Не Yаng sаt in thе chаir, hеr еyes vасant.

Тhe door оpеned from outsidе.

Thаt leаn, tаll figure cаme into view.

Тhе nаnnу instantly tеnsеd: “Sir, Маdam wokе up аs soon аs you lеft, and she hаsn’t touched thе tоniс.”

Thе mаn changed intо slipреrs and walkеd step bу steр tоwаrd the dining rоom.

In truth, he didn’t еnjoy рunishing sеrvаnts; his temper could be describеd аs good, or pеrhаps it was that nоthing еver truly bothered him.

But lately, the situation at home was different.

Jiang Siye waved his hand, signaling the nanny to leave.

He Yang looked up, her usually pale face noticeably sallow.

“Where did you go?” Her voice was soft, so soft it lacked strength.

Jiang Siye knelt by her knees, studying her still-recovering complexion: “There was an urgent matter at the company, I went to handle it.”

He had informed her before leaving.

He left at one o’clock and returned at three, having used the fastest time possible.

The nanny brought over another bowl of warm tonic soup.

Jiang Siye held the spoon: “Let me feed you.”

He Yang turned her face away.

He was lying.

He had clearly gone to see Chi Dandan.

Coincidentally, her period had suddenly arrived. While the nanny was preparing soup in the kitchen, He Yang went out to buy sanitary pads herself.

At the corner of the convenience store, He Yang saw Chi Dandan holding Da Ke.

Da Ke was the Jiang family’s dog.

In Chi Dandan’s hands.

Then Jiang Siye reached out, and Chi Dandan handed the leash to him, saying something unknown, laughing brightly and cheerfully, stomping her foot like a coquettish young girl.

The sunlight was hazy. He Yang felt as if fine threads were winding around her lungs, hot and stifling, suffocatingly painful.

The man’s eyes were narrow and long, the corners slender and slightly curved, giving everyone a look of deep affection. When he smiled, it could easily be mistaken as him flirting.

That was an outsider’s illusion.

No one understood Jiang Siye’s coldness and ruthlessness better than she did.

He Yang: “You have a scent on you.”

Jiang Siye looked directly at her, lowered his chin slightly, and sniffed his sleeve.

“It’s the air freshener the office cleaner sprays. If you don’t like it, I’ll tell her to stop.”

He Yang: “Is the cleaner 25 years old, surnamed Chi?”

This was tantamount to provocation.

It was lighting a fire in his minefield.

The spoon in Jiang Siye’s hand paused mid-air.

The child was gone; he knew she was grieving. He also knew her hormones were still unstable.

Jiang Siye sighed softly and coaxed again: “Let’s eat something, okay? Your health is very poor.”

It was evasion.

Or perhaps he felt no need to explain to her.

He Yang, lacking energy, supported herself on the table and stood up: “I want to sleep.”

As she rose, her coat slipped down, revealing what she had been clutching to her chest.

Jiang Siye’s dark eyes turned cold, his tone scolding: “Didn’t I instruct that all the baby’s belongings be cleared away?”

The nanny panicked: “I didn’t know…”

“Why should they be cleared away?” He Yang asked, confused. “I had no say in his life or death, and now I can’t keep his belongings either?”

Jiang Siye’s throat moved slightly.

Almost imperceptibly.

“Darling, you’re not in a good state,” he said. “The doctor advised…”

Suddenly—

The sleep-aid seahorse was hurled at him.

Jiang Siye closed his eyes, allowing the seahorse to hit his cheek before falling to the floor.

He Yang trembled, her voice choked with sobs: “Why am I the only one in a bad state? Why are you unaffected?”

Last week, the Jiang family had held a banquet.

He Yang, of course, could not attend.

The child’s departure was beyond her control, and those who could have made a difference showed not a hint of sorrow for him. Why!

Jiang Siye stood like a straight, dark tree.

After venting, He Yang suddenly snapped back to reality and hurriedly bent down, trying to pick up the seahorse that had fallen to the ground.

But the man was quicker than her, snatching the seahorse first and tossing it to the nanny, commanding, “Throw it out.”

He Yang reached out to grab it back.

Jiang Siye pulled her into his arms, stopping her movement.

The nanny turned and walked toward the entrance.

He Yang’s eyes were pitch black, layers upon layers of fear pressing down on her until she let out a silent scream.

This was the last one.

The last item belonging to the baby.

The one she had worked so hard to hide.

Jiang Siye used all his strength to hold her back from her emotional outburst, his voice hoarse: “Yangyang, my dear, we have to let this go. You can’t keep touching these things…”

He Yang’s spirit shattered: “Give it back to me! Give it back to me! Go die, just go die!!”

Her voice was distorted.

Unable to bear her in this state, Jiang Siye compromised: “Be good, we won’t throw it away, we won’t.”

The nanny quickly brought the seahorse back.

As soon as she held it, He Yang’s screams stopped. Trembling, she pressed the seahorse against her cheek.

Tears fell like beads.

Even in her sleep, she didn’t dare let go, clutching it tightly.

Jiang Siye leaned over the bedside, gently brushing the stray hairs from her face with his fingertips.

His phone flashed again and again.

Making sure He Yang was in a deep sleep, Jiang Siye walked to the balcony in the living room and answered.

Whatever was said on the other end.

Jiang Siye’s tone was unreadable: “I can’t leave. My wife is in a very bad state. You handle it.”

A pause of a few seconds.

Jiang Siye glanced toward the bedroom: “I’m coming over now.”

The call was from the private hospital.

The hospital responsible for Jiang Zheng.

Jiang Zheng was his and He Yang’s son.

Everyone thought he was already dead.

It was Jiang Siye who personally signed the form to cease resuscitation.

The little one was tiny, lying there with a body bruised blue and purple, tubes inserted from head to toe.

Hanging on to life.

A newborn with a severe infection, multiple organ damage—the chances of surviving intact were almost impossible.

The attending doctor was anxious: “I really can’t make this decision.”

Jiang Siye’s gaze, deep as a lake, fixed on the baby, his voice calm: “Treatment plan.”

“……” The doctor hesitated, “There’s really no point in continuing. The young master will suffer…”

Jiang Siye looked at him sharply: “The plan.”

The doctor shrank back: “Organ transplant…”

Jiang Siye: “Another option.”

The doctor: “……”

He also knew that organ transplant was no different from giving up.

The child was too small, only three months old. Besides, where could they find so many suitable organs in such a short time?

After hesitating for a long time, the doctor finally voiced the uncertain plan: “We’d need to use a large amount of antibiotics. The young master might not withstand it.”

Even if he pulled through, he would likely suffer many lasting side effects.

Jiang Siye said nothing.

His fingertips, hanging by his side, trembled.

After a long while, his expression showed no sign of abnormality: “Are there any other options?”

The doctor shook his head.

Jiang Siye: “If we don’t use it, what will happen?”

The doctor answered honestly: “The young master has half an hour left.”

This was also why he insisted Jiang Siye come over.

After these words, a dead silence fell.

“Actually,” the doctor glanced at him hesitantly, stammering, “since the young master and Mrs. Jiang are a match, as long as Mrs. Jiang can undergo the transplant, I can guarantee the young master ten years…”

With time on their side and the Jiang family’s wealth, the doctor was confident he could keep Jiang Zheng alive.

Before he could finish, the doctor fell silent, trembling with fear.Jiang Siye’s gaze was cold and sinister, sweeping over wherever it landed as if slicing through the air.

After a long while.

His voice was as chilling as autumn frost: “Use the second method.”
