Yuto was deeply disappointed.

Because the requirements for receiving compensation demanded that he go all out, he had been forced to hide himself with every ounce of effort while gathering material last night.

Originally, he had secretly thought that since he was only a genin, some female shinobi would definitely spot his terrible hiding skills.

But to his surprise, he had gathered material until late at night, all the way until the bathhouse closed, and not a single person had noticed him.

In the end, he had been forced to obtain a massive amount of material.

With his head full of indecent, too-vivid images, Yuto lay on his small bed, utterly speechless.

So annoying.

Another day of failing to die.

He muttered to himself, reviewing the recent events that might have killed him but had not.

“Lightning strike.

Left one step too early, survived just fine.”

“Coup.

The hawks were scared stiff.

Total waste of effort.”

“Assassination.

Pure overthinking.

That one doesn’t count.”

“Spy.

He was so weak it hurt.

No challenge at all.”

“Gathering material.

Apparently, the female shinobi had no situational awareness at all.

Failed again.”

Yuto felt like his life was losing all hope.

In just two days, he had tried five times to scam the compensation money, yet not one attempt had succeeded.

The closest he had come was the least reliable accident of them all.

“If only the shinobi war would start right now.

On the battlefield, I should be able to die smoothly…”

Konoha Police Force.

Sitting at his desk, Fugaku looked at the report his secretary had brought him, his brows tightly furrowed.

His fingers tapped the tabletop unconsciously.

The report listed the number of spies discovered by patrol teams over the past few days.

It had increased by dozens of times compared to normal.

And that did not include foreign village spies who had already succeeded in hiding themselves.

In truth, the spies they had discovered were all small fry.

Most of them were around chunin level, and their skills were not refined enough to cause any major damage to the village.

The real problem was the spies who had successfully hidden themselves.

Their strength varied, but they were skilled at disguise, infiltration, and gathering intelligence.

If they were allowed to take root in Konoha, they would definitely cause serious trouble.

All members of the Police Force had already been sent out on patrol, and manpower was stretched thin.

At the moment, Fugaku simply could not spare many people to capture spies.

Looking at the report gave him a terrible headache.

“Who should I send to catch spies…”

He pulled out the Uchiha clan roster.

After thinking carefully, he turned to Yuto’s page.

“Sigh.

Yuto, it looks like I will have to trouble you again.”

“However, Yuto’s strength is rather poor.

I need to assign him two reliable teammates.”

“Shisui can be one.

That child is very dependable.

Having him accompany Yuto should work.”

“As for the other one…

who should it be?”

Just then, someone knocked on the office door.

After receiving Fugaku’s permission, a long-haired Uchiha girl pushed the door open and entered.

She stood respectfully in front of the desk.

“Clan Head, Grandpa asked me to come help at the Police Force.”

When Fugaku heard her mention her grandfather, he looked up in confusion, shifting his gaze from the roster to the girl.

Once he recognized her, suspicion rose in his heart.

Wasn’t Tsukimi Uchiha the Grand Elder’s granddaughter?

Why would she join the Police Force?

Allowing some hawk faction members into the Police Force had already been that old man’s limit.

So why was he throwing his own granddaughter in now?

Tsukimi actually did not particularly want to join the Police Force.

With her strength, she could earn more money by leaving the village and taking missions.

Joining the Police Force meant she could only receive a meager salary.

But lately, Grandpa had apparently gotten some strange idea into his head and suddenly wanted her to join.

Last night, he had even spent the entire evening trying to talk her into it.

She could not argue him down, so she had no choice but to agree.

There was one thing she cared about.

Last night, Grandpa had said she should get closer to Yuto.

Right now, she did not want to get close to him at all.

That day, she had kindly made him dinner, yet not only had he failed to appreciate it, he had described their relationship as merely knowing each other.

That guy had no conscience.

No matter what, she had gone out of her way to make him dinner.

He should have been properly grateful.

Treating her as a good friend would have been fine too.

But just someone he knew?

What was that supposed to mean, idiot Yuto?

Looking at Tsukimi Uchiha in front of him, Fugaku suddenly had a bold idea.

Could he turn the granddaughter of the hawk faction leader into a dove too?

As it happened, Yuto’s team currently had only Shisui and Yuto himself.

Adding a girl would make it a proper three-person team.

Fugaku felt that with Shisui’s ability, guiding two people should be more than manageable.

Besides, both Shisui and Yuto were deeply loyal to the village.

After the three of them spent a long time together, he believed this girl Tsukimi would also change her way of thinking.

At that thought, the stern expression on Fugaku’s face turned into a gentle smile.

“Tsukimi, do you have any requests regarding the specific work you will be doing?”

Tsukimi thought about it.

Police Force work was probably not as dangerous as the missions she could take herself, so she should be capable of handling just about anything.

“Clan Head, anything is fine.”

“Good…”

A calculating smile tugged at the corner of Fugaku’s mouth.

Tsukimi accepted the assignment letter he handed her.

She glanced over it briefly, and her expression became somewhat unnatural.

She had not expected him to assign her to the same team as Yuto.

She had only given Yuto the cold shoulder two days ago.

How was she supposed to get along with him after this?

The team atmosphere would definitely be terrible.

If the atmosphere was terrible, work would not go well either.

Every day would be barely tolerable.

She might as well take missions on her own.

Life was not easy.

Tsukimi sighed.

Noticing the changes in her expression, Fugaku felt puzzled.

What was wrong with this girl?

Ever since she received the assignment letter, she had looked conflicted.

“What is it, Tsukimi?

Are you dissatisfied with the arrangement?”

She quickly shook her head.

She had just said any job was fine.

If she changed her answer now, would that not make her someone who talked big?

The Uchiha clan had always been proud, and she was the Grand Elder’s granddaughter on top of that.

She absolutely could not do something so fickle.

Otherwise, if word got out, who knew what people would whisper about her behind her back?

Tsukimi sighed.

“It’s fine, Clan Head.

This work is good…”

“If there is nothing else, I will leave first.”

Fugaku nodded.

Tsukimi put away the assignment letter and left the Police Force.

As she walked down the road, she looked up at the sky, her brain running so fast it nearly overheated.

“What am I supposed to do about this…”

“It’s all Grandpa’s fault.

Taking missions to earn money was perfectly fine.

Why did he have to throw me into this Police Force fire pit?”
