Yuto did not head straight to the orphanage.
Instead, he went to the clan’s general store.
As Konoha’s largest clan, the Uchiha clan compound was practically a miniature version of Konoha.
It had residential areas, commercial areas, and in the past, it had even had its own ninja school.
Before Tobirama Senju established the Ninja Academy, the children of the Uchiha clan had studied at that ninja school.
However, after the Ninja Academy was founded, the clan’s own school slowly fell out of use.
Similar ninja schools had existed in the Senju compound as well.
Tobirama Senju may have been a genius, but his policies had not simply appeared out of nowhere.
Naturally, the owner of the general store in the Uchiha compound was also an Uchiha.
However, the general store owner had not awakened the Sharingan.
After Indra’s bloodline had been diluted for over a thousand years, not every member of the Uchiha clan could awaken the Sharingan.
Many Uchiha spent nearly their entire lives as genin without awakening it.
They retired early and took up other work.
The general store owner in front of them was one such person.
Yuto had heard that the man had once been classmates with Hiruzen Sarutobi.
The moment the owner saw Yuto, he greeted him warmly.
“Yuto, haven’t seen you in a while.
The usual three?”
Only after saying that did the owner notice Shisui standing beside him.
He immediately said respectfully,
“Good day, Master Shisui.”
The owner’s respect did not come from Shisui having especially noble blood.
It came from the Uchiha clan’s culture of worshiping the strong.
In terms of seniority, the owner was almost of Shisui’s grandfather’s generation.
Calling Shisui “Lord” would be too much, so “Master Shisui” was the safest polite form.
Shisui quickly returned the greeting.
“Good day.
Please, you don’t need to be so respectful.”
The owner smiled without saying anything.
He turned and went into the store’s storage room.
Before long, he came out pushing a small cart.
Inside the cart were large bags of rice and flour, along with cooking oil.
“Yuto, I’ll leave the cart here.
If you need it, you can take it with you.”
“Otherwise, carrying all this by yourself would be too much work.”
Yuto appreciated the owner’s kindness.
If Shisui had not been there, he probably would have pushed the cart to the orphanage.
But now, each of them carrying one bag of rice or flour was a small matter for ninja.
Yuto smiled and politely declined the owner’s offer.
After paying, he lifted a bag of rice with one hand and hoisted it onto his shoulder.
Shisui tacitly picked up the bag of flour.
“Do you bring this much every time you go to the orphanage?” Shisui could not help asking.
Yuto shrugged.
“The children are growing.
They eat a lot.”
Shisui fell silent for a moment, then suddenly said in a low voice,
“I was too arrogant before.
If I had been stronger, you and Tsukimi would not have been hurt.”
Yuto glanced at Shisui.
Although Tsukimi getting hurt had not been his intention, he was still very grateful that Shisui had nearly helped him accomplish his goal of dying.
Yuto only hoped that once he reached the battlefield, he would have a superior as confident as Shisui, someone who could lead him straight to his death.
The two walked through Konoha’s streets, and their surroundings gradually became more desolate.
Unlike the Uchiha compound, which was located near the center of Konoha, the orphanage had been placed in a remote corner of the village where few people came.
Of course, after the Nine-Tails attack, the Uchiha compound would also be tossed into a corner.
At that point, no one would have the right to laugh at anyone else.
When they arrived at the orphanage entrance, Yuto did not see the welcoming scene he had imagined.
Instead, he saw someone unexpected.
Even though Yuto had never seen this person since transmigrating, he recognized him at a glance.
Shimura Danzo.
At that moment, Shimura Danzo seemed to be saying something that put Nono in a difficult position.
Nono looked troubled.
The children were hiding behind several nuns, looking terrified of that old man Danzo.
Yuto thought back to Naruto’s plot.
Nono had once worked for Danzo for a period of time, then for some unknown reason had left Root.
Perhaps because of that, Danzo later invented the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal to prevent members from leaving again.
Nono was extremely capable, so of course Danzo was unwilling to lose such a useful subordinate.
Later, after the Third Shinobi War, the village lacked funds, and the orphanage’s funding decreased more and more.
With no other choice, Nono returned to her old work and helped Danzo again as a spy.
At this point in time, Danzo was probably harassing Nono again.
Seeing this, Yuto frowned and strode forward.
He stepped in front of Nono, placing himself between her and Danzo without even sparing the man a glance.
“Big Sis Nono, I’m here.
Should I put the rice and flour in the storage room?”
Only after saying that did Yuto turn to look at Danzo.
He sized him up and down, then said disdainfully,
“Old man, who are you?
Don’t stand here blocking the way.”
Seeing this, Nono truly thought Yuto did not know Danzo.
She hurriedly grabbed Yuto’s arm and said,
“Yuto, this is Lord Danzo.
He is one of Konoha’s top officials.
Don’t be so rude.”
Shisui also knew Danzo and his position.
He quickly greeted him.
“Lord Danzo.”
After that, he gave Yuto a look, signaling him to hurry up and bow to Danzo.
If the person in front of him had been Hiruzen Sarutobi, Yuto might have let it go.
But facing Danzo, he had no goodwill at all.
He pretended to think for a long time, then said,
“Danzo?
Who’s that?
Some stray dog off the street?”
Danzo suppressed his anger.
If Shisui had not been present, Danzo would definitely have acted immediately to teach Yuto a lesson, perhaps even kill him.
But Danzo had always wanted to recruit Shisui under his command.
Since he currently had very few Sharingan, he especially wanted Shisui’s three-tomoe eyes.
Danzo narrowed his single eye, his gloomy gaze sweeping over Yuto.
“Uchiha brat, I am the Hokage’s advisor.”
Yuto put on a look of surprise, but his tone remained full of sarcasm.
“Oh, the Hokage’s advisor.
Then why are you here?
Did you come to donate money to the orphanage?”
Danzo’s face darkened like iron, and ruthlessness flashed in his single eye.
He gripped his cane tightly, his knuckles whitening from the force, yet in the end he could not refute Yuto’s mockery.
After all, Danzo truly did not have much money right now.
Root would only receive a large amount of funding after Minato’s death.
That was when the Third Hokage loosened his restrictions on Root in order to respond to possible attacks on Konoha.
“Hmph.
An ignorant brat who doesn’t know his place…”
He coldly threw down that sentence and turned to leave.
When he passed Shisui, he deliberately paused and lowered his voice.
“Young Uchiha, you should learn to distinguish who truly serves as Konoha’s pillar.”
Only after Danzo’s figure disappeared around the street corner did Nono let out a long breath.
She looked at Yuto with worry.
“You should not have angered him…”
Even Shisui advised,
“She’s right, Yuto.
Lord Danzo hasn’t gone far yet.
Hurry and catch up to apologize.”
Yuto refused to commit either way.
Instead, he said mysteriously,
“Do you know why Danzo has always claimed he has no interest in marriage?”
The two of them shook their heads at the same time.
“Because his type is young.
Younger than Obito.”
“Now do you understand why I refused to show Danzo respect?”
The corner of Yuto’s mouth curled slightly.
He felt no guilt at all about starting a nasty rumor about Danzo.
