At Spring Water Creek, the largest entertainment suite had once again been booked in advance.

It was evening yet the room was brightly lit, almost like a classroom. Beta attendants, usually dressed exquisitely and renowned for their attractive appearances, sat individually, each with an A4 sheet on their laps, bent over and writing diligently.

Ren Yi, who had just arrived, was wide-eyed and dumbfounded. “What’s going on here? Are they giving a pop quiz in a private room?”Full novel: No! I’m an Alpha! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Meng Chaozhi glanced helplessly at Xie Wangyuan, then used one hand to push the newly arrived Ren Yi back outside.

“Where’s your guy?” Ren Yi craned his neck, trying to sneak a peek inside, only to have the door closed on him by Meng Chaozhi.

“He got taken by his agent to film some variety show. Didn’t let me follow,” Meng Chaozhi muttered under his breath.

Ren Yi laughed and teased a bit more. “What’s Wangyuan up to now?”

“They’re making each of them write down ten gifts they’d like to receive or ten places they’d like to go. If they can’t finish, they can’t leave,” Meng Chaozhi said with a sigh. “All this… just for Qin Yu. Did he do this even when he was abroad?”

“Nope. You know how that mouth of his is. Besides, what could those Betas at the club possibly like?” Ren Yi paused, then remembered something. “Actually… there’s one he might’ve liked.”

Meng Chaozhi raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Oh? So has he ever had a Beta fling? I thought he only went to the club because of that illness, unable to tolerate Omegas and maybe to irritate his father.”

Ren Yi shook his head. “Not exactly a fling. Back then, a new Beta junior had just joined the school, quite famous. Rumors spread in a few days, exaggerating everything. Wangyuan heard and went to meet him, wanting to get acquainted but the junior acted like a virtuous young man cornered by a rogue, avoiding him at all costs.”

Ren Yi clicked his tongue. “A few days later, it turned out to be the classic tease-and-retreat tactic. He was trying to manipulate Wangyuan. Then he ended up chasing Wangyuan for half a year but Wangyuan never gave him a glance again.”

“Just like Qin Yu,” Meng Chaozhi summarized. “That rebellious streak… same as when he was a kid. He’d rather harm himself ten times over to hurt the opponent once.”

Ren Yi chuckled awkwardly, not daring to outright call Xie Wangyuan a masochist. “But Qin Yu… he won’t really get so angry at Wangyuan, will he?”

Meng Chaozhi tilted his head back, downing his drink and chuckled softly. “Qin Yu’s probably too busy. I hear the Qin family’s in chaos. Qin Huajie is keeping a close eye on him.

“Good timing, since Yu Xile and Zhu Zhengcheng aren’t stirring things up. Hopefully, Wangyuan’s side will go smoothly.”

Ren Yi, who had witnessed Xie Wangyuan’s pheromone outbreak firsthand, shivered slightly. “Ah… I just wish Wangyuan’s illness could be completely cured someday.”

That night, Xie Wangyuan didn’t drink. Afterward, he returned home with a stack of A4 papers, satisfied. Before getting out of the car, he thought better of it and carried the gift box from the back seat.

He circled his Ferrari once, then tapped the small black sensor on the passenger door, smirking sarcastically. “So it turns out even an Alpha like me can have a day where my brother fears me.”

The chat window remained as it had in previous days, with no new messages. Xie Wangyuan tore off the sticker on the back of his neck, scratched lightly, curious to see what his doodle would look like as a set of nesting dolls.

Black suit, white tie, slightly plump for a comical charm, a tiny tear mole beneath the eye, expressionless, he captured a surprising essence of Qin Yu.

Xie Wangyuan laughed, opening each doll to see the different expressions, reluctant to let the gift end up in the trash. He picked up his phone and sent a message to the gift shop manager: make another set.

Arranging them on the empty shelf in the entrance hall from largest to smallest, Xie Wangyuan lit a cigarette, letting smoke swirl around the nesting dolls until satisfied. “Not bad at all.”

The next afternoon, Xie Wangyuan visited a large shopping mall. At a jewelry store, he selected a ruby brooch, deliberating at length before choosing a bright red velvet box.

As he left, he held up the box critically. “Bright red’s too common. Next time, prepare something more vibrant, flashy and sales will soar.”

The jewelry store manager looked at the floral shirt Xie Wangyuan wore with a blank expression.

In the Qin family underground parking lot, Xie Wangyuan parked and stepped out. Not far from the elevator, he spotted a familiar Maybach.

He tossed the jewelry box in his hands a few times, pocketed it, leaned against the hood and took out a pack of cigarettes.

Qin Yu, leaving the elevator ahead of schedule, heard a drawn out whistle from beside him. He glanced sideways but didn’t react, unsurprised, returning his gaze forward.

He Rui lowered his voice. “President Qin, you still need to meet the young master of the Zhao family…”

Qin Yu nodded slightly, walking calmly toward the car. “Second Young Master Xie.”

Xie Wangyuan stretched his arms wide, tapping the car twice, teasing, “If I hadn’t run into your car today, would you really have left me waiting in the lobby all evening?”

Qin Yu said nothing. His expression was neutral. Both knew Wangyuan’s nonsense words were just words; there was no need to waste time on them.

Xie Wangyuan glanced at He Rui, who was pressed against the wall like a transparent observer and leaned forward, voice slow. “Why leave work so early today? Off to another blind date?”

Qin Yu still didn’t respond, minty air brushing past Xie Wangyuan.

He raised an eyebrow, stepping aside to let Qin Yu pass, then got into the car and followed him out of the parking lot.

In traffic, Xie Wangyuan drove one handed, tapping the center console idly, tailing the Maybach just two to three meters behind.

He Rui glanced in the rearview mirror but, seeing Qin Yu unreactive, sensibly stayed silent.

Twenty minutes later, the Maybach stopped in front of a Western restaurant.

Xie Wangyuan got out first, tossing the car keys to the valet, then a few steps ahead blocked Qin Yu. “I say, Qin Yu, this is the second time. You’re not going to let me appear for nothing, right?”

“Although my reputation isn’t great, lending it to you like this… maybe I’m being too generous?” Xie Wangyuan said, pulling out his phone and tapping Qin Yu’s chin. “First, pay the fee and I’ll handle it tonight.

“Following me along this time… isn’t it exactly for this? Pay the fee and I promise you won’t lose out. Whatever services you want tonight, all covered.”

A new flirtatious message flashed across the screen. Xie Wangyuan swiped it away casually, laughing. “See? For you, I turned down so many Betas throwing themselves at me.”

Seeing Qin Yu silently staring at his phone, Xie Wangyuan continued talking to himself, grinning. “The old man in the Qin family has you meeting someone… is it worry or Qin Huajie? One phone number and I’m offering tonight plus aftercare, satisfied?”

Qin Yu finally took the phone, entering his private number.

Xie Wangyuan snatched it back, copying the number quickly into his contacts, sending a friend request immediately. “Accept it. No blocking or deleting. No returns here.”

Qin Yu agreed. Xie Wangyuan eyed the ring on his right hand. “What’s your size? Want a ring next time? Prefer wide? Or different style?”

Qin Yu paused slightly, then accepted the request, saying faintly, “No need.”

“Really no need… or playing hard to get?” Xie Wangyuan put the phone away, smiling and continued teasing. “If you don’t tell me, I can measure myself. I’ve got experience in these things…”

Qin Yu stepped forward. “It’s about time.”

The private room wasn’t large. A two person table held a small bouquet of roses. Xie Wangyuan, ever casual, stepped in first, grabbing the flowers and tossing them to the waiter outside. “Take them away. Tacky.”

He dragged over a chair, lining it up next to the other, then asked the waiter for another to place on the empty side.

The door closed again but Xie Wangyuan still looked unsatisfied. Left and right, he surveyed the room, then removed the table’s delicate tablecloth and small wall decorations, throwing them to the floor and kicking them aside before finally nodding in satisfaction.

What should have been a cozy, intimate two-person dinner in a private room had, in Xie Wangyuan’s hands, been transformed into something resembling an audition or worse, an evaluation.

He leaned back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other, swinging it casually as he tapped the tip of his shoe against Qin Yu’s black trousers before spreading his feet apart again. “That’s more like it,” he murmured casually, as if approving the setup.

Exactly at six o’clock, there was a knock at the private room door. When it opened, a wide eyed, adorable male Omega stepped inside.

Xie Wangyuan couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. Leaning close to Qin Yu’s ear, he whispered, low and teasing: “I say, Third Young Master Qin… you really don’t seem to mind the presence of the opposite sex, do you?”

The breath brushing against Qin Yu’s ear was warm, faintly scented with tobacco. Qin Yu tilted his head slightly, thumb brushing against his subtly moving Adam’s apple as he spoke evenly: “Mr. Zhao, hello.”

The Omega blinked at Xie Wangyuan, clearly caught off guard and after a moment, blinked again, regaining his composure. “Q… Qin… Mr. Qin, this is… your friend?”

He sat down cautiously, still confused. This was supposed to be a private dinner for two, how did a third person end up here and an Alpha no less?

The Omega kept sneaking glances at Xie Wangyuan but the moment their eyes accidentally met, his large eyes darted away, his face slowly flushing crimson. “I-I’m…”

“Sweetheart, today you’re getting a gift.”

The Omega’s eyes immediately snapped back, his mouth gaping slightly in shock as he stared at Xie Wangyuan, panic and astonishment written all over his features.

Xie Wangyuan propped his chin up with one hand, tilting his face to the side, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips. “Why don’t you try to guess what it is first?”

The use of such a familiar, intimate term made even Qin Yu pause for a moment. The cool, indifferent expression he always wore slowly turned toward Xie Wangyuan, a flicker of alertness lighting his eyes.

Xie Wangyuan nearly burst out laughing. From his pocket, he drew out a jewelry box, clearing his throat as he forced his mouth into a careful, restrained smile, attempting to play the role of a considerate, devoted Alpha. His voice softened, deliberately warm and coaxing: “Why don’t you open it? I think you’ll really like it.”

The Omega’s eyes widened as he stared at the box, trying to make sense of it. After a brief moment of hesitation, he stammered, “You… you’re that Xi-Xie…”

Xie Wangyuan set the jewelry box down next to Qin Yu’s hand, then leisurely turned his face back toward the Omega. “It’s me. So… what’s the matter?”

The Omega couldn’t stop glancing back at Qin Yu repeatedly, his face still flushed but now with an angry shade of red. “Mr. Qin… such an outstanding Beta… how could he be with you? Mr. Qin, is he harassing you? Should I… should I call someone? Security?”

“Ah, so you’re just a little fan,” Xie Wangyuan said, extending a finger to tap twice on the jewelry box before nudging it toward the Omega and then pulling his hand back.

He raised an eyebrow with that lazy, teasing confidence of his. “Do you see what this is? A jewelry box and do you see what color it is? Bright red. Little friend… are you sure you want to watch what I do to my sweetheart next, right here, in front of you?”
