Yuto’s words shocked Nono deeply.
In her impression, Danzo had always wanted to summon her back to Root to carry out spy missions.
But after hearing Yuto’s claim about Danzo’s tastes, she suddenly had a strange thought.
Was the real reason Danzo wanted her back because of the orphanage?
Nono turned her head and glanced at the children, who had regained their energy.
In terms of age, these children seemed to match what Yuto had said all too well.
If Yuto was right, then she absolutely could not return to Root.
Once she left, the children at the orphanage would be in danger.
Shisui reacted the same way.
His eyes widened.
In his impression, Danzo had always seemed like a respected elder.
How could he do something like that?
But in Shisui’s eyes, Yuto was someone who protected the village and his comrades with his life.
He probably would not lie.
Just as Shisui wanted to confirm it further, Yuto had already walked into the orphanage with the bag of rice on his shoulder.
With no other choice, Shisui followed.
Walking ahead, the corner of Yuto’s mouth curled slightly.
The seeds of suspicion had already been planted in both of them.
This time, Danzo probably would not be able to fool them so easily.
Although Danzo had nothing to do with Yuto’s plan to die, Yuto’s natural dislike for him made him unconsciously disrupt the man’s schemes.
Besides, to Yuto, Shisui and Nono were already his friends.
Yuto gently placed the rice bag in the corner of the storage room.
The moment he turned around, he was surrounded by a group of children.
They looked up at him and called out “Big Brother Yuto” all at once.
A girl with pigtails even grabbed his sleeve and shook it.
“Did you bring candy this time?”
Yuto crouched down and, as if performing a magic trick, pulled a handful of colorful fruit candies from his ninja pouch.
The children immediately cheered.
Shisui stood to the side, holding the flour bag with obvious awkwardness.
A little boy timidly approached and stared at the Konoha symbol on his forehead protector.
“Big brother, a-are you a ninja too?”
Shisui quickly nodded, but he did not know what to say.
In the end, he stiffly pulled a kunai from his pocket and clumsily spun it in a little trick.
The children surrounded him with cries of “wow,” and the tips of his ears turned red as he awkwardly dealt with their requests to do it again.
Nono leaned against the doorframe and watched the two of them surrounded by children.
She gently pushed up her glasses to hide her smile.
Seeing Shisui’s clumsy but gentle manner, Yuto could not help laughing.
He rubbed the pigtail girl’s hair and said softly,
“Next time, Big Brother will bring even more candy.”
Nono stepped forward and gently reminded the children,
“It’s time to prepare lunch.”
The children reluctantly scattered, though they still looked back from time to time.
Yuto patted Shisui on the shoulder and said quietly,
“Looks like you’re pretty popular.”
Shisui scratched his head and gave a shy smile.
He watched the children run off happily, and something stirred in his chest.
He thought of Yuto’s back as he had charged into danger without hesitation, then compared it to himself, always hesitating between the clan and the village.
Without realizing it, Shisui tightened his grip on the kunai in his hand.
It seemed he was nowhere near as free as Yuto.
At the gate of the clan compound, Yuto said goodbye to Shisui.
Their homes were not in the same place.
Although both were in residential areas, Yuto was an unknown ninja, and his parents certainly could not have afforded a large house.
Because of that, Yuto’s home was basically part of the common residential area.
Shisui was different.
His grandfather, Kagami Uchiha, had once been one of Konoha’s elders, on the same level as the current Grand Elder and Fugaku.
Unlike the Hyuga, the Uchiha clan did not have a main family and branch family system.
Instead, the Uchiha were divided into six major bloodlines.
The Grand Elder was the leader of the first bloodline, while Fugaku was the leader of the third.
Even if Fugaku had not become clan head, he could still have become the Third Elder.
The selection of the Uchiha clan head was somewhat like the electors of the Holy Roman Empire.
Whichever bloodline was strongest at the time might produce clan heads for several generations in a row, just as Tajima Uchiha had passed the position of clan head to Madara Uchiha.
In this regard, the Uchiha clan did indeed have an advantage over the Hyuga.
After all, once someone in the Hyuga entered the branch family, all of their descendants would also be branch family members.
There was no chance to rise again.
Yuto pushed open his front door.
Just like that night, the Grand Elder was sitting beside the table in the living room, with freshly brewed tea at his side.
The Grand Elder lifted his teacup and took a sip, his gaze falling on Yuto’s bandaged arm.
“How are your injuries recovering?
I heard you nearly had a lung pierced by a Kumogakure spy’s Lightning Release.”
His tone was flat, but there was a trace of concern hidden within it.
Yuto assumed the Grand Elder had come specifically to thank him because he had saved Tsukimi’s life, so he did not think too much of it.
He shrugged carelessly.
“Just a small injury.
That guy’s Lightning Release was pretty exciting, though.”
“Nonsense!”
The Grand Elder suddenly set his teacup heavily on the table.
“How do you think ninja died during the Warring States Period?
By being reckless like you.”
He stood up.
“Starting tomorrow, I will personally teach you.”
Yuto’s eyes widened.
The old man was the Uchiha Grand Elder.
Why would he suddenly offer to train him?
The thing he feared most was training.
Right now, he already had the ability to kill a chunin.
If he were trained by the Grand Elder, a jonin from the Warring States Period, then what?
Would he be able to kill jonin with his own hands?
At that point, how many people in the shinobi world would still be able to kill him?
Surely he, Yuto Uchiha, could not go around the entire world provoking Kage-level experts.
A strained smile appeared on Yuto’s face.
“Grand Elder, you’re joking, right?”
“Why would I need to trouble you for guidance?
I can train by myself…”
The Grand Elder snorted coldly, a sharp light flashing in his eyes.
“Do you think I am asking for your opinion?”
He stood, his cane striking the floor with a heavy thump.
“Look at yourself.
You do not know a single proper ninjutsu and only know how to gamble with your life.
You have thrown away the Uchiha clan’s dignity.”
Yuto ducked his head and was just about to argue a little more when the Grand Elder suddenly formed hand seals.
Three-tomoe Sharingan slowly turned within his aged eyes.
“Thirty years ago, I watched seven brothers die through these eyes.
Do you think risking your life is glorious?”
He grabbed Yuto by the collar, his voice hoarse like sandpaper.
“A useless survivor is ten thousand times more useful than a dead hero.”
The Grand Elder released him.
“Tomorrow morning at five, Naka Shrine.
If you are one minute late, I will let you experience what Warring States-era special training means.”
With that, the Grand Elder turned and left.
Yuto watched the Grand Elder leave and screamed wildly in his heart.
If the old man really trained him into an elite ninja, how was he supposed to die reasonably in the future?
If his strength increased, how was he supposed to scam the insurance money?
Would he have to challenge a tailed beast one-on-one just to die?
Thinking that he might be forced to slaughter his way across the battlefield in the future, Yuto’s vision went dark.
“I’m finished.
The hundred million in compensation and my life of obscene luxury in my old world are getting farther and farther away!”
