Teacher, +888!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Might Guy, +300!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Sarutobi Asuma, +450!]
But all of these notifications were drowned out by a single golden message:
[Emotional Damage Points from Uchiha Obito, +999!!!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Uchiha Obito, +999!!!]
[Emotional Damage Points from Uchiha Obito, +999!!!]
The Emotional Damage Points were flooding the screen like crazy.
In his seat at the back, Obito was gripping the edge of his desk with both hands, his mouth open wide enough to fit an apple, his eyes bulging out of his head.
What had he just heard?
What had he just seen?
That was his brother!
That was the girl he had a crush on!
Whatever happened to “asking for her name for me”?!
You actually walked up and wall-slammed her?!
In that moment, Obito felt like his head had lit up glowing green, and his whole world came crashing down.
Listening to the “+999″s pouring down like a rainstorm in his mind, Yoru could barely keep himself from laughing out loud.
This haul was way too juicy!
Obito really was the ultimate pure-hearted simp of the Uchiha clan — his capacity for emotional detonation was downright terrifying.
In just a few seconds, Yoru’s account balance had shot up past 5,000 points!
“Heh heh…” Looking at the panic on Rin’s face, his head full of images of system lottery pull, Yoru couldn’t help but chuckle.
In the silent classroom, that laugh sounded exceptionally…
creepy.
Rin shrank back into the corner in fear.
What was wrong with this person?
Not only was his behavior bizarre — his laugh was downright unsettling!
From behind, Obito watched Yoru wall-slam Rin and let out that weird “heh heh,” and his mind shattered completely.
“Yoru!!!”
Obito let out a shrill scream and scrambled out of his seat.
Just then, the system notification sounded again.
[Ding!
The host now has 5,000 Emotional Damage Points.
