“No!” Yoru shouted in his head without a moment’s hesitation.

Five thousand points looked like a lot, but this gacha business ran deep.

A single draw empties your wallet, a ten-draw ruins your life, and a gacha with no pity system is nothing but a tax on the foolish.Full novel: Naruto: The Strongest Troll of Konoha — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yoru took a deep breath.

The bitter lessons of his past life—countless days and nights spent grinding and burning money without ever glimpsing so much as a single strand of an SSR’s hair—were still fresh in his memory.

His head was crystal clear right now: the ten-draw pity system at ten thousand points was the only thing that could change this body’s fate.

At the thought of ten thousand points, Yoru’s mind filled with glorious plans for the future.

Without realizing it, a thin trickle of excited drool slipped from the corner of his mouth.

*Slurp.*

He instinctively sucked the saliva back in.

Normally, that sound would’ve been nothing.

But what kind of moment was this?

The whole class was dead silent!

You could’ve heard a pin drop.

That “slurp” was amplified a thousandfold in the quiet classroom, drilling straight into everyone’s ears.

Huddled in the corner, Rin felt utterly numb.

She’d already written this guy off as mentally ill.

Now, hearing that sound, she slid a little further down the wall.

Several girls in the front row broke out in goosebumps on the spot.

The way the surrounding classmates looked at Yoru shifted completely—straight from “looking at an idiot” to “looking at a pervert.”

[Emotional Damage Points from Asuma Sarutobi, +50!]

[Emotional Damage Points from Kurenai Yuhi, +50!]

“Yoru!”

With a shrill, cracking scream, Obito came scrambling over.

His mind was a total mess, one single thought left in it: he could not let this guy keep making a fool of himself in front of Rin!

Obito grabbed the back of Yoru’s collar and, whether Yoru liked it or not, hauled him back to their seats with all his strength.

“I’m sorry! I’m really sorry!”

He dragged Yoru along while bowing frantically to the classmates around them.

Facing Rin’s direction especially, his hedgehog-spiky hair was practically leaving afterimages from how hard he was bowing.

“Yoru didn’t sleep well last night! He’s not thinking straight! He’s really not a pervert!”

Between bows, Obito didn’t forget to sneak glances at Rin.

Once he’d confirmed she didn’t hate him over this, his face flushed bright red all the way down to his neck.

Dragged back into his seat, Yoru smoothed the wrinkles out of his shirt, looking perfectly composed.

Up at the podium, the Chunin instructor’s face was livid, purple with rage, his chest heaving.

It was the first day of school, and he really didn’t want to make too big a scene.

He rapped the blackboard hard, and chalk dust rained down.

“Quiet, all of you! The circus ends here!”

The instructor forced the classroom back into order and picked up the attendance book.

“Anyone who hasn’t finished introducing themselves can wait until after class. Now—class begins! Today we’ll be covering the force analysis of throwing ninja tools.”

His voice turned flat and droning.

Yoru sat in the back row, chin propped on one hand, not taking in a single word.

Force analysis?

Was that stuff going to stop Uchiha Itachi’s blade?

Right now his mind was fixed on one goal alone: rack up ten thousand Emotional Damage Points.

He was still a few thousand short.

Yoru’s gaze started sweeping the classroom.

The points ordinary classmates coughed up were too low—a few dozen at a time.

The efficiency was just too slow.

If he wanted to farm points fast, he needed high-value prey: big emotional swings, strong egos.

Soon his eyes cut through the crowd and locked onto the back of a white-haired boy’s head in the front row.

Kakashi Hatake.

This kid was the prodigy of the class—barely any age on him, yet he wore a mask all day just to look cool.

The little pack of fangirls circling him practically had hearts in their eyes.

More importantly, this guy kept up that cold, aloof, “stay away from me” air all the time—the kind that was just begging to get punched.

Cold and aloof?

Yoru sneered inwardly.

There was no defense in this world he couldn’t break!

Yoru casually tore a corner off his notebook and crumpled it into a little paper ball.

He took aim, braced his thumb against his index finger, and flicked.

The paper ball traced a perfect arc through the air.

It sailed over the heads of several classmates and struck Kakashi square in the back of his silver-white head.

*Tap.*

The sound wasn’t loud, but in the quiet of the front row it was crystal clear.

Kakashi’s body went still for a second.

He slowly turned his head, those iconic dead-fish eyes fixing on Yoru in the back row without a flicker of emotion.

The two stared each other down across the room.

The classmates nearby all sucked in a breath.

Had Yoru taken crazy pills today?

He’d just harassed Rin, and now he was picking a fight with Kakashi, the top student?

Was he tired of living?

Meeting Kakashi’s icy stare, Yoru didn’t panic in the slightest.

He put on an expression of the deepest, most heartfelt concern.

Leaning his upper body forward a little, he asked in a breathy voice pitched so the whole class could hear it clearly:

“Kakashi-kun, you wear that mask every single day—is it because you’ve got some unmentionable hemorrhoid growing next to your mouth?”

Silence.

Dead silence.

The instructor at the podium stopped writing.

The girls in the front row clapped their hands over their mouths.

Kakashi’s dead-fish eyes, usually without a single ripple, went visibly wide.

The veins on his forehead twitched violently, twice, and his once-formidable aura collapsed into chaos on the spot.

Hemorrhoids?

On his mouth?!

[Emotional Damage Points from Kakashi Hatake, +444!]

[Emotional Damage Points from Kakashi Hatake, +222!]

The rush of incoming points rang out at once in Yoru’s mind—the rate at which geniuses dropped loot really was on another level!

Just as the murder was rising in Kakashi’s eyes, Might Guy shot to his feet beside him.

“Unforgivable!”

Guy clenched his fists, his thick eyebrows bristling, and roared at Yoru across the room.

“How dare you use such vile words to insult my eternal rival! This is a desecration of youth itself!”

“Uchiha Yoru—after school, you and I will settle this with a manly duel, the kind where we sweat it out!”

The entire class’s attention snapped to Guy.

Yoru looked at this thick-browed guy with the bowl cut and the green bodysuit, rolled his eyes, and leaned back lazily in his chair.

“I refuse.”

His voice was utterly flat.

“Are you afraid you’ll lose?!”

Guy shot back at the top of his lungs.

“No.” Yoru shook his head, looking thoroughly revolted.

“Catching hemorrhoids is a minor problem. But if I caught that bowl cut and that green-bodysuit sense of fashion off you, my whole life would be ruined.”

The classroom crashed into dead silence again.

Every eye flicked back and forth between Guy’s bowl cut and Yoru’s face.

[Emotional Damage Points from Might Guy, +233!]

[Emotional Damage Points from Might Guy, +111!]

Guy froze where he stood, looked down at his beloved green training suit, then reached up to touch his hair.

He visibly wilted, as though his soul had taken a devastating hit.

Two major hotshots provoked back to back—the Chunin instructor at the podium could take no more.

“Uchiha Yoru!!!”

The roar set the windowpanes humming.

The chalk in his hand crumbled to bits, white powder sifting through his fingers.

The instructor snatched up the chalk-dusted hardwood eraser from the podium and snapped his wrist.

This was solid, Chunin-grade wrist strength.

The eraser left his hand with a whistling shriek, hurtling toward Yoru’s face like a thrown kunai.

“Get out and go stand in the hallway!”

It was blindingly fast.

The whole class held its breath—if that thing landed, he’d be disfigured for sure.

Yoru sat in his chair, in no hurry at all.

The eraser swelled larger and larger in his vision, and he didn’t so much as blink.

Just as it was about to smash into his face, Yoru’s right hand shot out and clamped precisely onto the back of Obito’s collar.

At that very moment Obito was off in his own world, his head full of how he’d explain everything to Rin after class.

Caught completely off guard, an irresistible force yanked at his neck.

He lost his balance and was hauled to the left—sliding perfectly into place right in front of Yoru.
